close behind garlicfeather he wondered why the other tom had suddenly stopped before he too was able to make out what they had spotted.
he got up out of the crouch he had been in and watched as garlic nudged the dead, frozen body. he swallowed hard at the sight, this wasnt the first time he had seen prey dead, with no injuries, almost as if frozen in place, during leaf bare but he was sure he would never get used to the sudden cold the realisation shot through your body. suddenly cold and the fun they just had far, far away he couldnt hear anything but the roar of the wind and snow around his head and stare at the small rabbit. a million thoughts shot through his head, the worry about the kits in camp came first on a long list ending on garlicfeather and himself. far away from camp. in heavy snow. infront of a rabbit that had frozen to death.

"no.. no. no you're not overreacting we gotta get back to camp." he replied, words slow and unsure at first but picking up in urgency and tone after he got out of his thoughts and actually focussed on replying and their current situation.
he finally lifted his gaze off the rabbit, eyes flicking around the white hills surrounding them, the snow had picked up considerably and the rocky ground was entirely covered in a uncomfortably thick blanket of snow.
"i dont think we'd make it back in this weather." he muttered, eyes still scanning their environment while his thoughts were racing, trying to come up with a solution.
he shuddered, from the cold or fear he couldnt tell. maybe both. but he finally remembered something. maybe. maybe this could be their chance.
"i-.. i think we passed a old burrow or something earlier.. it didnt smell or look like anything lives there." he said, having to yell over the now considerably louder roaring of the wind and quickly started walking in the direction he remembered the burrow. maybe their only chance of survival. he was sure he wouldnt make it back to camp if they tried now, pelt soaked from the snow and shivering.

Okay. Okay this was fine, everything was fine they weren't just ages away from camp with no cat for more foxlengths then he could count and they didn't just see a bit of Frozen Prey and this wasn't going to happen to them and they could pull together and just- just survive and then laugh it off at camp. Garlic Feather personally wished that his worries hadn't been confirmed. He wished they'd just gone straight back to camp, and he wished so much more wouldn't and would've happened. He took a long, dreadful second to soak in the situation, and then try to calm himself. He couldn't have ever managed to recreate the fear, and actual danger of death he had here. Nor describe it. A burrow, an old burrow. He was too cold and mentally shaken to object, and with such harsh snow he couldn't see anything but the outline of JayFrost. Thankfully, Garlic Feather had pretty dark fur, so he should be a little easier to spot amongst the snowstorm they seemed trapped in. 'Thank the stars for the burrow.' The wind drowned out any words that Garlic Feather had tried to muster, honestly they had warning signs. More then once, that this was going to happen. Garlic Feather was sending as many prayers to star clan as he could mentally begging for them to listen, for just a chance even slim for them to make through this. He knew he wasn't overreacting. If anything everything looked like it was nothing but snow, being swallowed up more and more each passing second. He couldn't feel his paws, and by the stars was he cold. Every time he thought it couldn't get colder then this it did. 'I'm Sure we'll get through this just- Just fine.' Garlic Feather knew that was more for his own comfort then anyone else's. couldn't tell what sort of surface he was walking on, but it was certainly beginning to get harder to walk through, when he glanced down he noticed that the snow had gotten deeper. Or thicker or whatever the phrase was for it, he squeezed his eyes closed and stopped for just a second to calm a tad bit more. He didn't want to panic but what choice was there for him? 'Are you alright Jay Frost?' If Garlic was panicking he couldn't imagine what was going through Jay Frosts thoughts, so much for fun. So much for making the most of lost time. Were they being punished for something? Speaking of the snow being deep, Garlic Feather pushed on and found himself stuck, as in. stuck. He let out a yelp, but clearly the wind drowned it out, he pulled through trying to churn like he was swimming, and sunk deeper. For a solid moment he could feel nothing but icy cold and hear his own heartbeat and the wind. The loud loud wind, He wasn't just going to go down easy though, no. That wasn't who Garlic Feather was. He managed to get himself out albeit a struggle and now didn't even try stopping.

