Her smile earned a snort that was less abrasive than usual. "My pleasure," he drawled. "I do not recall extending an invitation, but your company isn't exactly unwelcome." Better than traversing the territory alone and snarling to himself all the while. "We should try to be productive while we're out, in any case. Two sets of claws are better than one for hunting."

Mothflame let out a huff of amusement, flicking her ear.
"Of course. You can take my word. You didn't strike me as someone unreasonable." She murmured, casting a sideways glance at the grey-furred tom.
"Well, I'm glad my presence isn't unwelcome. I'll gladly leave if it becomes a problem, however." She paused, taking a moment to glance around them.It was warming up, and there was bound to be some prey scuttling around. "You're right. Can't waste time on walks, hm?"

Raccoonpaw followed behind nightwatcher, the dark tom listening carefully as he practically bounced through the forest. This would all be very very important in the future or now. Who knows.
His tail flicked as he heard Nightwatcher ask him to show a hunting crouch. He hadn't really learned anything yet, but he remembered some apprentices showing off before. What could he remember...

Raccoonpaw copied the movement, his tail brushing over the ground before he brought it up. His balance still wasn't awesome, but he didn't feel like he was going to fall any second now.
"Like this?" he asked, looking up at the larger tom with a glint in his eyes. He could make his mentor proud

-ˏˋ he watched raccoonpaw closely, he circled the young tom, nudging him to fix her stance and then nodded when it looked right "yup! now try to stalk forward, one paw at a time, keep your tail up. step lightly and keep your eyes on...my tail" he backed up and sat down, waving his tail a bit. ˊˎ
Brackenclaw watched as Rosepaw got into a hunters crouch and crept up on a leaf before pouncing on it. Unfortunately Rosepaw moved so swiftly she would have given away her position to any prey she was attempting to hunt not only that but she was out in the open. "Your crouch is good but you are moving too fast. Many prey are alerted by movement and if you move too fast you are liable to alert them to your presence. To alleviate this you can crouch lower and enter foliage which will hide you and cover your approach. Once in foliage you can move more freely and get into position easier." Brackenclaw would explain. "And if you need to hide your scent some things you can think of doing is rolling in mud or something. Also to ensure you aren't scented out you can try being downwind of your prey with the wind blowing at you carrying your scent away from the prey." Brackenclaw added.
She flicked her ears, annoyed, but otherwise unresponsive to the hornet's feedback.. what did 'too quick' even mean, both times she's practiced with Tigerpelt and Flintclaw they haven't even mentioned speed and she didn't think she was going too fast. If you move too slow then you have just as likely a chance of your prey fleeing. "That doesn't make sense, if you move too slow then won't your prey run off anyways? How fast am I supposed to move? If I crouch any lower then my fur will drag and that will scare of prey." She could understand scaring things off but Rosepaw had hardly even disturbed the world around her as she showed her crouch.
She gave a shudder at the thought of rolling around in mud, why would anyone do that? Surely the ambient scent of Thunder clan just living here is enough to cover their scents, that and standing down wind from the prey so nothing fresh hits their noses. Rosepaw didn't mean to be so argumentative but she has never seen a hunting patrol return so muddy and she has watched many many patrols come and go. She dreaded the idea of ruining her fur, and her nest, and the cleanliness! Oh that would be just torture. "Is mud necessary? I've never seen a hunting patrol return muddy, at least, it's not the normal."
Rosepaw waited for a response before deciding to actually use her skills, "Let me try and hunt and then you can give me feedback." It was a reasonable means of learning, especially after one has already received their beginner's lectures and there wasn't much else that could be spoken at her before it's the same things over and over again. After receiving some reply from her mentor, the russet tabby started a few tail lengths away before flicking her ears forward and stilling her tail, looking for any sign of prey.

She found something quickly and crouched down to the ground, diving through the undergrowth and remaining mindful of whatever was 'too fast' as directed by her mentor moments earlier. Through a fern that she was crouched behind, Rosepaw's eyes narrowed on their mark, some sort of bird... it had a red tummy and dark feathers.. it wasn't like any birds she's seen recently, but she wanted those feathers. Claws unsheathing, the feline approached to pounce.

The bird did startle, just moments before Rosepaw landed, but it hadn't had the time to take off before the apprentice latched her teeth into its neck and delivered a killing bite. The prey fell limp in her jaws and she stood up, ready to return to her mentor to show off her kill proudly.

through the clan's territory he went, paws tracing over the familiar trails and grasses that he had ventured so many times during his own apprenticeship. having stopped in the clearing to fetch freshkill earlier, the tom now sought prey to replenish it, as would any loyal warrior. for a moment, he thought back to when he was younger, chasing after mice and rabbits with very little talent or skill. now, he drunk in the scents of the forest, keeping his nose high and his paws light as he sought a burrow for him to dig his claws into.
as he went, he also kept himself aware of the scents of his clanmates. perhaps he could call for a warrior to take his side, so that they may bring back a greater reward to their clanmates. with a sudden surge of confidence, crowwhisker pushed forwards, with his tail flagging high behind him. ears twitched, for a moment, at the sound of rustling within the grasses--perhaps this would be the moment. the tom let out a soft purr: a quiet call for any who may be nearby. let them reap the benefits of the forest!
