"Aye, chief?" Owltalon stood outside of the leaders den, her long tail held high in curiosity as she called for the leader. She had a cat to introduce her to, a new member at that. After leading the outsider from the border, she brought her here.
The deputy titled her head just slightly, merely in a questioning fashion as her raspy mews sounded from outside the den. "Gotta outsider hopin' ta join. Went through the process, so I'm here ta let cha look at 'er." She explained curtly, a smile sneaking it's way into her maw. "'Name was Heron, but she seems old enough ta be a 'paw." She offered. She figured the extra information was needed, even though she obviously wasn't inside the den.
She then turned to the younger cat, her expression softening. "If the chief lets us in, you'll be meetin' 'er and she'll be meetin' ya. 'Er name is Stormstar, since ya didn't know that already. Ya don't come in till she tells ya to, and ya don't leave till she tells ya too either. Got that, chap?"

She followed behind the deputy, nervousness hit her as soon as they got close to the leaders den. Her anxiety was high before, but now it was really high. The young cat listened as she told her the rules of the den. The leader sounded scary by the sound of it. Never has she felt more fear than she did now. She pushed it away not showing that she was afraid. Heron kept her posture straight as she waited to be told to enter.
Coming back only to get Barleypaw into warriorhood, but then I most likely will be leaving entirely. I've spend too much time on her to not have her be a warrior and I'd like to get her there.
lilyglide sighed as she quickly padded into the leader's den, She wasn't sure when she would need the time off as a queen. To tend to her kits, but she did know she had to tell Stromstar about the information she had just learned. The mostly white she sat down. "I am sorry to bother you Stormstar," she spoke softly "I would like to say that I am expecting kits sometime soon." She knew they were going to come sometime soon she didn't know when. " and may need to be exempt from my warrior duties in a moon or so." she mews.
Whisperingkit was unsure if this was worth doing on not...but she needed to finally put this burning question to rest. The silvery she-cat took a deep breath, standing at the entrance to Stormstar's den. "U-Um...S-Stormstar?" She mewed softly. "M-May I...confirm s-something with you?" She paused to consider her wording carefully. Confirm seemed to be the most fitting.
[OOC: Whispering is going to ask Stormstar about training under Berryshine and Cobwebfern. I know that's not how HR positions are selected, however given how she's been questioning it throughout my RPs of her I feel like it would be most realistic for her character if she asked Stormstar about it lol. ]

Hot out of the gathering Adderstrike walked up to Stormstar's den and poke her head in with a small amount of worry worn on her face. "Hey Stormstar, is it alright if I come in and talk to you...?" She said cautiously given the circumstances.
Stormstar - RiverClan Leader
Turning from where she had been grooming herself, the leader looked up as she heard pawsteps approach her den followed by the head of Adderstrike. "...What's happened now?" The cautious tone that she was using, the way she seemed worried... Stormstar felt the headache that had become a constant start to flare up trying to figure out why. Brows furrowed together the gray-furred leader turned her body to face the den entrance, waiting for whatever rock was about to drop.
Or maybe she was just being overly paranoid. Lack of sleep lately, probably. Still Stormstar remained silent, waiting for whatever it was Adderstrike wanted to talk about.

Littlestream entered the leader's den. "Stormstar?" she began. "I would like to request to become a queen. I wish to take care of my adoptive kits in the nursery and possibly permanently stay a queen? I understand if there's already a max number of permanent queens in the nursery but please let me become a queen, temporary or permanent."
Well, she definitely needed a new nest that was for sure. As Stormstar shook the loose piece of dusty, dry moss from her paws, she didn't notice at first some cat approaching her den. Littlestream's voice jolted her from her thoughts as she came into the den. Oh? "...Who're your adoptive kits?" The leader wasn't sure how keen she was to move a warrior into the nursery when they had plenty capable queens, but she'd at least hear her out first before settling on a decision.

"'N if you do, you'll be missin' a paw when you leave," came the joking tone of Stormstar as she appeared at the entrance of the den, blue eyes alight with a rare sighting of humor. Nodding to Owls, her gaze shifted towards Heron who... was practically drenched in fear-scent. "...That was a joke, kid." Nodding with her head and offering a slight chuckle, the gray-furred leader ducked back inside her den and flicked her tail for her deputy and the outsider to follow.
"Heron, huh? Where were you before comin' here?" She trusted Owls to not just bring any riff raff into camp, so there was no need to go over a whole new joining process. But it wouldn't hurt to figure out a little more about the cat before her since there was a pretty good likelihood of her joining.
☘︎ She listens, but doesn’t take much offense to what is being said. Pebblesplash isn’t stupid, she knows she could have done much better, especially with her empty promises. “I apologize, Stormstar. No more excuses from here. Starclan let me back here to serve like I promised, and it’s my fault for neglecting that. I didn’t exactly know where to start before, and rather than trying, I sat, I pondered and I lazed around. It’s a real poor look, yes, but when you gave me that apprentice, something… flipped inside me. So from now on, my time will be dedicated strictly to RiverClan and making sure I fulfill every promise I made,” she let a silence fill the den before speaking again.
☘︎ “ah, I also wanted your permission for something. You don’t mind if I take some apprentices out on the territory for some training right? Obviously I’ll be bringing another warrior, unless you want a lionheart to accompany me instead? Thought I should ask permission before just going ahead and doing it…”

