He almost flinched as he felt the nudge on his side, unsure of the cause, but of course he would quickly relax upon seeing the familiar she, the one that grew so heavily on him. The headbutt went from shock to some sense of joy in seconds as he leaned down and licked the top of her head in a caring response.
He still kept his ears perked for OwlTalons words. At least one warrior…so that means there could only be one in some cases…he cast a glance to WisteriaWren then back to OwlTalon. Hopefully the deputy would see some sign to put them in a group together? Sure, Wisty may not be 100% the most experienced hunter…but what was more rewarding? Some skulls and feathers or just…the chance to spend time with her? The reward of seeing her achieve some hunting with the slight help of RowanMane? He was pretty sure he knew where his loyalties remained in answer to that question.
@Rose [ahhh, I could never pass up anything with these two-]

Starrypaw silently padded up to the deputy in the cold, cold clearing. A huge shiver ran down her spine, and she actively fought the urge to return to her warm den. Or should she?

Seabreeze stepped out to the gathering crowd of cats, another hunting event? Strange. Maybe he should throw his paw at hosting another event, he didn't really mind doing so, and he usually got quite a few people joining somehow. Hmmm... what should he do though.... maybe something kit and apprentice focused, because hunting event, hunting event... they haven't had many aimed towards their young in a couple of moons and who knows what the kits will do if left a bit too bored for a bit too long. Plan an uprising probably, rest in peace Stormstar.
Blue eyes caught on movement and Seabreeze looked over to see Starrypaw joining with the rest of the group. Oh... For some reason, maybe it was because he was just... stuck in his own memories half the time, but he saw a bit of himself in Starrypaw. The grief of a sister lost too soon. He frowned, at least she was actually up and doing things rather than rotting away in his nest like he did. The former lionheart padded over, but kept a respectful distance away, a polite dip of his head in greeting. And sat so that he was blocking some of the bitter breeze from hitting the apprentice. Why was leaffall so cold?

Irisfrost
Irisfrost hadn't completed any patrols lately, and with leaf-bare fast approaching, this wasn't a good time to be inactive. So when Owltalon's call for a hunting competition rang across camp, Irisfrost padded towards the Skyridge where the deputy was perched, her fur fluffed out against the chill. She didn't have a particularly thin pelt, but her winter coat had not yet fully kicked in. Soon, hopefully.
As she joined the slowly gathering crowd, she noticed a familiar white tom among them. Her apprentice, Breezepaw. It was good to see he was participating in the event, even though (as far as she knew) he hadn't yet learned to hunt. She might have to teach him as they went- assuming they were put in the same group. Worst comes to worst, he wouldn't be able to take part in the event. No big deal; there was always another one.
Irisfrost took a seat next to her apprentice, wrapping her tail around her paws. "Breezepaw. How are you?" She paused to let him answer before asking her next question. "I assume you haven't had a land hunting lesson yet? I can give you a quick run-down before the event starts if not." It wasn't a full lesson, but it was something, and a lot of hunting was practice anyway. He probably wouldn't catch a lot in this event, but it was the first step towards proficiency.

Oh! Hi Irisfrost! I got a couple lessons but I would really like to learn more techniques to hunt before the event! I already know the hunting crouch but still!

Irisfrost
Oh, he had already had a couple of lessons? He hadn't mentioned them to her at the meeting, but maybe they were kit lessons, or he had received them in the meantime. It didn't matter either way; the point was that she wasn't teaching him from scratch. "Okay, you might already know some of this, but I'll tell you anyway. When you're trying to pick up a scent, draw your tongue over the roof of your mouth. Then, when you find one, pinpoint it and make sure you're downward, so your prey can't smell you. Then stalk it." Irisfrost watched Breezepaw for a moment, making sure her apprentice had heard her instructions. "Now show me your hunting crouch." Hopefully it wouldn't need too much adjustment; they had limited time, after all.

Starrypaw dipped her head respectfully to the young warrior, and she couldn't avoid noticing that he'd sit just from the direction the cold wind hit her. She stared up at him gratefully for a few seconds, then crouched in a violent shake of her body. It was getting awfully cold. How could she learn to hunt in such weather? Maybe Seabreeze could... help her? "Uhmm.." She murmured, but she couldn't bring herself to ask him. No, it was obvious that he would be busy. She was just going to look away...
