Blackjaw watched from a distance. He had chosen not to participate, as he was still mentally a wreck between his feelings for Mosstangle and questioning his own worth in the Clan. Sure this challenge could've done something to prove himself, but he had arrived too late in the first place. However, he did see a familiar dark brown tabby pelt and that emerald green gaze. The tom padded over to her before the fighting would start. The tom flicked her shoulder with his tail. "Hey, you," he purred, his warm gaze meeting her determined one. "I'm sorry for not joining in with you, but you'll do great," he mewed, touching his muzzle to the she-cats head.
Blackjaw's ears perked. Maybe he was participating after all. With Mosstangle as his partner. The tom was happy with that. He knew that they were both formidable fighters, as seen when they fought each other for practice. Plus, it was her, the cat he was probably the closest with in the entire clan.
Facing Rookfire and Sleepysunrise though, he knew would be a challenge. An enforcer, and a warrior turned medicine cat. StarClan knows how this could go down. If there was any time to prove himself, it would be now.
The tom padded to Mosstangle, flicking her shoulder as a loving gesture before they had to get serious. "Alright, how are we gonna do this," he mewed. They were both large, bulky cats. "Are you thinking offensive, or defensive?," he asked.
MOSSTANGLE
Shadowclan Warrior | 19 moons | Large, dark brown-and-white tabby she-cat with green eyes
~~~
Mosstangle's ear twitched at the insult and... joke? Sleepysunrise was an interesting cat. Mosstangle really hadn't had any issues, so rarely encountered the young medicine cat. However, as Blackjaw approached and flicked her shoulder with his tail. He had thought he was too late, but before the tabby could reply, the announcement was made. She purred and stepped a little bit away from Sleepysunrise and Rookfire to work with Blackjaw and make a plan before they started.
The she-cat purred once she felt far enough away from their opponents. "I think you already know how I like to fight,' She said, remembering back to her spar with the white tom. It was good that they already had some experience with each other. "But we need to gauge them, first. See how they work together and take advantage of any openings while we can. Rookfire is a good fighter, but I don't know about Sleepysunrise. I imagine she is going to be a force to reckon with all on her own."
"I'll take primary offense, and you'll take primary defense, but I think we should switch as needed and work to stay together and cover each others' backs." Mosstangle nodded as she looked over at Rookfire and Sleepysunrise. Then, she realized that she hadn't really considered what Blackjaw wanted. A pang of guilt touched her chest and she looked back to him. "Does that work for you? Or do you want to try a different approach?" She asked, tail twitching as she realized how bossy she must have sounded.
Blackjaw nodded as he listened to Mosstangle's ideas. He agreed with how she wanted to approach it, due to their somewhat similar but also very different fighting styles. Blackjaw's large bulk and physical resistance were very useful for a defensive position, whereas Mosstangle had to edge of agility with her size.
Mosstangle's abrupt cut off and question caught him off guard at first. "No, I think your plan is great," he purred. "Out of both of them, I've only seen Rookfire fight, and I have no clue how Sleepysunrise is in battle. She's small, which could be both an advantage and a disadvantage. So I suppose we will have to guage it as we go along," the tom mewed.
Before Hawkbite could answer Flytail, Tuftedtusk moved on to assigning them partners. Easy enough, he supposed. He didn't have to come up with a reason to ignore him or deny the option.
The Commander flicked his tail towards Flytail, his gaze shifting to meet the eyes of their opponents. "I fight with speed and strategy. Stealth is my specialty, but quick movements will get us by in this setting," Hawkbite spoke, keeping his voice rather low so only his partner could hear.
"Play defense if they attack first, I'll try to pin one of them down if they give an opening."
roachflare nodded, managing a small smile in response to briarsplashs own. hard and fast.. "maybe with y-your size"
bug shuffled mismatched paws, he hadnt really gotten much real life battle opportunities but nodded along the enforcers strategy. she was a bit..intense. but wasnt everyone intense in one way or another? mudslides silence could be intense as well. not to them but..to other cats for sure. "more sneaky-..yes" they nodded, shifting where they sat again. "y-you could take their attention and i'll get them from..behind" the small tom offered, voice high pitched at the end of his sentence as if asking a question rather than making a suggestion.
rookfire nodded, sleepy was small, he could tank more than she could. but neither mosstangle nor that blackjaw guy looked like hard hitters. he turned to look at the two, yawn slitting his maw in half briefly before rows of sharp teeth quietly clinked together again. "dunno if this'll be much of a challenge" he commented, eyes briefly flicking to sleepysunrise before returning to their opponents. blackjaw and mosstangle were both young. where was the challenge in that? if he could beat a senior warrior twice his age that had managed to be promoted to enforcer he could probably take both of them at once. ah disappointing..
quite honestly more interested in the other groups, rookfire eyed hawkbites group. it felt like a bit of a set up for magpiecove, being by far the youngest and most inexperienced of the four. briarsplash had been assigned mudslides little friend and were fighting...stars he didnt even remember. nor did he care.
given rooks roleplayer does not remember the last, now deleted post, and the event has sort of died a bit im taking the liberty to yell at tufted now. growing bored, rookfire craned his neck, seeking out tuftedtusk with his gaze before raising his voice.