all he could think was cold. cold. cold. cold. he felt like he was suffocating. the snow making his eyes teary and his vision blury. he was okay. they were going to make it to be burrow and be okay. maybe if he kept telling himself that it would all be okay it would all turn out to just be a bad dream.
curse his disbelieve in starclan, he couldnt help himself but send up a prayer for at least garlicfeather to make it, surpressing tears and he continued pushing through the snow.
he turned to look back, garlicfeather close behind him, the other tom didnt look convinced in what he was saying but jayfrost nodded anyway, hopefully making the darker furred cat feel a big better.
turning to look infront of him again the tried to make out anything but white, breath quickening, he was getting weaker. exhaustion had spread through his limbs, every step harder than he last, his paws and legs were aching.
he couldnt give up, no, without him garlicfeather had no chance to get to the burrow, snow blinding them enough to completely loose orientation.
he felt his heart rapidly beating against his chest, swirling snow and the sharp whistling of the wind in his ears getting worse.
he ignored garlicfeather asking if he was fine, too focussed on continuously drawing in quick, shallow breaths, inhaling snow through his mouth and feeling the cold settle into his lungs.
the quick breaths and harsh cold were making him lightheaded, the light-headedness was making him panic and the panic was making his heart speed up and his gasps for air more frantic. every breath he drew in felt nothing but cold. no air was getting to his lungs. this was it.
he was suffocating.
suddenly the snow beneath his paws shifted, caving in on itself it pulled jayfrost down. the last thing he could hear was his own panicked yelp before he saw black.
he was gasping for air, frozen in place as endless black took over.
he was falling, he was sure of it. maybe this was what dying felt like. a endless fall within the thick black of space. maybe he was among the stars now. he could make peace with that. becoming one with the stars and the endless black of the sky above them.
his body hit the ground roughly. the chocked. suddenly he wasnt falling anymore. snow in his mouth melting into a icy cold stream trickling down his throat.
if he wasnt dead yet then he would be soon.
heavy weight pressing against him on all sides, getting tighter and tighter with every gasping breath, shifting loudly around his ears.
he didnt want to die. he was too young. he- he was too alone.
sending another prayer up to the stars he hoped garlicfeather would make it.

(wahhh this is so baddd ughh. also idk if it was clear but he never fell or hit the ground from falling anywhere, he was just shallowed up by the snow and got a bit silly)

long furred torbie ▵ She/Her ▵ Beefed up [tier 2](active), Lyrebird's Lullaby(active), Shadow fiend
❀•°❀°•❀
‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿

Once again she was by herself, not like she could think of anyone free to join her. Springpaw had thought of asking if Adderpaw wanted to join her but she had second thoughts, they were just apprenticed not too long ago. She wasn't dumb enough to maybe put someone young like that in danger if something happened. Besides it wasn't like she was going to be out here for long, she was hunting. She had no faith in finding any prey at the moment, what crazy animal would be active in this cold weather. Yet here she was chancing it since she had nothing better to do than this, Besides maybe if she was out here she could catch ottersplash and send them to hell. It left her angry watching the disgraced warrior run away instead of facing the consequences of their actions. She felt like their life should have been the payment for their actions taken out on thunderclan.

That was thoughts for when she was in her nest, not when she was out here in the open. She wouldn't be caught slacking, that wasn't something she did or was willing to do. Sniffing the cold air around her, the inside of her nostrils burning from the temperature. So far nothing was catching her attention just like she had thought. Looking around at her surroundings she saw dead grass and a few brushes that still lived. She blinked her eyes a couple of times, was she seeing things correctly? With slow steps, she approached what looked like a lump that was halfway into some brush. Upon getting a closer look, it appeared to be some poor-looking squirrel that didn't fully hibernate like its own kind. It also looked like it was damp at one point and couldn't get dried fast enough before the cold weather got to it, that was depressing. With a nudge of her paw, the squirrel's body as if it was one whole piece moved a bit. This left her to hide it away in the brush it was almost in anyways, she couldn't do much with a frozen piece of prey nor could anyone else.

There was a moment where he thought he'd died, he couldn't feel anything from the tip of his ears to his paws, everything was almost going slower in a way, and there was moment where he simply walked, that moment? Shattered, the moment he glanced away for just a moment and then couldn't see Jay Frost anymore. He felt himself inwardly panic, he thought for a few moments he could see a big hole in the snow but the snowfall was so heavy and the wind drowned everything so harshly that he guessed he was seeing things. But he didn't even know where the burrow was, what direction it was, everything was just a pure white desert that swallowed up every living thing. He draw a long breath and most of what energy he had to call out. 'Jayfrost? Where are you? I can't see anything through this Star-damned snow!' Garlic thought he stepped on something for a minute, dragging his paw out of the snow and shaking it. Ugh! Even with such dark fur the whole of his pelt was probably smothered in snow, and there was no point in shaking it off. He dove his nose into the snow, trying to pick out what he'd stepped on. when he brought his nose out it was a horrible feeling, in all honesty Garlic Feather hadn't let a single tear shed up into this point. It was hopeless, his prayers to starclan were clearly not working because they were still lost. Or he was still lost. Maybe Jay Frost had found the burrow, or ran off without him. Garlic had mostly been standing in one place, where else would he go? If he turned even slightly he could be thrown more then just off course. When he thought he stepped on something again, he tried to shove his nose in the snow again but it was too numb to tell if he was finding what he was looking for. 'Jay Frost, I can't find that burrow without you- If you die I die, in short. I can't give some speech to some snow- ' Garlic Feather tried to dig the snow around him away so he had a little bit more of a clue but all he did was make himself tired. He was half sure his paws weren't there anymore, at least it felt like it. Maybe his nose fell off too! He didn't know if it was JayFrost or not, but he was trying to pull something up, whether it be a branch or something else, it would make searching easier at least even if it wasn't Jay Frost!
(I have zero clue whether i was meant to help Jay Frost or not but after this garlics is slipping then involuntarily swimming. )

