⤷ oh this was BORING. mumbleflight had done all of his duties for the day. pattered around in the warrior's den, cleaning up, had gone out hunting and found nothing, he'd even refreshed the moss in the elder's den, for stars' sake! and yet he found himself with the whole afternoon stretching in front of him. the world was his.. whatever. so he plopped himself down in the middle of the clearing, eyes scanning for someone to either bother or be bothered by.

tail before he speaks, ignoring the undeniable urge
to pounce for his mission was VERY important.
"Oh. That sucks for you!" He says bluntly, a small
laugh escaping his mouth.
"I. HickoryKit, of thunderclan." He says, returning formal
and putting himself out as serious. "Am on a very serious
job right now!"
He turns, raising a paw and pointing it around the clearing.
"Am patrolling the camp clearing! See! No enemy warrior in camp
all because of my hard work."
Wolfhawk stumbled into the clearing, green eyes filled with remorse. what punishment awaited him for this act of stupidity? he wasn't sure what lied ahead.

Fury could not even begin to describe how he's feeling at this moment in time. He walked behind the pair, following them out to the clearing. They didn't deserve the Stormcrest. They didn't deserve anything but what they're owed. Wolfhawk had the GAL to finally, finally look remourseful.
His blood boiled. He had half a mind to skin them both right this very second. But he didn't. Because he needed them to choke on their ego. He needed them to drown in their arrogance. As they both stopped in the middle of the Clearing, the calico strode past them. If his anger poured out of his body, his pawsteps would be leaving behind nothing but magma and ash.
"THUNDERCLAN. GATHER ROUND." he barked. Tail lashing as he kept pacing forwards. Stopping just beneath the Stormcrest. Standing upon where the patrols are usually sent out. The clearing was already clear, faces would have already turned to see the pair stepping out of the medicine cats den, with him in tow by now. Curiosity should already be blossoming. ThunderClan cats were nothing if not nosy.
"Here before you. Were the two medicine cats who were charged with keeping our Clanmates safe. Making sure the patrol was properly patched up, taken care of." a pause as he let out a snort. Followed swiftly by a low hiss. "INSTEAD. THE FORMER MATE OF DRIZZLECLOUD, AND MY OWN APPRENTICE HAD TO STEP IN DUE TO THEIR INCOMPITENCE." a bark. Fangs fully showing. Spiderthroat had only reached this peak fury once, and it was when Asterdance had been harmed.
"Those who had less deathly wounds were treated first, Clanmates were left out to bleed, INCLUDING myself. If they leave your ranks out, what says they won't leave the Warriors, Queens, Elders, Apprentices, even Kits out to bleed? They did. Ravenfire was left in a corner of the den, bleeding outl Almost succumbing to her wounds. If not for Sparrowpelt stepping in, she would have died. A warrior who fought to protect us. Dragonflycliff, who had her eye taken and leg taken, was only seen after Treetiger had patched me up, and I had ordered for it." a pause as he took a breath. "Mudhound, who had a broken jaw, was asked to chew a herb. By Wolfhawk himself." a pause.
"The commotion you all heard just now, was Violetfreckle yelling at the pair, because Bumblestar had just lost another life. Not due to fighting for her clanmates. Not for keeping us safe. But because the pair of them didn't care for her. THE ENTIRE. TWO WEEKS. Not once was she checked, not once were her bandages changed. Those bandages I took off were from the ones I LAST. Put on there. The only one, who finished a Healing during the entire Otter patrol scare, was Hollowpaw. Which is the only reason why I won't be stripping him of his rank." at this point. He was loosing breath. But he didn't care. He wanted to rip them to shreds, he couldn't do it physically yet, so he'd do it socially. He wanted the clan to uproar. He wanted the clan to get angry. Yell. Scream.
"Wolfhawk. However." a beat, as he slowly turned to look at said tom in question.
"The main medicine cat, one in charge. Will be fully stripped of your rank. As well as your name. You are no longer Wolfhawk, Medicine cat of ThunderClan. You are Wolfpaw, apprentice. Considering you had no warrior training, and seemingly even a higher lack of general competence." a hiss. "You're lucky, I had half a mind to kick you out. No ThunderClanner would be as stupid as you are in this moment." he stepped towards the tom he was addressing.
"You brushed off your clanmates concerns when they brought it up, and now you're choking on all that arrogance you had. I hope it kills you one day." all respect he had for the 'apprentice' was gone. It bloomed when he noticed how the tom was acting when the patrol first got there, after he was assisted, but it solidified even more now.
"Throwing back a half baked response, no apology nor concern in the voice. Lack of self awareness, he had the gall to brush off a few cats, acting as if he knew better. Apparently you know next to nothing, and at this point in time you are worth next to nothing. Messing up is one thing, but this is on an entirely new level. This is lack of care and nothing but neglect. You talk big but you have nothing to show for it." he stepped closer. Up until he was glaring right at Wolfpaw. Staring down the bridge of his nose.
"You weren't motivated to heal and help save your clanmates lives were on the line. So let me show you how great fear is as a motivator when it's yours."
"You are my. Apprentice. I expect nothing but your best paw forwards or you'll be loosing another leg , like Dragonflycliff lost it in the fight. I expect you to do nothing but go forwards with open eyes, or you'll be loosing them just as Dragonflycliff did. If I hear any disobedience come from your maw it'll get broken just as Mudhounds' had. Lastly, if you don't follow any of these rules, if you try to talk back, fight back, refuse to try or you just fail in general. You'll be loosing your life just as Bumblestar did, and I'll leave you to bleed out, just as you made me and Ravenfire do."
With that. Spiderthroat turned to Hollowpaw. This is the most he'd talked in a while. But he wasn't even close to done.
"You may be the apprentice, but you are just as guilty as he is. You sat idly by and didn't speak up. Didn't say anything. Kept your head down. That's just as pathetic. Just as worthless acting. However. Your only saving grace, by whatever God you may believe in, is the fact that you actually healed someone." a pause as he narrowed his eyes.
"That bein said. One mix up, one mistake, one more slip up, and you aren't only getting demoted, I will exile you. You get another chance, but it's comin with a bigger concequence. So slip up. I dare you. I'd love to find one more reason to slink my claws into you, and give you the same scars you let Bumblestar stew with. They were INFECTED. So I would love to have you lay there, helpless, expecting help from your beloved Clanmates, and be ignored." it was a low growl. One that held promise. He was no longer being lenient. He was no longer deciding to fully trust anyone. Shown time and time again that Highranks, most of them, were nothing more than rank sitters who'd done nothing.
He'd killed for less.
At that, he stood there. Posture straight, eyes narrowed. Fury burned in his gaze, but he kept a stone faced expression. He was enraged beyond human comprehention. He wanted to do nothing more than lift a nearby tree and squash them both with it. But public humiliation would do. Shattering what confidence they had would do.
He wasn't done yet. However. He had something else in mind. He just had to figure out how to say it.

