Sprucekit nodded slowly, her own attention briefly going to the slumbering kit. Not playing with other kits didn't seem all that strange to her, usually flip flopping between content to watch and too scared to ask others to play.

"Maybe they're too playful for her?" The young tortoiseshell suggested, not wanting to say Riverkit's siblings were rough. "Or, um... I don't know." Her voice trails off.

A Queen, asking a kit like her for advice? This was the best and worst moment of her so far short life. Best because someone was relying on her. Oh but what if she said the wrong thing? And medicine cats? Was Riverkit secretly dying? Oh no.

"It shouldn't hurt to try?" Sprucekit squeaked. Her tail swished, betraying some of her anxiety. "Everyone says Medicine Cats are super smart and helpful."

Splashcloud comes into the nursery with her five new kits, Hailkit, Frostkit, Ripplekit, Palekit, and Flutterkit. She sets them down in her nest, and curled around them.

Splashcloud nuzzled her crying kit to her belly, encouraging her to nurse.

"I just wanted everyone to be happy..."

Streamkit started purring again- he had been so worried she would be annoyed or that she would dislike the nickname. His bobbed tail flicked happily as she said she liked it. He didn't see any concealed emotions on her face, but he didn't even think he needed to check. He trusted Whisp, and the thought hit him like a wave. He smiled. Her voice had been happy- and that had been all he wanted, really. To see her- and, frankly, every other cat in RiverClan, happy. Always. Even if it took him moons and moons to get a genuine smile on their face.

"Glad you like it. I guess I've been calling you that in my head without realizing and it slipped out."

He ate his final bite of fish, making sure not to eat too much so she could have the final bite. The fish tasted better than any fish he'd ever had- though he had to admit that was partially because of the happiness of sharing it with Whisp. She was his first friend, and he really valued her. He wanted to make it known to her, but was worried that would make it awkward or that he would word it wrong, so he kept his thoughts to himself.

There were plenty of places within camp to be wary of - but none made him feel more apprehensive than the nursery. Mostly because it was arguably one of the single most important spot in all of the clan. It held there present and their future; and kits were so very, very tiny. Fragile. Their mothers, the queens? Not nearly so unless you counted possible tempers.

So far he had done just about anything to avoid tasks that would bring him in there. Sure, he'd chase the occasional stowaway back - but he'd keep his distance. He didn't want to step on any Queen's tail, literally or metaphorically. It was easy enough, before that day; trading the biggest piece of prey for any fetching or grabbing that needed to be done.

Unfortunately, there had been no Apprentice in sight when someone had finally thrown a fish at his paws and told him to bring it to....the nursery.

Oh, he hoped they were in a good mood. No cranky nights or collicky coughs. Just in and out, rather quickly, before someone could box his ears as if he was right back in there with moss tangled in his fur like so many moons ago.

"Awoo?" It was hard to make his presence known, jaws wrapped around food as they were; eyes going wide as they adjusted to the relative shade of the den compared to their open-air clearing.