the world shifted again and there was a moment where he felt like his soul was being pulled out of his body. confused and lost nausea overcame him. there was no telling where up and down was but something was certainly moving.
half expecting to fall again he tensed up but then the black suddenly made way to a stark white, blinding him and making a sharp pain shoot through his head. the realisation where he was suddenly hit him, pulling him out of the soft imagination of death and back to reality. the sharp pain and dull numbness was too much and he desperately wished for it all to just be over but he couldnt let garlicfeather freeze to death.
paws and legs more pain than not he started moving, trying to move snow, aching stiff limbs pushing up, or what he thought might be up, with newfound strength.
the stark white now completely engulfing him, loud roar of the wind prevalent again, unfocussed eyes darting around until they stopped on a darker spot in his vision he was almost convinced everyone was right. maybe, just for a moment, starclan was real.
jayfrost chocked back a sob, weakly pulling himself out of the hole and onto safe ground again. weak legs shaking and then giving out he accepted his fate, legs folding beneath his weight he just focussed on filling his lungs with oxygen. his mind as empty as could be, any thoughts replaced with the howling of the wind, the sounds of air passing his throat with a rasp and his heart hammering against his ribcage.

Garlic Feather couldn't stop mentally begging starclan, why would he stop. He was the fiercest believer in starclan you'd ever see and he refused to throw away his faith because of some snow. let alone his life or Jay Frosts. Garlic Feather was tired, he was hungry and losing hope was not an option at this point. Because he knew if he lost hope, that'd be it. When Jay Frost collapsed, Garlic was almost frozen in shock. He leaned down panicking, Garlic thought for a moment that, maybe the den was up ahead. He knew he couldn't leave Jay Frost there in all this snow and cold, but he took the risk to go ahead and look for the den, only a few paw steps away so that he still had Jay Frost in sight if he turned around. His paws went onto something slippery, and he fell hard onto he belly underneath the snow, he scrambled to get up but slid again. Ice. He was on ice- He couldn't tell if it was cracking or not and he wouldn't be able to from the roar of the wind, desperate to get off the ice he found he'd slid away from solid ground, and no matter how many times he tried to make his way back over he seemed to only go further. he tried to stand upright, able to take one last glance at Jay Frost and call out. 'Ice!' He yowled, would his voice even carry? Every inch of him was stuck in one place making no attempt to move, he knew that he got lucky the ice had held so far but he'd not a clue what parts were sturdy or not.

(Have to do the falling through ice on a different post since it's required in the bingo )

(Have to do the falling through ice on a different post since it's required in the bingo )

his head was still resting against the ground, shaken minutely by full body shivers when he saw garlicfeathers figure swim by. dark pelt near melting into its surroundings of white and grey.
why would garlicfeather leave him? did he find the den? did he really dig him out just to leave him to freeze to death? he certainly would if he didnt get up soon. the snow already covering his own lighter pelt was a sure way he would dissapear right infront of the others eyes if he didnt move.
pushing himself up onto his paws again his legs shook underneath his weight and he had to wait for the world to stop spinning before he could even think about moving.
he was too cold, too numb and everything was too loud for jayfrost to form a single proper thought, just blindly walking in the direction garlic had left.
he heard garlicfeather yowl a few meters infront of him but couldnt figure out what was said over the wind, then his front paw slid out from underneath his body.
ice
quickly pulling back he squinted against the snow, harsh wind making his eyes sting and his ears feel like they were burning, and still, he couldnt see anything but white.

He-Him { River Clan } Warrior

Garlic feather tried taking a paw step, then he did hear the crack. There was a second where he was simply stuck there, terrified. Then that crack sounded again and he was forcefully thrown down into the snow and the moment his paws touched the water he wanted to scream, falling into the deep snow and under a thick icy grip that sank its claws into him. He managed to get his eyes open but only for a moment, the water swirled around him bubbles drifting to the surface. The whole thing felt more like an attack on his senses then anything else as he tried to swim up but the fatigue caught up to him and forced him deeper. He thrashed around trying to catch himself on the ice but even when he did manage to get a grip on some ice that was still there it broke off too, leaving him flailing and going from drowning to flailing at the surface back and forth. Until he didn't have the energy to keep doing so, his paws ached and he genuinely couldn't feel anything, he could feel the water flooding into him and it was horrifying, and he knew he couldn't cough it up. Ever now or then he opened his eyes to check his surroundings but even that was too much. He hit the waterbed a cloud of sand-or dirt or whatever was at the bottom drifted up. He kept his eyes shut, he was determined not to die, and if he did he would never accept it. Garlic Feather was fighting for energy, for something to hold onto or hope, but not even star clan seemed to care about how many prayers he'd sent to them. Just like before, every second he thought it couldn't get colder it did. He recalled that moment when Dandelion had fallen into the water, and he had to save her, maybe this was star clans way of giving him punishment for it? All his thoughts were either on punishment, or what his final thoughts would be. What would make it all seem worth it? Nothing seemed like it was worthy of being a final thought. He was still awake, barely. And drained of all energy if it hadn't already been drained. Of course, he tried to speak but he soon regretted it. What Bee brain tried to speak under water! He did apparently.
