Mushroomfur's eyes glinted with amusement. he picked up the mossball once more, hobbling over to Frostkit. He dropped it beside them. "Now Frostkit," he said. "Do you want to hear a story?" he asked. He had a long tale to tell Frostkit about how he had come to be in the Clan and how he had lost his leg.

Frostkit didn't speak, but they vigorously nodded, their tail held straight and high in interest. They wondered what the story would be about, but did it matter? All elders' stories were great and exciting!

Mushroomfur smirked at the kits vigorous nodding. "Well, seasons ago, I was made a warrior. The ceremony was grand, you will one day experience the feeling of being made a warrior under StarClan". He thought intently on how to tell this next part to the young kit. "Well, 16 moons later, I was on patrol with my daughter, Pineblossom". He flicked his tail towards the brown and white tabby she-cat. She peered over in their direction, with an amused gleam in her green eyes. Mushroomfur brought his attention back to the kit. "Well, we were patrolling and suddenly, a big bad badger lumbered upon us. Now badgers are bad news, they can seriously hurt a full grown cat. Luckily, Pineblossom and I are both fast and skinny cats. We were able to dodge the badgers swipes. Well, all except for one". He paused as he looked back where his left hind leg should be. "The badger swiped at me and caught my leg. Nothing too serious we thought, and we chased it away from our territory. Well, days passed after we chased it off and my leg became painful and stiff. I went to see the medicine cat about it, and we found out that my entire hind leg was infected. I had to get it taken off. Thats why i have this stub where my leg should be. And why im in the elders den at such a young age". he finished the story. He turned to the side to show Frostkit the stub where his leg should've been. He spoke warmly to the kit. "Things like that don't happen often. You shouldn't worry about it. Thats why you must stay in camp unless you are an apprentice or warrior". He laid down on his front paws and searched the kits eyes, looking for its reaction.

Frostkit stared with wide eyes, hard to tell if they were shocked or in awe. They took a step closer to Mushroomfur and sniffed the stump a bit, before speaking for the first time in this interaction. "Does it hurt?" An obvious question was it, but they said it with such a warm, timid tone that it was evident they were concerned. This kit won't be a great warrior, they'll be a good one.

Mushroomfur felt that young kits whiskers brushing the stump. "It did for a while, but its been nearly 12 moons since. Sometimes it feels like my leg hurts even though it isn't there" he meowed with a bit of a joking tone. "Despite my movement to the elders den, I can still hunt relatively well and intruders won't expect it when I fight them with the strength of 3 warriors" he joked. He was only about 5.5 years old, an older warrior but by no means an elder. He stood up and got into a hunting crouch, balancing his weight between his limbs. He stalked across the clearing and back silently. "They just don't want me on patrols like this because it makes me an easier target".

Their eyes lit up a bit, they really wanted to learn how to fight like a big powerful warrior.

Their eyes lit up a bit, they really wanted to learn how to fight like a big powerful warrior.

The kits excitement was entertaining to Mushroomfur. "Of course I can" he meowed. Mushroomfur crouched into a defensive position. "I have learned that for me, playing dead works very well. Since I am already seen as weak, I play dead, then when they are least expecting it, I kick at their stomach with all the force in my back paw. Since all my force is focused in one point, it knocks the wind right outta your opponent". He demonstrated, falling limp on the ground, then after a few seconds, rolling onto his back and kicking his leg straight up. Me and Pineblossom have mastered partner fighting as well, where you stay back to back with a fellow warrior and protect each other from behind.

Frostkit rolled on their back, wanting to mimic it. A pathetic little kick at the air and a silly giggle later, the tortie was trying it again.
"Thistles and thorns!" They exclaimed humorously. "You surely can beat up a Dark Forest cat!"

Mushroomfur purred. "They won't know what's coming for them" he mewed. The kit, although still young and clumsy, showed promise. "How much longer until you become an apprentice?" he asked.

Fawnshadow's tail-tip twitched as she thought for a moment. The weather was getting better. Maybe the two warriors would do well with going out. She sort of nodded to herself before answering, blue eyes gleaming.

``Hunting?`` She mewed simply. The calico feline thought again, searching Thunderclan's territory in her mind for where they could go. Maybe Cattail? Hmm.

Fawnshadow then looked back at Jayheart, smiling warmly as she waited for a response.