At least the warrior before her had enough sense to recognize her own faults, and that was something Stormstar could approve of. It made her relax a little, even, because it did genuinely sound like Pebblesplash wanted to get better. "Good to hear it. I'd rather that then have to kick you out. 'S not somethin' I particularly enjoy doin'." A lot of the decisions she had to make since becoming leader she hadn't particularly enjoyed, but that wasn't something she wanted to give any thought effort to right now.
Permission for something? Angling her ears towards the warrior, Stormstar blinked. "Don't need to ask my permission for trainin' cats. 'Nfact, I'd be glad if you did. Some of the warriors around here don't seem to give a fish's fin about trainin' the Clans' youth, so I'm sure they could get some use out of a trainin' outtin'." Plus with the foxes and otters both taken care of, it wasn't as dangerous (hopefully). "If you plan on bringin' more than two apprentices with you, take another warrior just incase." ...Better safe than sorry though.
Heroneye stepped in at Stormstar's den at the leader's desk prompting, her shoulders tense. She just had to talk. Get it all out into the open. Then everything would go back to normal, right? Certainly not for Softpaw, commented a voice in the back of her mind. Heroneye ignored it.
"I was taking my apprentice, Softpaw, out for swimming training--" Alright. One sentence in, and she was already babbling and bringing up irrelevant information. She paused, briefly scowling, as if irritated with the bickering in her own internal word. She paused to recollect herself, trying to keep the image of the waterlogged corpse out of her mind.
"We were just beginning when Softpaw spotted something in the water: blood." She sounded calmer as she spoke now, though the story didn't match that direction. "After inspecting the area, we found its source: Sweetsap's body.
"From what I could tell, there were no signs of foul play. She seems to have fallen in and gotten her fur caught on something, causing her to drown," she continued. Of course, most any cat's first reaction would be to suspect murder, but Heroneye had no reason to think that any such thing had occurred. She had, after all, just seen the warrior that morning (How quickly things change, Heroneye reflected bitterly), and any other cats' scents in the area had been older than that.
She awkwardly and unceremoniously trailed off after that. What else was there to add, anyway? She was dead, and that was all... She turned her gaze to the leader, awaiting her reaction.
Something about the way Heroneye's face pinched up made Stormstar's heart fall to her paws. The reason for the expression was revealed shortly after, and the leader dropped her gaze. Sweetsap. Memories of their small squabble in the mountains echoed in her mind, followed by the tense situation when the hawks had grabbed Elderkit. Stormstar lashed her tail and shook her head. "Thanks for lettin' me know. She was expectin' kits, too. Was she... did you guys bury her already?" At least they had Seagrass Fields set up now. Stormstar lifted her gaze to meet Heroneye, shoving the grief aside for a moment in favor of being leader.
She'd been denying it for a long time, terrified of what other cats might say about her, terrified of what she might think of herself... but it's likely soon that her and Fishfreckle's kits will be here, and she cannot cling to what comfort her current title brings her anymore. She can't. For StarClan's sake, she was a leader! She's had harder conversations than this before, made tougher decisions in her tenure than the simple act of moving to the nursery... for six moons...
It's mostly the length in which she'll be disallowed to preform warrior duties that makes her nervous. How long has she been back with her Clan? About five moons? And already she's spent two of them being useless after her damn leg and tail got snapped (they healed up fine for the most part... her tail's a little wonky and her leg still feels weak to stand on sometimes but... they've healed). She hates that once again she's going to be useless, that she's going to have to rely on others to provide for her when she can very well provide for herself. But... this isn't just about her. It's for her kits.
"Stormstar," she calls from outside the den, giving the courtesy of being allowed permission - or not - as she had always liked to do things.
Stress. Although Stormstar wasn't sure if it was from the lack of sleep, the subtle paranoia after all the exiles, or just general leader duties. It had been gnawing at her all day to the point where when her stomach rumbled, she realized she hadn't yet eaten today. Just as she stood to exit her den, perhaps go out and do some hunting, a voice sounded from the outside. Larkwing? "Yeah, in here," she called out, watching with blue eyes for the dilute figure of the former leader to come in. It hadn't been all that long since their... talk, and since they Stormstar hadn't spoken much to the other. She cleared her throat, ignoring the urge to shuffle her paws.