"yo tufted are we gonna start anytime soon?"
while there was a grand opportunity to make a stab at him rook was wiser than to test his luck.
Tuftedtusk smiled at Magpiecove. "I believe I made a decent choice picking you, Magpie." He rumbled flicking his tail as he spoke. Turning to Rookfire and his loud yowl, he would nod, ear twitching irritably.
"EVERYONE! BEGIN!" He mewed out, running forward towards Hawkbite - paws thudding on the ground. He would attempt to feign to the right side and headbutt the commander in the flank and push him off his paws.
Quietmouth was excited. And once he saw Tuftedtusk rush forward, he knew the battles had begun. With a playful look in his eyes, Quietmouth then turned to Honeycomb and nodded, confirming that he was ready, then took a defensive stance. He was too big to be good offensively. Rather, his skillset was more focused on wearing out his opponent and overpowering them. So that was exactly what he planned to do.
Ooh. She's the distraction and Roachflare is the sneaky surprise, eh? That sounded sort of fun, and a bit more layered than what she'd originally had in mind. Her eyes glinted in muted excitement, giving bug a gruff grunt of agreement.
"Heh, I like it. Alright, then. Let's get to it, then," she meowed, noting Tuftedtusk's call.
Walking with her partner over to Lionsun and Doeflame, the Enforcer dipped her head curtly in greeting — both a courtesy and a level of respect for battle sparring, though her paw pads were already itching to get to it. Lionsun seemed like a newer, more inexperienced warrior; Roachflare's sneaky method, if gone well, should managed to take him down or distract him in Briarsplash's mind. Doeflame seemed a bit more prepared and ready, and the Enforcer could foresee that she was probably going to want to swing first, openly and outwardly. That is, if she was reading her body language correctly.
"Hey, you two. Looks like you're up against us. You ready?" Briarsplash grinned, though it wasn't a friendly one; one more unnerving, like the mischievous giggle of a troublesome kit, or that of an adrenaline junkie searching out another thrill. A light of excitement in her golden-green eyes and the flex of her strong muscles was hidden under her thick pelt, slipping into a second nature battle stance.
She didn't wait long; giving the warriors a moment of courteous preparation, the she-cat was soon launching herself towards her opponents, kickstarting the battle.
She was headed straight for Doeflame, aiming a hefty paw swipe at the side of the warrior's head, hoping to disorient her.
Flytail’s blue eyes tracked Maggiecove’s movements. He crept forward, each step careful, measured. He timed his approach to the slight shift in her weight—then moved. He darted in fast, feinting left before spinning low and sweeping his hind leg toward hers. At the same time, he twisted, aiming to press his shoulder into her side and throw her off balance. He didn’t stay to check. Flytail dropped back a step, already repositioning as she twisted around. Dust kicked up between them. He couldn’t tell if the sweep connected cleanly or if she’d caught her footing in time.
(don't mind her changing age! I forgot to update it hehe)
Awh, no fair! She wanted to strike first! No matter, it seemed like Flytail was actually putting up a fight, which would only make him all the more satisfying to beat. Since Magpiecove was all for being flashy, a counter attack was what she wanted to do as opposed to a dodge.
Blinking back dust, Magpiecove tested her odds.
[magpiecove rolled a 3! fumble...]
Stars above, she ate the dirt before she could think. Snarling with surprise, the chimera fell in a harsh heap. Fur bristled, she spun around and aimed a swift fore-paw for Flytail's throat whilst she reared up, ready to jump over the tom if need be. She was aware he was miles taller than she was, but that didn't matter to her.
If she managed to get on his back, she'd roll right off him and pull him back by his scruff via her maw whilst also giving a sharp bunny kick to his back. Her legs tensed as she moved, confident in her movements. But, whether or not her advancements made contact wasn't up to her... Ugh, hopefully the universe would be helpful here.
Lionsun thought quickly and attacked Briarsplash from the side before she could get to Doeflame @squidz @kittycatburmise @alec
