Between Batglare's obvious concern and Lightningstorm's shrewd gaze, it seemed the senior warrior had been cornered, and Dapplebreeze couldn't help but sigh in defeat. She didn't speak much, merely nodded once the medicine cat made her orders clear. Proud as she was, unwilling to admit to her own injuries and waste precious resourced that could go towards cats who would benefit more greatly from them, the patched feline had never been one to disobey a direct command. Hawkfur was nowhere to be seen, and for the most part, the most injured of the cats had been tended to. She still would have preferred to have been seen when all others had been checked out - if at all - but... as long as the father of her grandkits was alright, she would comply without complaint, the occasional flinch not withstanding.
No sooner had the calico turned to her patient - albeit with her eye carefully placed on the pair besides, no doubt making sure her apprentice was doing alright - than Rabbitpaw stepped forward, speaking to her in a polite fashion so different to Lightningstorm's that the fury couldn't help but purr lightly in an affectionate manner. An action that caused more coughing to shake her and apply pressure on her seared pads as a result. A low hiss of pain escaping her even as she tried her best to control herself, she once again flinched, the pain clear enough in her face to make out with ease. Not that she would have kept it quiet for the sake of hiding it anymore. The oriental shorthair mix had been clear in what was expected of her here. Yet she couldn't help but wish - for the sake of her dignity - to have weathered this interaction with a little more subtlety than she was currently presenting. Stars... what would her Silverpelt residing kits think of their mother... so hopelessly weak as she appeared now?
Cough under control, Dapplebreeze attempted to clear her throat before she thought better of it. The last thing she needed was another coughing fit to course through her before she had drunk from the honeyed water. Gingerly, she offered one paw forward, turning it over for the apprentice to see, the pads seared and opened, the skin seemingly tearing itself where she had been burnt worst. Her vision swam mildly, and she wondered if she was getting ill as well. In earnest, she was probably only tired. The heat of the flames had not fully left her, or so it felt, with the flesh beneath her fur still feeling hot and uncomfortable despite the inferno having been averted with only her paws as testimony to her having been there. Even as she avoided panting for various reasons - it would be unsightly as well as irritating to her throat at best - in an attempt to cool herself, the sight of the scorched pads made it clear - to her, at least - why she might still feel like the flames were engulfing her. Impossible to feel the coolness of the earth beneath her when there was nothing but blazing pain at her feet.
"I do... seem to have... incurred... some damages," the former queen mewed unsteadily, her mouth overly salivating as she attempted to speak. A fact she ignored as she tried to focus on the obvious injury at paw... quite literally at that.
The apprentice calmed just a mere fraction as he watched Miss Dapplebreeze have some of the honey water, which would hopefully offer some solace from the pain and discomfort while Rabbitpaw saw to the rest of her injuries. Speaking of which, he didn't really think it was just throat and paws, which, her paws looked not great... maybe worse than Duckfeather's... but the Lieutenant seemed off. Like there was something he couldn't see plaguing her as well. Sure it was normal to feel tired after something like fighting a fire, but to this degree? Can you get sick from being around fires? Or.. having burns? Surely infection couldn't settle in mere hours otherwise Miss Lightningstorm would've said something about it.
"I see, it'll be okay. I have a poultice I can put on it that can help some of the pain, and then we'll wrap them up with moss and vines to prevent um too much pressure on the wounds. Though I recommend taking it easy, to be sure." He could understand working on paws that are injured doesn't quite help the healing process. As he finished speaking he grabbed some of the dubbed 'cleaning moss', and started to clean off the paws, wouldn't do to leave dirt, that wasn't healthy. He knew that for sure from scoldings about his *COUGH CROWTOOTH TAUGHT COUGH* habits of hygiene. He pushed the moss away after clearing the image of burned tearing, he would need... Comfrey. A leaf, not a root. It would need to be made into a poultice to cover the full burn rather than just wrapping..
"Okay so, I need to go and grab herbs for the poultice and wrap, I'll be right back." He offered, as an explanation, waiting for any word from the older Molly before scrambling away to grab everything as quick and neatly as he could. Yep, yep, yep, all the things after some searching. Would it be better to drag up the poultice rocks as well? From how many cats were left, and how Miss Lightningstorm seemed calmer about them ( enough to let him attend to a patient at least ), he figured there wouldn't be many more injuries in need of it. But also he was taught that the rocks were better, but that was mostly for medicine Cat comfort. He was over thinking this.
"Okay..." He landed on just mashing the poultice in the den, so he could carry just one rock up around the moss and vine. Probably not a smart thing to do, but he wasn't a very smart cat, he was just good at following instructions and overthinking. Maybe he would be less nervous about this stuff with experience. Rabbitpaw wasn't so nervous during tunneling training, likely because he wasn't actively attempting to heal clan mates and mistakes were a lot less severe. He motioned for Miss Dapplebreeze's paws again, planning to apply the poultice ( which was hopefully fine... it was, he did the same thing Miss Lightningstorm did for Duckfeather's paws ) on them. The moss and vines, for binding because it wasn't bleeding so no need for mushrooms or cobwebs.. and yeah. He felt like a crow stuck repeating the same phrases to himself.
"Are you feeling sick at all? Tired?" Rabbitpaw asked, remembering his earlier anxieties about the molly's demeanor.

