white and dark tabbied grey striped tail flicked from side to side repetitively, hitting the ground with a dull thump every time. single tipped ear twitching every once in a while, some sort of internal turmoil, be that due to thoughts or past events, could be suspected if observed more closely. or perhaps he just like he was in a bad mood, 'mean' even. truly, rookfire should start wondering how much longer he could enforce his believes and the clans rules in such a way as he had been before having kits and apprentices begin to fear him and his erratic nature. the medicine cat got to his paws suddenly, shifting from standing into pacing briefly before joining silentpaw at the edge of the clearing. "hows trainin lookin', silentpaw?" the medicine cat apprentice enquired, having approached the apprentice as if this was anywhere close to his actual duties. but well, how do they say, old habits die hard? he hadnt been that engaged in apprentice training while he was an enforcer, still getting used to the position and the duties while recovering from his injuries and all that to really take a active stance in shadowclans future. from what he knew (because stars the things they had to do were kind of unspecific and you just had to kind of know for some reason) it wasnt really a enforcer thing anyway, more so commander and deputy but..that wasnt really helping his case tho, was it?
back on topic, silentpaw right. rookfire wasnt quite sure if he had ever heard the apprentice speak and had never really questioned it before but now that he was thinking about it and came up entirely blank he was a bit less confident about getting a reply. "need anythin' i can help ye with maybe?" he added after a moment, doing his absolute best to not sound like a desperate loser. he had other things to do as well!! TRUST!!! when has rook ever lied to you huh? he definitely never lies, not to himself and especially not other people and even less so to the reader.

In truth, Mudslide nearly forgot about Rookfire's promotion. Emphasis on nearly. She'd always known he'd been an enforcer for a bit and she was aware he moved up a rank, but she couldn't bother to commit all those things to memory since she never paid attention to promotions. She was happy for the cats who got them, and was glad they could handle something like that, but she never saw it as anything worth remembering.
Mudslide would dread becoming a high rank and all the eyes that came with it. She seemed to be doing a good job avoiding any golden opportunity to be anything more than an ordinary warrior, and she'd like to keep it that way. Though, working wasn't too bad, she actually quite enjoyed doing things. Beit busy work or something a bit more long lasting, she found some joy in having a bit of control but no pressure over a situation.
Since Rookfire brought it up, she figured he wanted some sort of praise. But maybe he didn't. For some reason, maybe the cold was getting to his head, he didn't seem to be walking on eggshells around her like he might've been during their previous interactions, like he was happy to see her. He met her words with a grin. You don't know me. Mudslide thought bitterly, Back off.
Outside? Mudslide couldn't help her ears from perking in interest before her posture deflated. "Cold. No bugs." She mewed, her muzzle wrinkling lightly. She had wanted to snag some more sight seeing before the weather started to nip, but predators had other plans, and so did Dawnstar. So much for sight seeing... And her enthusiasm was killed anyways since that "maybe outing" wasn't going to happen anytime soon.
At his last comment, Mudslide let out an airy scoff. Yeah, maybe those foxes, and owls, and hawks, and badgers, would get their flanks frozen off from the cold weather and decide that Shadowclan meat wasn't worth the trouble. "Ha." She said instead, her maw twitching. If Mudslide knew anything, she knew that a good thing didn't last very long unless she clung to it for dear life.
rookfire of course had no idea what mudslide was thinking but given the fact that words shall be written, rookfire considered the other felines stance. he himself could hardly imagine being a regular warrior at any point in life, even if he wouldve been happy about that at his ceremony, it was just hard to envision himself as anything but a enforcer or high rank at the moment. so used to standing above the majority of other cats and some restrictions within the clan, it would hit him hard to, say, wake up a warrior. trapped in the stuffy warriors den around tens of warm bodies, softly snoring in the dim light instead of on the sparsely moss covered medicine den. he'd never spent a night in the warriors den and stars if he could avoid it he would.
as always, mudslides internal less than nice comments and any potential shifts in her expression went above his head. perhaps the cold was actually getting to his head, feeling a bit giddy as his paws grew colder and colder despite the repeated shuffling of them.
rookfire hummed in response, no bugs. he could...get behind that. even if bugs had never been amongst his personal favourite flora and fauna, bugs and their nice shiny shells were something nice to look at. not so much good for keeping?? wouldnt they get crushed if one kept them in their nest...hmm. "if ye just wanna take a walk 's fine as well 's long as i n maybe 'nother cat can come. gotta make sure everyone save ya know" he shrugged, happily ignoring the fact that hes been leaving camp pretty much every few days alone. perhaps he was too confident in himself but he could climb a bit, he could swim, run or fight, there was no reason to fear anything right now.
at her scoff, cool grey eyes narrowed, "we're dealin' with th' predators, 'right, 's all under control"

