The problem though was that the walls and roof were so thick, it made the inner side of the den very dark and hard to see, which was never really a good thing when tiny kits squirmed around everywhere. She shuddered as she felt some of the fir perked from her spine, but shrugged it off. She was getting warm in there anyways, and the chill of the cool air was refreshing. She inhaled deeply, letting the fresh, snow moist air fill her lungs. It was peaceful in the Clans once again, and she had no need to fear for her life, for her kits lives, or for the lives of the ones she held dear.
Sunbreeze cast one last glance into the nursery, making sure no cat was in need of her. She loved her kits and felt a fierce pride for them. She had lost two already, she couldn't loose the rest. Her first was lost due to her former mate's apprentice killing the young Mottlekit in anger and fury. That death had been hard to overcome, as she was one of her daughters. The second kit she had lost had been her son, born in her first and only litter. Graypaw had stayed with his father, Littlefang in Shadowclan. That too was hard, as she had wanted all her kits with her, but she had had to compromise with Littlefang. So when she received the vision from Graypaw soon after the Liberation battle, she was shocked back into grief to find one of her sons had been killed in the battle. She was getting better though, no matter how hard her depression and grief clawed at her heart, she tried her best to be strong and endure through the hardships.
She wrenched herself from her thoughts, and returned her focus back onto the reason she was out here. It had been last night when she had stopped to get something to eat. Sure the prey was low, but because she was a queen, she got some of the first dibs on prey. She knew she had to stay strong for her kits, it wasn't an option not to. She aimed her paws for the fresh kill pile, but her gaze landed on a mother site. Colby! she thought happily. It had been since before the liberation when she had talked to him last. Thoughts of food set aside, her guided her paws over to the Ebony tom cat. "Colby!" She called happily. She tail wade excitedly behind her and her already thickened winter pelt ruffled in her ecstasy. "Oh my gosh, it's been a while. How are you?" She asked, her vibrant blue hues searching his facial expression, his frame everything, soaking up the very experience that she was having with the first cat to make spher feel welcome after her breakup. Colby meant a lot to her, and she certainly knew that. He made her feel welcomed, and content, when she felt lost and betrayed. He had given her something to aim for in each day when she thought everything was lost.

(so sorry for the late reply! :c)
Despite his sapphire orbs gazing around the clearing in search for the white and orange molly, he heard her voice before seeing her. The onyx tom turned around and smiled when he saw Sunbreeze making her way towards him. His orbs light up when he saw her padding towards him, waving her tail in a happy and friendly manner. He was pleased to see that she seemed happy to have found him in the clearing. For a moment, the tom wasn't sure what to say at first as he sorted through his thoughts about possible topics.
He was glad to see that she seemed alright. There was a lot he had wanted to say to her. Colby knew how much Sunbreeze had hated Bucknight, so he was sure that she was pleased with his fall, though Colby was left suspicious of Russetstar as well, and wasn't sure how his friend - and crush - felt about the subject. He wondered if she would trust him easily. He was sure that the majority of the clan was just relieved that Bucknight was no longer leader, not caring too much who ended up with the title as long as they weren't like the tabby.
Plus, he wanted to ask her about her kits. Ask her if they had all been alright after the battle. Colby had tried to be there for his friend after she returned after the floods, separated from her Shadowclan mate and some of her kits had stayed with their father in the neighboring clan. So he hoped that her kits were fine too. The ebony cat realized that he hadn't shown too much interest in the kits despite Sunbreeze being one of his closest friends. He hoped that none had been hurt in the battle, nor any were sick. It was leaf-bare, and sickness was quite common around this time.
"Sunbreeze!" He called in return to her after she had called out his name and had reached him, waving his black time in response to her friendly wave. He smiled when she was first to start a question, asking how her friend was doing. He instinctively gave a glance around the clearing. He didn't like others listening to him, even though it wasn't a secret conversation and therefore didn't matter whether someone heard or not. "I'm doing good," he began. "How about you? I mean, how are your kits? How's Smokekit? Is she doing well, settling into the clan alright?" It felt strange for the tom to be asking about kits, but he did really care for Sunbreeze and found it strange how little interest he had shown in her kits, even the adopted ones... though Willowpaw kind of unnerved him. She had never acted like a kit, and seemed so mature for a young molly.
He flicked his tail for a moment, unsure if he was asking too much about the kits. Colby felt a bit embarrassed in case he was asking too much about her kits, especially Smokekit, her newest adoption. "And how do you feel about Russetstar?" He cocked his head as he asked this. "He doesn't seem bad, you know? But still... he wasn't deputy, and now is leader after our previous one was killed - which is how Bucknight took control, right?" The tom wasn't trying to worry the queen, but rather just know how she viewed it. If she wasn't worried then he would possibly calm down a bit, but if she was then he would keep an out eye on their newest leader.

