Grottopaw materialized behind Squirrelrise, blinking owlishly at her as he pressed his paws into the grass. "I want to learn how to use the shadows to my advantage. Teach me."

Spider’Thorn didn’t even have time to turn his head before something cold and wet smacked him right across the shoulder. He blinked. Slowly. Then looked down. Yep. That was definitely mud.
He paused for a second, dead silent, then glanced up at her with the most unimpressed face he could muster—though the corner of his mouth was twitching like he was trying not to laugh.
“Ohhh, real mature,” he said flatly, flicking his tail as he shook off a chunk of the mud. “Can’t believe I came all the way out here just to get attacked by a swamp rat.” He took a step closer to her. “You know this means war, right?” Without waiting, he dipped a paw into the wet earth beside him and gave her a look—one of those quiet, playful ones that said you better run.
“Last chance to back down, Mags.”

"I want blood, guts, and angel cake. I'm gonna puke it anyway."
Oh boooo. All talk, no swings. But of course, what was a good mud fight without some trash talking, yeah? Magpiecove grinned wickedly, her eyes nearly closed as her smile stretched abnormally long. Of course Spiderthorn would be here, throwing shade. Points for creative insults, oooo she knew this guy was great! "Ah, you flatter yourself. You ain't even intimidating!" Magpiecove grinned with fake malice. "Just a no good wannabe, that's what you are, sapphire!" Stars, she should really insult more often, it was fun!
She will admit though, it was kinda sad having to mess up his pelt like this, even if in all good fun. He still had those darn pretty feathers, magpie's. Nicely prooned and spaced out to perfection. She'd have to make up for it somehow, likely nag whatever feathers her teeth could find. She'd hate to ruin his stash.... Wow, she couldn't remember the last time she'd been genuinely considerate. She figured Spiderthorn just did that to her, what an idiot.
"Back down? From what, a sparkly twig?" She cackled, deathly excited. "Say your prayers!" With that, she scooped up a pawful of mud, all her massive paws could carry (on that note, how come she had large paws and a bulky muscular build, and yet she was STILL STUPID SHORT. Short and stocky, her fluff probably didn't help. Magpiecove was large, not exactly tall), and flung it at Spiderthorn's shoulder. Whether or not it landed wasn't important to her, the pressure of her own expectations loosening it's noose for the first time in forever, and she was free. Free to be stupid, free to make mistakes.
Maybe it's because Magpiecove was just awesome like that.

"You're right, maybe you would have lost."
She grinned, clearly teasing him as she looked up at the much taller feline at her side. In truth she was very well aware of what he actually meant, and she agreed, Rookfire was a tank on the battlefield. But there was no harm in poking a little fun at his ego now and again.
She lifted a paw, claws unsheathing, holding them up in front of her. An idle movement, mostly because she was bored and didn't know what to do with her limbs. They were a top a branch together now, and with her no longer dangling from the tree like some monkey, she was stuck at his side and immobile. She should've stayed put higher up, but alas.
Placing her paw back down, Sleepysunrise listened to his little rant after he claimed not having heard a thing about it. Maybe he spent too much time in his own head to have heard; the medic thought these kids were rather vocal about it. She stretched out her leg. "I bet they will."
She spoke, whiskers twitching and head tilting. "But if they do anything stupid, Miss Grandmama will take care of them."
She was certain of that.
"I don't recall anyone being this braggy in our time."
Her cheeks puffed into a little pout; if anything, it was more deserved in their time. Fought a glorious battle, named enforcer the same meeting they gained their warrior names - Sleepysunrise took none of it for granted, took none of it as having been enough. Because it wasn't enough.
Unconsciously her claws gripped into the bark of the tree, she bit the inside of her cheek. She wanted to change the subject. "How do you do?"
She turned her head towards Rookfire and blurted out the oddly proper assortment of words; you'd think she was talking to some high ranking noble dingus, and Sleepysunrise got a weird look on her face after saying it. Huh. Mission "be normal" failed.

'youre right, maybe you would have lost' rookfire snorted, striking out at sleepysunrise playfully, his paw almost comically large next to sleepysunrise. "you know damn well thats not what i meant"
"kids will be kids eh? those stupid enough ta' try to impress hawkbite with something risky will die n i wont grieve them" perhaps that was a bit far, especially considering one of his current favourite apprentices appeared to be going down that path. no.. she was smarter than that.
"i doubt hawkbite would let em get away with that either" he commented. dawnstar wasnt really the focal point when it came to enforcers, though after his own way through getting both of their approval he may have to reevaluate that though process. it looked like the queen of mean was more involved that he had previously suspected, with hawkbite sending him to dawnstar for approval first. though, he wouldnt be surprised if it was simply because hawkbite didnt like him. whyever that was. rook could not recall doing anything worth a good part of the clan hating him but alas, nothing he could do.
'i dont recall anyone being this braggy in our time' true. it had been different, not that this justified their behaviour but the guards had just merged with the enforcers overall and dawnstar had named two fresh warriors enforcers alongside former guards.. there was less competition in a way, or at least rookfire had not noticed it, too busy trying to find his footing in an unfamiliar territory, surrounded by cats that wouldnt trust him to even die 'correctly'.
he hummed, "me neither. though admittedly i wasnt worrying about any apprentices bragging at the time" and neither was he now. things happened for a reason. while it was annoying, he knew theyd be taken care of. thoroughly humbled. eventually. everything came back some day.
sleepysunrises question sort of caught him off guard, they didnt really have a history of talking about such topics. impresonal questions were safer after all. "decent. mostly busy trying to convince everyone all over that i wont lose my mind and kill everyone" he replied with a bitter chuckle.

Bramblepaw quietly ate his lunch, a frog, tail wrapped around his paws. Things had been rather quiet as of late, nothing really going on. Which wasn't bad, but he couldn't help but wonder about his training either. Hillstrider was...interesting. But the more Brams interacted with his new mentor, the more he rather liked the tom.
Breezeheart

Breezeheart yawned as he trotted out of the warriors' den, stepping into the clearing. He shook out his fur and quickly spotted a apprentice eating. He padded over, curiously. "Hello there, I'm Breezeheart. You are?" Although he had probably seen this cat before, it was hard to remember the names of those he hadn't spoken too.
