Dear Diary,
Tonight is a cold night. The rain keeps falling down, and my mama and papa are arguing about "Eve-act-ut-ation". I don't know what it means, but Mama is packing up and Papa is shouting at her. I'm hiding in my room. I don't want to do this "Eve-act-ut-ation". It sounds scary.

Dear Diary,
Mama took me into the car, and Papa was shouting. I didn't know if he was crying, or if the rain on his face, but I felt sad. Mama refused to let him into the car, as he slammed his hands on the window. He kept saying sorry, and I tried opening the door for him but Mama yelled at me. Mama began driving away, and I tried to see Papa in the thick rain, but he disappeared.
I'm crying now.

Dear Diary,
I looked out the window as the rain fell. The bridge had big puddles, and a few houses were cracking and falling apart. The roads looked like rivers, water rushing through the streets. I watched a dog disappear under the water. I placed a hand on the window, looking up at the sky.

The car slid off the road. Mama isn't waking up. I'm trying to get her out of the car, but the mud is too slick. I managed to grab you, Diary, as the water pushed the car away. Mama isn't here anymore. She was crushed under the car, I think.

Dear Diary,
I found shelter in a small cave nearby. The big fluffy dogs helped me get there. It's dry, and warm. The dogs are nice, helping me get clean from the mud and keeping me warm by curling around me. I like these dogs.

Once, there was a flood. It was like in the great book that people once read, and almost all the humans drowned and died. Humanity is dead, and animals are somehow still alive.

A young girl has found her place in a wolf pack. They care for her as if she was their own. A few humans remain, some joining the girl with the wolves, and others trying to 'rescue' them. The once glorious city of New York is in ruins now, great lakes taking up much of the space.
