Sorrelflare bowed his head as he entered before he quietly sat down, "The patrols I had sent out, only four ever reported back, one being late. Though it seems that the border with Thunderclan is faint and Windclan had a scent of fire and smoke."

He took a deep breath before went on with those who did not report, "Elkleap was supposed to lead the Windclan patrol but it seems he did not even show up and the apprentice that was assigned to it, Mousepaw was the one who reported back the smell of smoke and fire." He shifted slightly as he went on, "Mudworm and no one from their hunting patrol reported back. Same with Hazedream's hunting patrol."

After a moment to catch his breath he went on, "I'll punish them accordingly but I wanted to let you know what has happened as well."

Receiving permission to enter, Nighthound shouldered his way into the leader's den. He offered a polite nod to Dawnstar, glad to be out of the pouring rain outside. Damn, he hated water.

Not wanting to waste any important time, he remained standing as he began to speak.

"Following the lift of the ban on leaving camp alone, I had gone into the territory. More specifically, I went to the Icy Heartlands, but it appeared as though nobody had been there in a moon. While I know that the rain may dull scents, all that could be smelled were the scents of outsiders and prey." Tail lashing as he spoke, Nighthound raised his head high and looked toward Dawnstar. A determined glint sparked in orange eyes.

"As the Icy Heartlands has not been patrolled in a moon, I would like to lead one to ensure that it is safe. This patrol would only consist of warriors as we do not know what danger may lie there," he continued, "A moon is more than enough time for outsiders, dogs, foxes, and other creatures to make it their home, and it is my duty as a ShadowClan warrior to protect our Clan. Under my watch, I aim to ensure that no further Clanmates of mine will be found dead."

There was just one more thing he wanted to talk about. Something he had decided on his own. "Alongside this, I would like to request to be a guard for our Clan. While I know that I am not an Enforcer, far too many deaths and injuries- in the case of Flowerkit- have been allowed to occur. Traitors in our ranks, outsiders making it into the camp, all of it must be put to an end. ShadowClan is not a Clan of traitors or laziness, and I will take it upon myself to uphold that if necessary."

Finished speaking, Nighthound fell into a silence, patiently awaiting the Shadow Queen's response.

Dawnstar silently began grooming her fur while she listened to Nighthound's report. She was surprised to hear about the lack of cats in the Icy Heartlands, she merely surmised that cats have been going in and out of camp less frequently due to the whole buddy system and the murders of course. Still, the mentions of outsiders had her fur bristling.

His little speech about stepping up or whatever she was sure it was mostly because she was in need of a deputy. But it's not like she was upset with it, she had told cats if they wanted the rank to take the initiative and show her that they deserved it. Nighthound was taking a paw step in the right direction, although she'd appreciate it more if cats would do that regularly why did a promotion need to be dangled in front of them to get anything around here done?

"I want anyone or thing that doesn't belong in the Heartlands dead. Whether it be a fox or another cat, mark the Icy Heartlands with ShadowClan's scent strongly. While you're there see if you can find any herbs, Elmshadow's in need of some honey and marigold." Dawnstar replied. "I'll inform Shadowfur to start making certain that hunting patrols are being sent into the Icy Heartlands to avoid this from happening again." Once she found a deputy, Shadowfur would have to find something else to do to keep busy. She didn't see the point in having him continue with patrols.

"If you want to guard the camp, I've no qualms with it. Find Sorrelfur and Larkfire, and tell them they are to assist you with making rounds around the camp during nightfall to ensure there is nothing amiss inside or outside of the camp. Since you asked first, I'll put you in charge of guard duty. You can gather whomever you want to deal with the task." It would be kitten's play for Dawnstar to set everything up herself, but as it was known she was looking for a deputy preferably someone who could handle tasks without stepping on her toes.

"Unless there is anything else?" Dawnstar silently implied that Nighthound was free to depart as she rose herself. She needed to get out, her head was throbbing and sitting in her den was doing little to improve her dour mood. If Nighthound was taking a patrol out to the Icy Heartlands, she might as well as take one out to the Mourning Ruins and check on its state.

"oh! well, there is the fact that i'm overdue for my warrior ceremony of course! i know you've been totes busy and stuff over the last couple moons but like.. i'm almost 18 moons and frankly i'm a bit annoyed that it took this long for your lackeys to have any sort of check up with me. anyway, i just need that final assessment thing and then i'm good! of course i need it done by you though because bestie, i do not trust your said lackeys. as with all of shadowclan, they're dusty, crusty AND musty and cats such as pristine as us should never have to put up with nonsense like that, you feel?"

