The golden warrior sat somewhat near the nursery, grooming his leg when he heard the angry voices of kits. Sunnypurr grumbled and stood, because whatever adult in there was clearly not handling this properly.
The sunny feline stood to his paws and ducked into the nursery, eyes landing on some very angry kits. And a pissy queen. Great. Sunnypurr took a deep breath, and stepped the rest of way into the den.
"Spottedtail," He said, annoucing his presence with a firm but calm tone. He dipped his head to the cat, and turned to the kits, specifically Patchkit. As rude as the little tom was, he had a point. "Patchkit. As right as you were, that's no right way to speak to an older cat. Unless you had good reason, and then I'd love the hear it." He said firmly, sitting down and lowering his head. Not because they wanted to seen intimidating. Of course not! This little guy was a great kid. Patchkit had missed two apprentice ceremonies, and he was worried something was wrong. So until he could confirm anything, he was going to make things as easy as possible. Sunnypurr cast a glance down at Flickeringkit, warm colored eyes narrowed for a moment.
This kid honestly seemed like a bit of brat. The warrior flicked his tail and turned back to Patchkit.

“o..oh hi sunny.” The kitten calmed upon seeing a trusted adult that he knew wasn’t going to be like Spottedtail. But at the same time he felt guilty, for missing his apprentice ceremonies and for being rude. Not for being mean, this warrior was being mean to him first. The ginger kitten stopped padding away and instead took to sitting back on his haunches. Sunny was speaking and it was sort of almost far away but he wasn’t that far away.

“Sunny! He thought he was louder with that but it still sounded like his own regular talking voice, maybe a little quieter, “I was trying to just nap because I was upset and then Spottedtail scared me awake and and and then she started talking about me being upset and I didn’t wanna talk to her about it so-” Patchkit took a deep breath before continuing, “I told her to leave me alone but then she was like ‘ask Twilightstar so I can be your mentor,’ and I didn’t wanna, then Flickeringkit said stop being rude but Spottedtail was rude to me first.”

The kitten looked at Sunny with teary eyes, overwhelmed with his life to a surprising degree despite being a tiny tot still, “And then me and Flickeringkit argued and Spottedtail yelled at us and said if we bothered any queens or woke any kits she would take us to Twilightstar and Crowtooth even though SHE woke ME up and even though SHE isn’t even a QUEEN! I’m so tired of being upset!” He took to hiding himself under Sunny as much as possible to hide from the world, like a chick and their hen.

The warrior listened to Patchkit's little rant. Okay, okay. This sounded reasonable. Sunnypurr would have the same reaction. The sunny tom let out a reassuring purr. "Hey, Patches. You're okay. Not in trouble," Sunnypurr reassured, tail flicking. He bent down to lick the tom between his ears at the sight of his teary eyes. "Don't stress, kid. I would've done the same thing," Sunnypurr purred. He cast Spottedtail a look saying a whole lot of things, main one being "I will talk to you about this once I get this child calmed down." Sunnypurr turned back to Patchkit. "Do you want to go nap in the warriors den?" He asked. "I'm sure there's not many warriors in there, and I'll make sure nobody wakes you." He added, tail flicking. Sunnypurr felt bad for the small tom. 2 apprentice ceremonies missed, parents either dead or just gone. Patchkit really just seemed stressed overall. Honestly why can't people just let this poor kid sleep? At the thought, his whiskers twitched with amusement. That was ironic, saying as how that he first met this kit. He mistook him for his dad.. Sunnypurr pushed away the memory.

"look I wasn't beeing rude I was concerned for him cause earlier he looked upset and when I called his name he didn't answer. so I went and nuzzled him and I didnt mean to startle him. and yes I told them to stop fighting cause I didn't want one of the younger kits to cry and wake up the queens. I'm sorry sunnypurr I should go." spottedtail mews sadly and leaves the nursery

"oh and again Patchkit I'm sorry and I guess I hope whoever you get for your mentor that they will train you and you will become the finest warrior." spottedtail ads turning around to look at patchkit then leaving the nursery.

Blank. That was the state of Cardinalkit's- No... Gnawingpaw's mind. Everything had gone... wrong. Her name? Gone. She knew there was another Cardinalpaw in WindClan. Jaggs had told her he'd met the doppelganger. But like, that had been a lifetime ago. When they were small, not big kits ready to be apprenticed. Why'd her name have to go and change just because some loser hadn't earned his warrior name yet? If anything he should be the one getting a new name. Something to reflect just how pointless he was. Loserpaw. Or Dissapointmentpaw. Maybe even Unworthypaw. Anything that wasn't her rightful name.

Any other moment and Cardi- Gnawingpaw would have been throwing a fit. Maybe not in public - she was an apprentice now, so her days of getting her way just because were gone, she knew as much - but her littermates would have heard about it. Twilightstar would have probably gotten a complaint. She would have somehow managed to spin a narrative that this was probably Crowtooth's fault because he was a petty brat and it just seemed like the kind of thing he would pull off in his position of undeserved power. Instead, any thought about herself was gone when she realized something even worse than her name having changed.

Frostkit's had not. He was still Frostkit. Now... the fluffy calico might complain about the rockheads for days, but never, not once in her life, would she consider leaving them behind for anything. They were her family. Treasures just like her. Or rather... just like she had been. So why the hell was he not here?! Snowydad had placed stupid flowers on all of them back in the nursery. True, he hadn't said exactly why he had given them the flowers, but any mouse brain could figure it out. Seriously, of all the times Frost had to decide that following Jaggs around was beneath him. Oh... once she got her paws on him she was going to kick his ass.

Gnawingpaw didn't really notice how she had turned around to walk straight for the nursery to check up on her brother. Her motions had been automatic, her brain too turbulent and numb with negativity to pay attention to her surroundings. It had been a miracle, in all honesty, that she had made it to their nest without bumping into anyone... or anything. It wasn't until Frost grinned that stupid, toothy, lopsided grin of his at her that she managed to start processing everything, including his sneeze. The molly's blank stare slowly melted, replaced by a frown. One that mixed anger, indignation, and concern all in one fiery glare.

"Y-you... You ROCKHEAD!" she yowled, finally finding her voice.

It lacked any real vitriol in it, her worry for her littermate's very potential illness taking priority over her anger at his silence on it, at how this meant they were not apprenticed together... At how she had lost her name and split her family over their not talking to her and telling her they needed help of some kind and couldn't make the ceremony. Damn it, didn't he know that if he couldn't make it then none of them should?! They were just four months old. She was willing to beat up Jaggs if he complained about their staying back to wait for Frost to get better... not that she thought that would be necessary. But the damage had been done. For better or worse, Frostkit was still a kit, and she was a treasure no more.

"How long?" Gnawingpaw sniffed, her pale green orbs half lidded in contempt as she looked down at the lying Frostkit, refusing to let herself sound as concerned as she felt. She was still angry, damn it. She'd be worried if it was something serious and not something stupid like his face.