Sunbreeze felt almost instantly relieved as she entered the presence of Colby. It wasn't that she depended on him for everything, but that she knew it was easier to go through life with some one by your side. Going through situations was tough when you were alone, with no one to lean on. She knew that from experience. Once Twigstreak killed Mottlekit and Littlefang blamed her, she had felt utterly lost, alone and defeated. It wasn't until she got back that Cokby had been the first to help out. She smiled great fully at the dark colored tom. She knew that he cared for her, though she wasn't certain whether it was for her in a friendly way, or something more. The thought of him liking her as something more made her queasy. Obviously her last relationship hadn't gone as planned and she had ended up a single queen with no father to help. The thought of taking a new mate was a bit scary to her, but she had to warm up to it sometime, unless she wanted to not have love again for the rest of her life.
Sunbreeze pulled away from her thoughts and focused back on the conversation. She could help her tail flocking behind her in happiness. It was true, they hadn't had time to talk in quite a while. "Well, I'm glad to hear you've done well. Obviously not too much harm done in the Liberation. As for me I'm doing fine. Really, I'm not making anything up for you. I'm, happy. For the first time in a while, I feel content and at peace, and it's such a relief." She sighed happily. It was true. The depression and lasting grief that had swamped her for the past moons seemed to be lessening. Not that she was forgetting her lost kin, but that she was learning to cope. "They kits, Smoke, Willow Phienix, they're all doing great. Smokekit has adapted fairly quickly, after getting over the initial shock that she would never seen her mother again, but she calmed down rather quickly." She said, her tongue rambling on. She couldn't contain how leased she was. The moons in the nursery had not been too much more than helping out other queens and dealing with newborns and rambunctious kittens. It was a relief for her to be able to speak to a warrior who wasn't consumed in thinking about kits. "Oh Russetstar?" She asked, her voice lowering so that if any cat was eavesdropping, they couldn't hear the words anymore. "Russetstar seems like a nice cat. I know Bucknight did too, but the main difference is that he took the suffix -star. Bucknight did that to show his rejection of Starclan." She said, her voice steady and somewhat serious. "And I can see your point, how there was no deputy, but really, did you really want Bucknight's deputy to control the clan? Geckoleaf said that Starclan sent her a message about him. The least we could do is try to acceot him right? I see your concerns and I will admit, I can't fully trust any role of leadership right now, but it will take time. Trust and loyalty doesn't happen instantaneously, it had to be earned, especially after a time like this."

Scanning the camp for any sign of unrest, he let out a sigh of relief as he saw that nobody had been injured, though it was still unsettling as he saw that it was a close friend of his. Scrambling to his paws, Russetstar briskly approached Crowfoot with a look of worry- he'd heard that Birchstep had fallen sick a few days ago, but he sounded like something more... grave had happened.
"Crow- are you alright?" The tom murmured quietly as he approached his friend, pressing his tail against the warrior's flank comfortingly. Seeing the cat's expression up-close now, it was even more heartbreaking than he thought it was. ...Did something happen to the kits, too? It had been awhile until he'd had a mate himself, but he'd felt the same thing that Crowfoot felt when his ex-mate disappeared into the night- Shellfeather. "...Is Birchstep alright?" He could tell that something had happened to her- she'd been sick, and his friend's scream wasn't something he would screech out of the blue without any meaning.
|
Tears welling in the jade pools of his eyes, Crowfoot looked up at his close friend. Usually, the sight of the optimistic tom could banish any trace of a bad mood, but today, the leader's cheeriness only seemed to make matters worse. How could any cat be happy when the cat who made him happiest was gone? How could the sun shine as brightly as ever when the brightest ray he'd ever known no longer shone? Blinking tears away, the tom formed a broken sentence, each word punctuated by a sob. "Late last night, she spoke our kittens' names, and like a flame that flickers out too soon.. she died, she's gone," the tom choked out.
Was it his fault that everyone he loved was gone? His kits were alive, but that was all. His father, his younger siblings, his mate- all had died. The cat he'd first loved was alive, but the cat she had once been was gone. But Birchstep- she had been different. She was loyal, and kind, and funny, and the cat he'd lived for. His day and his night. The anger was a river inside of him, freezing and burning his body at the same time. Invisible wounds snaked along the inside of his flanks- grief that would never fully heal.