Leechscar flinched as Batglare so graciously 'helped' him over to Badgerbait. Then he left him to go talk to his girlfriend! Leechscar would have bemoaned how he was left behind to sulk in pain all by his lonesome. But his roleplayer was tired and only making a quick post so he doesn't forget later.

Finishing Deadmoon's treatment, the oriental mix twitched her ear, pleased to find that there were only two patients left. Finally. Her aching paws would be able to rest. Rabbitpaw was probably feeling the strain as well... although considering that he was used to Crowtooth's daily routines and tunneling of all things, the physical maneuvering and darting back and forth had probably done little to exhaust him. Mentally, however, she would be surprised if he wasn't doing a little worse than her. It was never easy to see so many injured cats, but at least she had the practice. The experience. This was his first time handling so many cases at once.
"Looks like we're almost done here, Ears. Let's make sure our last two patients are doing well and we can go get something to eat before doing inventory of the herb storage, yeah?" she purred amicably, hoping to sound more energetic than she felt before padding towards Chuckles, the dullness in her eyes slowly vanishing as she realized that the tom's paws looked far worse the closer she got to him than she had first realized.
"You know Chuckles, between you and Dapplebreeze, I'm starting to think you furies have a stubbornness issue. Burns like those I would have tended to before the patients with just a mild throat ache if you had bloody well let me known. Honestly... Here, let me see them. At least you didn't use all four paws. Hmmm... looks to be mostly superficial, innit? Should heal fine. Rabbitpaw, love. Get me a poultice of burdock root going while I assess the damage. Does it hurt anywhere else? Any other burns I should know about?" Lightningstorm asked, her exhaustion forgotten as she gestured for the tom to give her his paws to examine, fully intending to check him over for any other potential injuries he might be hiding while her apprentice made her the poultice. With how many they'd made today, he would hopefully be starting to feel more comfortable with her poultice rocks. It would be good practice for the future, when they would hopefully divide and conquer, being able to tend to more patients at once.

Vinepaw padded over listening to Crowtooths order he sat near the edge of the cluster of cats not wanting to get in the way besides he wasn’t injured just a bit wheezy. Who would have thought a cat meant to dig a trench would have gotten smoke in his lungs oh well. He silently watched his friend work while taking small breaths. When it seemed to be his turn he padded over “I inhaled a bit of smoke anything you can do to help my breathing?”

Finally. She was so close to being done she could taste it. Her own paws ached from the constant back and forth, from the awkward grasp on the stone she used to grind down herbs to a poultice. Her shoulders had been tense the entire time as well, the amount of patients not one she wished on any medic. No matter how experienced one was, it was stressful to see so many injured and in need of help. She was grateful for Rabbitpaw's presence. He had been good help in what aid he could offer, which had been an enormous boost to their productivity and to ensure their clanmates suffered as little as possible while they waited. She supposed a silver lining to be found here was that with today's practice alone he would be proficient at making poultices before he had even earned his full name. And with how well he had worked here today, she had every confidence that he would be on his way there sooner rather than later!
The sight of the very paw's friend reaching over to her as he realized she was done with her previous patients - the stubborn furies, the lot of them - coaxed a smirk from her. She perked her ears, listening to him as he spoke. His gait had been perfect, no signs of pain anywhere. From what she could tell, it was his breathing that had been compromised. Unlike most of the other cats, however, his smoke damage seemed to have gone into his lungs. The sound of them was not enough to make her think the damage would be permanent, but then... one never knew, so she quickly looked for a berry to help his breathing.
"Here you go, love. A juniper berry. Should help you out with that breathing problem you're having. Ears, do we still have any honey water left? It's not necessary, but in the worst case scenario it would be just a tasty treat to wash down the berry with," Lightningstorm mewed, offering a berry to Vinepaw before turning to Rabbitpaw with a curious glance, knowing he would want to make his friend as comfortable and possible and... well... there were no more patients here. Why not use up their remaining honey water for the poor tom, especially after having to get up close to fire of all things. It didn't matter how much warning they'd had, it must have been a scary sight to take in. A treat was only appropriate here.
Re: Smothered in its Cradle [WindClan Event Mass Healing Thread]
Ah, so it was her turn to get fussed over now. Not that Lightningstorm was big into fussing, unless it was a kit or something. Deadmoon wasn't terribly injured anyway, just a bit banged up. There were certainly other cats in more trouble, so she didn't particularly mind waiting. Also, it wasn't too great a loss if she did sustain a bit of damage. She couldn't run anyway, so a bit of lung damage wasn't the worst thing in the world. Crowtooth was also wandering around hacking up some dust occasionally, and he was doing just fine! But it seemed Lightningstorm had herbs and whatnot to get her sorted out, and Deadmoon was happy to offer her poor little paw when requested.
Yeah, I reckon I came out alright. Might have stepped on an ember or two, got a bit scorched and whatnot, but nothing compared to what happened to some other cats. The warning about her eyes was appreciated, and Deadmoon blinked a few times in anticipation. So what if she was a little scared! She wasn't excited about getting some spicy? stingy? juice dripped in her poor little peepers. I'll do my best to keep my eyes open, but I might do a bit of blinking, fair warning. she mewed, tail lashing slightly. Slap the herbs on me, and then you can go get some sleep I'm sure you need. And then Deadmoon could get to her own nest as well, and have a nice, restful nap. @Alchemist Kitsune @Dolomedes