Huh, did not pick up on irony it seemed. Dawnstar huffed barely refraining from a full eye-roll. The tattered ears atop her head raised themselves a bit higher when the assessment was brought up. It's been a while since she handled one of those, and although she would have liked it to be anyone but the annoying pipsqueak, Wildpaw raised a fair point. Not about the whole issue with who was holding the assessment, but her age. She was overdue for a warrior assessment, although her age might have something to do with her inability to remain in the camp when she was younger.

"All I got from that is that you want your assessment done." The Queen rose from her nest, dropping down to stretch out her muscles, and then padded past Wildpaw. "Come along, we'll get this done now." She commands, heading towards the training grounds.
[I'll set up an assessment thread.]

Great more company. Dawnstar paused mid-lick at Icebeam's call. She couldn't fathom what the she-cat wanted from her. "Come in." She replies, then straights up to receive the warrior. "What is it?"

For the first time in a long while, Larkfire was left feeling utterly disappointed with herself. She could not answer either of Dawnstar's questions, and it irked her. Made her feel like the little girl she'd once been all over again, trembling and helpless and terrified in the face of her mother's disappointment. Except, she wasn't trembling this time. She wasn't helpless, and neither was she terrified. There was no mother, not anymore. Not the real one, not even the pretend one, whatever Dappledleaf had been. It was only her stuck within her own confusing mentality.

The apple didn't fall so far from the tree, anyway.

"She was gone by the time I returned back to camp."
Larkfire said, shaking her head. She wanted to cringe at her own stupidity, lurking above in the trees and merely watching to make sure Duskpaw didn't get hurt. At the time, Larkfire hadn't wanted to disturb Duskpaw's hunting, but by the time Lark had gotten down from her tree and followed the apprentices' trail back to camp, the paw had disappeared. Curiously enough, Lark was also unaware what punishment she would have had to enforce, but asking Dawnstar about it now would probably only earn her ire. ...Nobody had said Lark wouldn't do it anyway. "If I were to issue a punishment, what was it supposed to be?"

Whether Dawnstar answered or not, Larkfire moved on. She had to, anyway. "I spoke to Flowerkit when we found her, but she couldn't tell me anything aside from how she didn't get a good look at whoever hurt her. The loner... I'm still not sure if he did it alone, but when I questioned him he kept saying he didn't know anything about ShadowClan. When I asked about accomplices, all he said was 'Ice'." She paused, a moment. This next part was rather awkward, because it chalked up to another mistake Lark had made. She'd failed to see the fatal wound on the loner's back. "And then he passed out from blood loss. Died."

The amber eyes flashed with a hint of disapproval upon obtaining the answers to her questions. Now she knew that Larkfire was young, but she didn't think she'd have to paw feed her everything little thing. If Duskpaw was gone by the time Larkfire returned to camp that mean that Larkfire hadn't confronted the apprentice immediately for being outside of camp. Even with the ban lifted, apprentices were not allowed out of camp by themselves. "The next time you see someone disobey orders handle it immediately. There is no need for politeness or whatever it was you were doing with Duskpaw. As for the punishment, confined her in camp for a few days and put her on extra apprentice duties." Dawnstar told her. What else would the punishment be?

Returning to Flowerkit's fiasco, Dawnstar wasn't bothered by the fact that Flowerkit didn't say much about the attack. Still, it'd be a good idea to swing by the nursery and talk to the kit herself. If there was another traitor in their midst and going after kits, she needed every bit of information she could possibly get.

"How unfortunate." She growled in response to learning about the outsider's untimely death. "It would have been nice if we could get more out of him, granted, I'm not blaming you for his death. It sounds like you did what you could for Flowerkit." Dawnstar reiterated her words, speaking bluntly to avoid a misunderstanding.

"I'll speak with Flowerkit myself, see if she can recall something. I'm not sure what to make of this Ice, there are only two cats with ShadowClan with the name Ice. Icebeam and Icethroat. They could be our traitor or they could be nothing. For now, we'll keep an eye on them, and avoid alerting either warrior of our suspicion." It was one traitor after another these days. Dawnstar didn't see the appeal of causing her problems when she was more than happy to let the traitors walk away untouched if they didn't like the clan or how she ran things.

"Inform the rest of the Enforcers about this, and if you lot come up with something different about what Ice could mean or anything that implicates either Icebeam or Icethroat come speak to me. However, if you can't find anything bout either of them we'll have to come at it differently." Dawnstar's paranoia stated that this Ice could be nothing more than a decoy to throw them off the scent of another, but what purpose would a loner have to do that? How irksome, she hated mysteries. If nothing was found, they'd have to set it aside.

They haven't put their big paws in the other Clans' businesses recently." He paused, and Dawnstar's whiskers twitched. Whiteheart hurriedly continued.