(Argghh I'm so sorry this is so short ;.; )
Falconwing smiled and stood up, his large ears making his face look extremely small. "Well, where would you like to go?" he asked simply, his tail twitching in anticipation.

The thought of mud on fur was something most cats would shiver at, but Silverheart liked the idea. Anything from keeping creepy toms from falling in love at first sight. She was sure her sister was dealing with the same problem at this very moment.
"Oh yes, I'm in.. Could do with stretching out my legs and catching something.. I feel like pouncing on some poor creature and breaking it's neck" She said, grinning lightly. It might have sounded cruel, but it was after all a cat's way of surviving. She didn't exactly like swimming, but she did not dislike it enough to not do it whenever she needed to. And indeed, a swim in the river sounded nice for her at the moment. Even though it might be freezing cold due to the snow, but well, even though her fur was semi-short ish, she was happy to be able to say that she wasn't exactly one of those cats who shivered by a wind blow.
"Let's go! I bet I can catch more than you!" She said challenging, before starting to rush towards the exit of the camp.

Stormsoul let out a deep chuckle. "Well let's get going," he said mid-chuckle. He started padding toward the entrance of the camp, flicking his tail in slight impatience. He loved to hang around her, even though Argentate threatened to appear and take over whenever he wished. The tom thought back to the few times his other personality took control. Had Silverheart ever been around when that happened before? He didn't really know, or at least, the white-and-black tom couldn't remember.

Maybe I should go hunting, she suggested to herself. But she quickly shook away the thought. Contributing to the clan would be fun, not to forget helpful, but she had already gone hunting in the morning and it had taken her forever to find only just one small morsel. Not to mention, she went hunting alone. Cloudrain did find hunting fun, but not she just wanted to do something with someone. She quickly settled on the decision of talking to someone. She looked around, desperately wanting to find someone who she could talk to. Finally, a familiar black pelt came into view. "Blackgaze!", Cloudrain squealed gleefully, quickly bounding over to the she-cat, not at all noticing how much she sounded like a kit. Cloudrain may be a warrior, but she often acted like a kit.
|
The blind molly's head whipped around at hearing her name, her ears swiveling to locate were the sound was coming from. Blackgaze slightly found the source of the voice, her jaws slightly parted to take in Cloudrain's scent. "Oh. Hey there, Cloudrain." The inky-furred deputy greeted with a chill cat-like grin. The female hummed softly for a moment as she turned her body to face Cloudrain, hoping she had the right direction. Though, from the close scent, she was facing Cloudrain's general direction. Her blind, milky, green eyes shimmered with different emotions at the moment. The most noticeable was soft happiness that she was talking to one of her best friends while the other that rivaled this sight was the added anxiety and stress onto her from being the new deputy of RiverClan. Though, it seemed as the black warrior was doing fine.

A black she-cat with a few white markings lay in her nest in a den. The apprentices den. She was curled up neatly into a little ball. Her tail wrapped around her. She snored quietly until her eyes popped open suddenly. She flicked her ears as she heard noise in the clearing. She had slept in. The female didn't have a mentor yet, but granted, she was only 6 moons, just beginning training. She got up and stretched before sleepily dragging herself outside. She yawned and stretched once more as she sat at the entrance of the apprentice's den. Whitepaw began to groom herself as she let her eyes wander the clearing in search for a poor soul to speak with. She was curious of other cats, but she also tended to block herself off due to her untrusting nature. She sighed as she looked up.
The she-cats eyes scanned the clearing. She perked her ears as well to see if she could get some insite on some private conversations. Whitepaw had to admit, she was kind of nosy, but she didn't want to use it as gossip, oh no, she just wanted to know everything. The she-cat felt power if she knew things others did not. It didn't make her "evil" per say, but it made her where others didn't understand her, which disappointed the apprentice sometimes. However, Whitepaw learned to deal with rejection and not being wanted by others. She didn't have any true friends in the nursery. She knew what they did behind her back. They spoke foul things about her, and when they saw her if she didn't catch them first, they would all run and hide. She in the beginning, was hurt by the other kit's actions, but Whitepaw learned to cope with it. In fact, her own mother feared her a little bit. Not actual fear, but her mother feared what would become of Whitepaw. Whitepaw seemed to yearn for more power over the other kits. She would force them to play with her, and when they played "clan", she would always be the leader. It was sort of like a desease. However, she could feel other emotions. She had pity and sympathy, but only to those she understood and deserved her feelings. She only gave respect to those who had done an action that deserved respect. Not to mention he trust issues. Due to other kits and cats talking behind her back, she didn't really trust anyone. Whitepaw liked kits, don't her wrong, but she didn't like the ones she grew up with. The she-cat had always wanted kits. However, she never believed a tom could love her. She never beleived a tom could show her the light and love that no other cat had bother to show her. She sighed as she thought of her past and of the so distant future. She then looked up with her hazel hues to look for a cat to speak with. She really didn't want to talk, but as a clan cat, she had to. Sometimes she thought of leaving the clans in the future once she learned some warrior tactics, but she was unsure.

