He snapped its neck softly and looked down to Cloversun. Nodding to the bird with a small wink. He'd caught the mate, Cloversun would have to be quick now that the mate wouldn't be responding to the others call. Mintbranch slipped down the tree and crouched over the dead bird. He looked back at Cloversun, admiring her crouch and her calm but focused eyes. She was a remarkably pretty cat might he add. Perhaps a small crush is all he had, probably just him admiring her...a bit to much. Mintbranch looked back at the bird.

"I wanna start hunting!" Cougarpaw said. But as he started to stretch his muscles he realized his legs were really sore from all the hunters crouch work. "But maybe tomorrow..." He said, wincing at the soreness in his muscles.

(he only needs one more training thread and a couple more posts to become a warrior so i want to do this in another thread so i can get there faster, can you set up a private thread for hunting plz?)

Darkfall was puzzled not only by Larkfire’s actions but by the fact that Shadowfur also didn’t seem to know what was up with the younger cat. Perhaps she just didn’t want to have to work with someone else or she thought she was too good to work with him, after all, she was an enforcer and he was just a mere warrior. ’Whatever…’ he thought crossly, shaking his head a little bit.

At Shadowfur’s suggestion, the tom just nodded absentmindedly. He didn’t particularly care what they caught, he was more interested in why his friend had been acting that way. This wasn’t the first time she had been acting a little odd, and he couldn’t help but wonder if he had done something wrong.

Oh well. Not something to worry about now. The black tabby gestured with his tail for Shadowfur to lead the way as it had been the older tom’s idea to come out here in the first place.

Shadowfur headed toward the WindClan border, assuming that Darkfall would follow. He decided to keep his inspiration for this type of hunt to himself. Larkfire had chosen to hunt near the WindClan border for her assessment; Shadowfur figured the other tom wouldn’t want to hear of that right now.

Eventually, they arrived at the border. The black tom scanned the surrounding area, searching for any unlucky rabbit that had crossed over the border.

There. A particularly fat rabbit was sitting with its back to the pair, about a tree-length away. Shadowfur leaned toward Darkfall and whispered, “Circle around to the left. I’ll try to chase it toward you.”

Darkfall didn’t want to admit it, but he had zero experience when it came to hunting rabbits and he just hoped that Shadowfur wouldn’t find out AND that he’d be able to actually catch the darn thing. This morsel was particularly plump and he had half a mind to bring it back to his brothers who’d likely bicker over it. Whatever.

The black tabby nodded to his companion upon receiving instructions and began circling around in the direction he was told. Darkfall made sure to keep his body low and footsteps light as he used the sparse patches of grass to hide his hulking figure. One wrong move… One off sound, and that would be the end of this hunt. After a couple of moments, he positioned himself so that when Shadowfur chased the rabbit towards him, he would easily be able to catch up to and kill it.

Movement beside him caused Shadowfur to whip his head around. The adrenaline his body had generated in response to this fight hadn’t yet left his veins. He relaxed somewhat when he realized it was only Roanpaw.

The older apprentice pointedly pointed out that the cat before them was, in fact, dead. He then turned his gaze on Shadowfur. The black tom decided to stare right back, directly into his eyes.

Many cats seemed unnerved by the weird gremlin, but Shadowfur was curious. He didn’t view Roanpaw as any kind of threat; the tom might be a little unhinged, but he worshipped Dawnstar. Shadowfur believed the apprentice wouldn’t harm a Clanmate unless hell’s gift to the forest granted him permission to.

“Alive,” he said, speaking about Roanpaw. He wasn’t doing it to be humorous, although some may see it that way. Rather, he genuinely wanted to know how Roanpaw would handle his own personality being reflected back on him.

Dogtooth then continued about her business. He was trying again, and she was beyond please for it. She nosed around in the foliage once again getting back into her role. He was doing well, and she was beyond impressed with him thus far. Perhaps after this exercise they pop out for some prey. It was a monumental experience when an apprentice catches their first kill, and by the looks of it Eggpaw would achieve just that.

That’s when she heard the briefest brush of Eggpaws fur against the thicket as he pounced, she didn’t have long to think but quick stepped to the side just enough that he would’ve landed right where she was instead of right on top of her. Once he had landed she smiled and turned to face him. “Eggpaw! I am delighted with your progress, you tried again and were rewarded with success!”

If that were a rabbit, it would be gone before I had time to recover, Eggpaw thought sulkily. Still, Dogtooth's words were encouraging. "Can we try hunting now?" He asked hopefully. He wouldn't fail with that. Eggpaw began scenting the air already, not waiting for his mentor's reply.

"Nice one," Cloversun purred around the dead bird's wing. She padded over to place her catch by Mintbranch. "Good thinking." She scratched some dirt over their prey, then looked up into his green gaze. Almost the same shade as mine, she thought.

"Nice catch" he managed to say, looking into her eyes for a moment longer he looked down and whispered. "Your....e-eyes are very pretty"