"I think we should send a scouting party of the stealthiest cats to get information on ThunderClan, then we could strategize and decide on the best way to attack, then we surprise them and BOOM!, likely success! They will never guess what's coming for them, unless... they have spies here..." Whiteheart lowered his voice conspirationally. "Of course, it's up to you to make the decision. So, what do you think?"

Whiteheart swayed on his three good paws nervously. Had he spoken to Dawnstar disrespectfully? Spots danced at the edges of his vision, and he blinked them away. He sat down, his lame leg twisting awkwardly under him. "So, what do you think?' Whiteheart tipped his head slightly.
@Undertaker

Apologies, I am barely online. Hope I can go on more-

The things she does for this clan! "Whiteheart, I can see that you're trying to be of help, and I can appreciate it, but I have no intentions of sending scouting patrol in ThunderClan's territory. The majority of the Clan has no clue how to navigate ThunderClan's territory, and on top of that Orchidmoon and Vixensnarl nearly got caught just sniffing around their territory. I don't need the Clans pointing their tails at us and making ShadowClan look bad." Not that her clan looked great to the other clans as it was, but the current image Dawnstar had made ShadowClan was something she had intentionally done.

Openly trespassing when she had such a straight-up kill policy regarding the smallest transgressions with ShadowClan's borders... It wasn't something she could weasel her way out of. "Also, I think you have something wrong. I'm not looking to invade ThunderClan's camp, I just want the territory the clan wants to pay for ThunderClan's actions. We're not raiding the clan." Dawnstar wasn't sure why cats thought that she had intentions of raiding the clan. She was just looking to snag Sunkissed Creek.

Great, she loved how she had to complain about patrols to get a proper report back about them. Normally, she was perfectly alright about not obtaining reports with patrols, she didn't need to know every little detail. But the important stuff, that needed to get reported back to her.

"It took you long enough to get this back to me." Dawnstar hissed, vexed. "Sorrelflare, you've been slacking compared to the other Enforcers. The stuff with WindClan's fire and ThunderClan's stale scents should have been reported immediately." She didn't think she should have to go out and check the borders herself.

"Apprentices aren't allowed out of camp alone, though I won't spit on the initiation he's shown, Mousepaw should have come to you and reported the lack of a patrol leader so you could reassign a new one. If you haven't make sure that Mousepaw knows this. I don't want him to think that he can just go out whenever he wants."

"I found a cat lingering by our territory," Icebeam hissed, "So I did the logical thing and asked why she was there. The dumbass refused to answer my question and attacked me." She took a breather and then continued, "I killed and skinned her." She gave Dawnstar the pelt, it was black and orange- a tortoiseshell. "It's a little small, this cat was pretty small. Not kit-size though." Icebeam let out a sigh. "Also, Dawnstar- I was wondering- since Mirehound disappeared, I'd like to challenge her position. Will I have to fight you? Or shall I fight Cougarivy?"

He listened to her response closely, though his nose scrunched slightly at the mention of herbs. Damn, he hated collecting herbs. All the plants looked the same to him and he found that he'd much rather hunt or patrol the borders. Still, however, he would do as asked without complaint. At least, not out loud. Kill anything that didn't belong. While he didn't enjoy bloodshed, the danger was far too blatant to ignore. Any hesitation could lead to the death of a ShadowClan cat, and he wanted to avoid that consequence.

"Understood."

As she continued, Nighthound flicked his tail in acknowledgement, waiting for her to finish before nodding. Being in charge of guard duty? He could do that. It was good he had gotten here first, it seemed.

"That is all. Thank you for your time," he said, then spun around and walked from the den.

[ Assuming the other interaction can be considered finished. (If I need to reply I can type one quickly but I'm guessing I don't need to) I set up an Enforcer Meeting for what Dawn told Lark ^^ ]

Larkfire
She/Her

It was past time Larkfire stop lingering. At this point, she didn't even know what she was referring to as lingering anymore. Her heart and mind couldn't seem to take a similar stand. Funny, to think of it that way now when she'd wasted so much time keeping her heart out in the open. Letting anyone and anything infiltrate it. A sardonic smile curled the corner of Larkfire's mouth as she entered ShadowClan's clearing.

With one bundle clutched in her maw and another in tow, the lithe grey female paused in front of Dawnstar's den after having made her way over, peering in through bright orange hues. For once, she wasn't approaching The Queen of Mean about.. well, about something to do with her job. Okay, yes, that was stretching the truth too much, but for once Larkfire wasn't here to offer a report. "Dawnstar?" She asked around the bundle clutched in her maw. "If you have a moment.." It'd probably be longer than that. "A while, to spare. I wish to speak with you."

Whiteheart dipped his head. "Okay Dawnstar. Although, when we set off to claim ThunderClan territory, count me in. Thanks for hearing me though. Goodbye," and he slipped away into the shadows, his lame leg dragging on the ground.