A young, well-built tom sat straight as could be near the entrance of the camp, staring out into the territory with a steady gaze that seemed too old and wise for someone his age. Not much was on his mind, aside from the fact that he hadn't seen his mentor in a while. He wasn't sure whether he should leave the camp once more, as he had been up and around the territory in the early hours of the morning, taking a walk to clear his head. Stormpaw decided that he would give himself a deserved break, allotting time to relax and socialize. He had never been a popular tom in his kithood, but he had gathered a couple close friendships that carried onward into apprenticeship. Despite not being friendly with every single kit, he had made acquaintances with many of them, and he felt confident in his abilities to give the name of each one of them. A gentle breeze pushing his fur back and releasing a shiver that cascaded through his body, Storm stood up abruptly, tail flicking in the air as he spun around on his heel and observed the clearing. There were a few cats milling about, some cats tucking into fresh-kill, and others just as alone as he was. It made sense, he supposed. Most of the cats should be out on patrols, seeing as it was almost sunhigh.
Stormpaw's eyes locked onto the pelt of a mainly black she-cat. That was... Whitepaw, yes? He had seen her around and uttered one or two words to her, but they had never had an actual conversation. He was four moons older than her, so he had never played many games with her, but in his early apprenticeship he had seen her play a little rough with the other kits. It intrigued him, to say the least. To harm his clanmates was something he never wished to do, no matter the circumstances, but for her, she seemed not to care all that much about consequences. It was peculiar behavior, something he had never experienced before. Raising his chin in confidence, he strode over to the she-cat and paused about a tail-length away, squinting at her with light green orbs. "You're Whitepaw, correct?" Never pausing for a moment to see if he was right in his suspicions, he continued. "Hello there. I don't believe I've ever formally introduced myself; I'm Stormpaw. It is a pleasure to meet you." Formality was something he always preferred, having never liked the feel of slang on his tongue. Storm hesitated, waiting for her response before saying something else. "Has Russetstar assigned you a mentor yet? If not, I could show you the territory. I was planning on leaving camp anyway. It would be nice if you were to accompany me," meowed the grey tabby tom. Maybe he was going too fast into this, but he had not spotted any close friends in the clearing, so the next best thing for him was to make a new one. He had always been rather blunt for his age. Since being born, he had kept that trait close to his heart. Telling someone the truth is always better than lying to protect their fragile feelings, he thought.

So I'm on mobile so sorry for short posts
Whitepaw turned her gaze as she saw an older apprentice pad towards her. She tilted her head. What did he want with her ,she thought. However, she kept a blank stare as he came near her. She perked her ears forward at his remarks and questions. He was going a bit to fast in his speaking. She kept taking breathes about to talk, but he would always begin again. She knitted her eyebrows in a confused expression at his last question. She took a breath, "number one, yes I am whitepaw, number two, no I don't have a mentor yet, number three, why me? I pretty sure I would be the last cat you would pick.therefore, are you having pity for me? If so, then I don't want it," she stated. She then leaned forward and sniffed his pelt to be able to identify him. The female leaned back and wrinkled her nose, "you smell like dirt... well mud," she stated with no emotion in her tone. Whitepaw liked to speak her mind no matter if it hurt another cats feelings or not.

Ashenfeather swiped her tongue over her jaws and took a large bite from the fish. "Thank you, StarClan for this prey," prayed the she-cat and looked at her mate. "I'm so thankful to be in RiverClan, even if I'm a wet-paw. I don't think I could eat the other prey that the Clans eat," stated Ashenfeather and wrinkled her nose. "Especially rats and frogs, like ShadowClan."
