Sugar and Sun's Barn [open thread]

About the area:

A rustic old barn made out of wood and steel. Twolegs live nearby and visit the barn sometimes. Twoleg dirt roads just out from different directions.

To the left of the barn are fields of wheat where mice and rats hide. It also has wire fences that hold sheep, cows and horses. There is also a chicken coop.

To the right is a forest holding the Twoleg nest. There are pigeons, mice, voles and foxes in the forest. On the edge of their territory a small pond sits where water is collected from.

Inside the barn are piles of hay and Twoleg tools. There is a wooden board next to a ladder that leads to a small area on top. There lays a barn window that is used to see from afar.

About the cats:

Brown Sugar: A brown tabby who lives in the barn with her brother Sunshine. @ nyx

Sunshine: A golden tabby who lives inside the barn with his sister Sugar. @ hermeswind

Ash: A large grey expecting queen who lives inside the barn. @ Red'fur


(VM me if you want cats to live nearby them! Ex: A kit wants to take shelter in the barn or a rouge lives in the forest.)

Brown Sugar glanced over to Ash with a hard look. She didn't want to force her to do anything but she needed to do what was right for her safety. "Now I'm not going to force you to do anythin', she began, her chest fur shifting her bandana around, "I will support you through this, but you are always free to leave at anytime." Sugar softened her gaze and brushed her tail on Ash's flank.

"I'd be worried for you if you wanted to go, worried sick, but if you want to leave you can. Think about you're kits. Once you've had them you can go off on your merry way." She honestly didn't know the she-cat very well, but she doesn't do with losing others very easily. That's why she sticks with Sun. If she ever lost Sunshine she wouldn't know what to do. Sugar waited patiently for an answer, fur prickling with anticipation.

* She nodded and pressed against Sug. She looked around warily. *

"I appreciate your trust and I'll continue to earn it." she dipped her head in respect. She gave Ash a quick lick on the ear and started towards the inside of the den, with the loner leaning on her. Once inside she glanced around for her brother, Sunshine. "Sun? You here?" she called, pushing away from the queen. When she didn't here him right away she shrugged. He must be out hunting or something, she'd have liked for him to meet Ash.

Sugar turned back to the expecting queen. "There are some piles of hay here, so you can just choose one and settle down." Sugar shuffled her injured paw awkwardly. She couldn't wait to settle down herself and sleep the stinging pain off. But it was nice to have a new person in the barn. "I'll be over here, just call me if ya need anythin'!" The brown tabby plopped down on her familiar haybed and curled her paws under her.

* She nodded and looked around. She spotted a stack of hay and noticed it was quite a bit bigger than some others. She slowly clambered her way up and started to clear out some of the hay to make a nest. When she was satisfied she laid down and curled around her baby bump. She gave it a swift lick and gently purred. She shook her head and stretched. She rolled around a bit to get comfy and finally drifted off to sleep. *

"Wh?" he murmured, hearing his name. "What's- oh. Hello there."
He padded forward, looking at his sister, then at the new cat. "Who are you?"
Realising they were moments too late, he asked his sister for their name instead.

Her eyes shone as a familar face appeared in the barn. "Hey Sun!" she meowed before lowering her voice for the sleeping queen. She rose to her paws once again, she just got comfortable, and trotted over to her brother. Sugar touched her pink nose to his cheek before pulling away with a smile. Her green eyes flicked towards the sleeping cat before looking at his bright green eyes.

"Her name is Ash. I met her in the forest. She was just so scared and lonely." Brown Sugar started, her tail flicking nervously. She lowered her tone so only Sunshine can hear. "Ash told me her mate used her and then tossed her aside like a piece of maggot-filled prey." Of course that's not what Ash said exactly but she might as well have. Sugar's eyes flashed with brief spike fury before continuing. "I told her she can stay. Just to stay warm and safe until the kits come. I don't know if she'll stay forever but I felt like I had to offer it."

The brown tabby looked sheepishly at Sunshine. "I'm sorry I didn't ask first. I know it's just the two of us here, I think we have the space..." Sugar sat down to avoid putting pressure on her injured paw. "I couldn't leave her out there alone. She and those kit's deserve a better life."

"Oh... How dare they... And it's fine. It's fine. We can afford to feed extra mouths." Sunshine snarled at the air, hopig to end up digging his claws in that cat's betrayer.

" N-no not my kits. t-they're too young. Please don't hurt them. "