Whiteheart looked bback at Dawnstar's eyes staring from her den, then dipped his head and turned away, limping away.

After dismissing Blackhawk, Shadedrost immediately made his way to his leaders den. He only stopped when he was about a fox length from the entrance. With a deep breath the warrior called out, "Excuse me Dawnstar may I come in?"

[ @Undertaker - Dawnstar ]

Dawnstar found that this one cat was visiting repeatedly. Thankfully, Dawnstar's tolerance was far better than most with cats when it came to Larkfire. Although, she was wondering if whatever had Larkfire... concern during the last visit had been resolved or not. It didn't make Dawnstar all that comfortable when her Enforcers walked into her den looking extremely paranoid. She was near certain that she didn't have anything to worry about from Larkfire of all cats, she had watched this one grow from a scrappy kit into the Enforcer that she was today.

Still, Dawnstar would never, could never, put her trust or faith one hundred percent into anyone. That didn't mean she wouldn't feel wounded or some sense of betrayal if they tried to hurt her clan or her. Dawnstar was still reeling from her own sense of betrayal and the loss of yet another of her grandkids.

"I hear you, but I haven't a single clue what you're saying." Dawnstar snarled, climbing to her paws, she padded to the entrance of the mini cave and blinked her amber eyes as she found out why Larkfire's voice was so muffled. "Now what do you have there?"

He didn't visit often, she assumed there was a reason for this. She was nearly finished weaving in the last strange gift she had received from Wildpaw into her nest she heard him call. After carefully cleaning her pelt of any stray flower petals, she walked over to the mouth of her den and looked at Shadefrost. No blood and he didn't look distressed she hoped that whatever he had to say was something that she didn't need to much about. "Come in." She replied, backing away from the opening to allow him entrance into the den.

Shadefrost stood still as Dawnstar inspected him, breathing only when she turned away and allowed him permission to enter. He stepped into the dark den, his sapphire blue eyes gleaming mischievously as he sat. What he was about to do would probably result in a reprimanding or demotion, but he didn’t care. Dawnstar needed to start smiling more often, or at least she had to stop frowning. And if that meant it had to happen at his expense, then so be it. ”Dawnstar, I’ve come to tell you that I figured out what your new nickname should be,” he said with a slightly nervous smile, ”How do you like ‘Sunny’? You get it because your name is Dawn, which is when the sun rises, and your last name is Star.” (a factor that I’m sure Dawnstar’s rper can figure out in all this) Slowly, the warrior stood up and took a few steps back, realizing that his leader could even kill him for what he had just said. ”I also came to tell you that I sent two patrols out this morning, and I’m here to give you a report,” he said hurriedly. "Windclan has still been neglecting their border checks. Cougarbite and Peppertwig... uh, I mean Pepperleaf, came across a charred corpse on the opposite side, which caught me off guard initially. I suspect Pepperleaf might have known the cat, as she made quite a fuss about it. Moving on, when Hawk shared his team's report, he mentioned that Thunderclan's border has remained largely unchanged since our last inspection. He also suggested sending a small group of cats for a more thorough investigation. I agree with his proposal. However, I believe we should cover both Thunderclan and Windclan, but it’s your choice Dawnstar." And with that, Shadefrost shut his mouth to let Dawnstar process everything he’d just said.

| Mousepaw |

Pawing gleefully at the entrance to the leader's den, Mousepaw dropped his mouse, stomping his paws on the floor. He was happy, happy, happy. Because! Because. He'd been taken out hunting. His dear Auntie Larky had taught him how to hunt, and he had caught something! Him! A mouse! A mouse for a paw named Mouse! Yayayayayayay!

But now! Now he was on a mission. A very, very important mission! It wasn't a shrew, but! But... If he could learn how to take this one's fur, he could practice! And then when he finally caught a shrew, he could gift it to his Fuzzy! Fuzzy was bound to feel super duper better with a brand new shrew pelt. Oh... but he would have to go out hunting a lot to find a shrew... Maybe Bigmum could give him permission to go out hunting by himself? Maybe if he promised to be extra careful! Yes yes, that would be nice. Plus! Plus. He would bring all the prey back to camp. Prey for everyone! Victory!

Hope glinting in his verdant eyes, the stock apprentice called into the den, remembering his mother's words that one had to be polite. Mmmhmmm. Especially to the highranks. Except Stinky. Stinky could go burrow his head in dirt for all he cared.

"B-" Oh! Oh oh oh! No wait. He couldn't call her Bigmum. Silly silly. She was Dawnstar. She was the warriors' mum, not the apprentices'. He'd almost make a horrible mistake. Phew! "Dawnstar, Dawnstar! Hello! How do you do? It's Mousepaw, and I come to see you!" he chirped happily, rounded ears perked up as he awaited an answer.