Eveningpaw stretched themselves and padded over to the fresh-kill pile, grumbling. Wow. They reallyREALLY desperately needed a mentor change. Their current one wouldn't even train them! How would they possibly be a promising warrior without TRAINING? Frowning, they took a spot on a sunny place in the clearing, tearing into a vole. If they went any further with no training, they were sure they were going to explode!
rookfire lingered in the entrance of the medicine den again, paws tucked underneath his body in a neat loaf in order to shield himself from the cold, cool hard packed soil beneath draining some of the warmth his body was producing, as he looked through the lichen shroud covering the medicine dens entrance and currently shielding him from sight. he felt slightly weird for this, especially with how often he found himself in his situation nowadays, but in his defence, it was slightly less cold in here and he could be available for treatment without risking someone talking to him he didnt want to talk to, unlike when he chose the outside.
one of the newer apprentices moved into his field of vision, previously unfocussed eyes returning from their relaxed state to properly observe the oddly coloured cat. it was kind of sick actually, half ginger half blueish grey huh, he couldnt say he had a coat colour as cool as that unless grey with their stripes and spots was anything extraordinary out of nowhere. whatever. the apprentice looked a bit upset and rookfire had nothing better to do, so why not get to know them huh? he'd never spoken to them and as a enforcer,,,high rank..whatever, either or, or both, he felt required to at least chat with every clanmate once in his life, and this would be his one time with eveningpaw unless anything else came up. not that he would mind providing training, he was just not really looking to taking a apprentice outside right now. maybe tomorrow. seriously, he could probably be convinced to help with training now without much effort thought.
the medicine cat padded over to where the multi colour cat was currently tearing into a vole angrily and slumped down next to them, giving the cat a half nod. "you good? the vole do anythin' ta' ya?" rook asked, half serious half joking, the corners of his maw quirked up slightly as cool grey eyes crinkled at the corners.

The dark gray and brown kit sat in the clearing messing with a mouse before eating it moving it back’ n forth before bending down to eat it, the mouse tasted good as it filled her stomach as the kit was just about to lay down and sun herself a familiar face showed themself … rookfire Fish turned her gaze up at the medics apprentice her green eyes studying the lean toms face as they spoke “ It feels weird having the scar, but nothing i won't get used to” she meowed “ FInally getting the herb smell out of my pelt” she added
in a way, fishkit appeared to be in a slightly better mood than the last time they had met. he was too, not sticky with drying mud weighing down his pelt, instead with it freshly groomed and soft. no real open complaint regarding the scar, good. "good lass" despite not acting very mature regarding the sneaking out of camp and fox situation, he could recognise her taking the scar in stride as a step forward. perhaps some reflecting had happened between then and now, but hell what did he know.
he tilted his head slightly to look at the healed flesh, still a light pinkish colour from how recent the injury was, from a different angle before she spoke her next sentence. glad to get rid of the herb scent, unexpected. she wouldnt make a good medicine cat for multiple reasons but this was probably one of the more relevant ones, good she didnt appear to be striving for that path. "didnt think that'd be the thing ta' bother you" rookfire commented with a humorous huff. he liked the smell, liked knowing cats would smell not only his own scent and recognise him as shadowclan but also the heavy herby fragrance that stuck to his pelt and clearly identified him as a medicine cat (if he didnt have any clear wounds that could explain the scent anyway) at first glace.. or rather first smell. "'s the eye alright? can still see outta both?" the medicine cat apprentice enquired, with such a large scar it wouldnt be much of a surprise to find out she had lost half her vision and even more so if she hadnt. if this was repeating what mossfreckle had already gone over with her he didnt really care, should expect some questions if you decide to almost die.

