Goddess Of Music

Goddess Of Music
Play script written by Kataro
TW: mentions of bad parents, death, & fire.
Act 1, scene 1
It is sunhigh of greenleaf. A few cats are running around, chasing each other. In the middle of the clearing is a tall tom cat with, presumingly, his only kit. The kit looks to be around 2 moons old. Both are talking with each other.
Apollo. No, Violin, this is a rabbit skull!
Violin. It doesn't look like a rabbit. It looks like... like..- the barking creature!
Apollo. He chuckles. A dog's skull is different. He points to the teeth. You see this?
Violin. Yeah.
Apollo. A dog would have more teeth. Rabbit skulls don't have those kind of teeth.
Violin. But why?
Apollo. His nose points down to the grass. They eat grass, not meat.
Violin. She gasps. But how? I can't imagine a life without eating mice!
Apollo. They're just... built different.
Another cat enters the scene. It is a she-cat with striking blue eyes. She seems to be impatient, like she has been waiting a long time for something.
Thalia. Apollo, dear, did you forget?
Apollo. He turns his head. Forget what?
Thalia. Our hunt.
Apollo. Oh!- He jumps up. Sorry, Violin. We'll have to play another time.
Violin. Okay...
Thalia. Viola, stay near the others and do not go anywhere, got it?
Violin. Okay!
Both cats leave the scene, leaving Violin with the other cats.
Scene 2
It is now sundown. Both cats come back to the smell of smoke. Thalia almost chokes on the scent.
Thalia. What is that smell? Don't tell me..-
Apollo. Hold on, sweetheart. It just might be the twolegs.
Thalia and Apollo both continue their walk, and they come back to the sight of fire.
Thalia. She screams. Fire!
Apollo tries to run into the fire. Thalia stops him.
Thalia. Where are you going?!
Apollo. While still staring at the fire. I need to get Violin.
Thalia. Don't! You're going to kill yourself!
Apollo. I don't care! Violin's still in there!
Apollo escapes from Thalia's grasp, and runs into the scene. He coughs on the smoke spreading everywhere. He finally spots Violin a few feet from him, wailing. He grabs her, then tries to run out. A branch starts to fall, and Apollo throws Violin out of the fire. The branch falls on Apollo, trapping him.
Both cats scream. { Thalia. Apollo!. . .{ Violin. Daddy!
Thalia stares at the fire for a few moments, before she breaks down.
Thalia. While with claws unsheathed. This is all your fault! If you had just-.. if you- if you weren't there then Apollo would still be here!
Violin. I'm sorry mommy! She's sobbing at this point.
Thalia. Sorry does not bring back Apollo! She screams as she scratches Violin across the face.
Violin. Ow! Ow...- She is now wailing.
Thalia roughly grabs Violin. Some of her tears are still trickling down her cheek. Both cats leave the scene.