Sleepysunrise
[ 13 moons | She / Her | Shc Enforcer | Shadow Fiend ]
Blink. Blink. Duskpaw seemed upset. Strange. Rookfire showed up, too. He didn’t look like he enjoyed the show either. Why? She knew Duskpaw had been talking nonsense to Hawkpaw. They were… Arguing. And Sleepysunrise didn’t like arguing. So then, why did Duskpaw suddenly seem upset at her? The enforcer looked at her with a gaze you could almost call clueless or condescending. But Sleepysunrise didn’t like Duskpaw’s answer. It made her feel things in her chest she couldn’t place. Not grief or sympathy, even if the enforcer wouldn’t know. Anger.
Rookfire spoke first, the words streaming by her on near deaf ears. Her mind was lazered into Duskpaw, unsettlingly bright gaze locked on the apprentice. It was sad to hear of his loses, perhaps it shone light on why he left the fish in the first place, it reminded her of Darkfall’s loses. The stranger. She blinked, again, strangely often for her doing. Even Rookfire mentioned mama and the little apprentice-sized molly considered the facts. She knew mama had trained Rookfire. She had thought mama preferred Rookfire. Rationally speaking mama didn’t, but even Rookfire addressed the topic in such a way the thoughts couldn’t be avoided. They resurfaced, pushing the temples of the she-cat in manners that made her head hurt.
“She wasn’t.”
The enforcer finally stated, mater-of-factly. “She was… Your Great aunt. At best. But mama... Never called Cougarbite cousin.”
In that regard, if she considered familiar ties, she would almost think Rookfire was family with the way the fish hung onto Mossfreckle’s baitless hook; mama had been close to the more experience medic, she knew their ties to be strong.
“Oh.”
She stared on, reminded of Duskpaw’s revelation on her lack of presence. She tilted her head. She spoke of herself in the past as if she had changed, which puzzled the feline who had seen no changes in her. Other than growing louder. More disruptive. “You are slow.”
She confirmed to herself, pondering those words. “You should… Be nicer. And train.”
That’s what Nightshiver told the kits, right, to be nice when they argued? She found Duskpaw’s statements to have little sense. She should be nicer to her sister. She was here now. Sleepysunrise flicked an ear. Had it been Hawkpaw grieving Cougarbite’s disappearance, it would have made more sense. Hawkpaw was gone up until recent, was she not? Or had she been slacking too?
Her eyes settled on Duskpaw again. “Tomorrow. Sunrise.”
A blank stare bore into the apprentice as she stated those words; a clear intention to assess Duskpaw and see where she had gotten over the past five moons. If she had been here all this time, the enforcer deemed it an utmost oddity that Duskpaw was still untrained as she seemed to be. Not a warrior assessment, mind you.
With nothing more to add lest the apprentice continue her show, Sleepysunrise’s gaze shifted over to the newest medic who seemed both keen and evasive of his role. She couldn’t quite place where Rookfire stood.

"Yup! All good!" She cheerfully assured him. Were medicine cats usually... This good at pointing out whether something was wrong? Nah, she bet other cats were great at it, too! Like herself! She felt her smile falter for a moment, but managed to bring it back, her tail twitching uncomfortably. "Why?"

Oh wow. The weather was sure getting colder by the day. Which Silentpaw did NOT like. At all. He shivered slightly, curling around himself at the edge of the clearing as he attempted to shield himself from the gentle yet chilling breeze.
The tortoiseshell tabby tom couldn't help but flinch slightly when Rookfire had joined him, shifting to look at the Medicine Cat Apprentice. Aaaaaand there it was again. A non-yes-or-no question. He frowned internally, refusing to actually show the emotion externally. He went over several things in his head, to make sure whatever he said did not seem too... Strange.
"Good." was all the young tom replied with, flicking his bobbed tail and shrugging. Almost as if he wasn't truly sure what he was talking about. Hopefully that summed it all up. Then came another one of those questions Silentpaw so dreaded. Hm. How to answer...
Silentpaw wasn't aware he'd been silent for a... Painfully long time after Rookfire had asked the question. Haphazardly searching his mind for something to say, he blurted out, "Uh- m-maybe."
...
Dammit. He hadn't been meaning to say that at all. Would have been much easier for him if he'd just... Dunno, shrugged or something. Silentpaw cursed to himself, turning away from the dark-furred cat to the ground.

"Well, this vole isn't gonna train me, is it?" They tapped the mentioned prey with a paw. "I mean, I might as well have a vole train me at this point. Nobody else's doing it anyway!" Their pleasant expression grew into a deep scowl. Lowering their voice to a mere whisper, the colourful feline leaned in closer to Rookfire.