Hearing the yelling Lightningpaw got out of the apprentice den with some moss stuck to herself from changing beds. She thought someone was about to die and well after all that yelling still thought that someone was going to. While she had been done dirty by the medicine cats she wasn't sure how she felt about this. Who would take the place if Starclan wasn't helping any of the clans anymore. Well... Hopefully she wouldn't be treated like a big problem while needing healing but she hoped that bedside manners would come to them and eventually got over it. This was all difficult for her to put herself on a side of as she wasn't in the med den, she didn't see what happened and Spiderthroat wasn't her favorite but....
Sunrisepaw was startled from practicing a hunting crouch, leaping somewhat at the sudden increase in noise. What the hell?? Then Spiderthroat came storming out of the medicine den with the medics in tow. Oh. Ah. It was almost as bad as a public execution. The dilute tortie felt her fur bristle and her lips twitch into a snarl. For the love of- were none of these adults trustworthy?! At least Spiderthroat is on top of things...but... What was gonna happen to the patrol? Bumblestar...she had been a huge support to 'Rise and her littermates back when...all that happened. And was super supportive of their name changes. Sunrisepaw respected and admired her. Was she...gonna be okay? And the others?
The dilute feline felt the icy chill of uncertain crawl up through her body from her paws. What would happen now?
Spiderpaw yelped from the apprentice's den when all the commotion in the medicine den happened, poking her head out cautiously. Were they under attack?! StarClan! How much could they endure! But then...Spiderthroat emerged. With the medics. The deputy looked...well he looked like hell. Not in the sense that he looked like he was in bad shape - even though he was - but more...the energy he was giving off was as though he were the embodiment of hell in this moment. At first, she thought Wolfha- Wolfpaw would be executed. That was just...the energy she was feeling. Or maybe her own fear?
Either way, she was stunned. Jaw agape, eyes rounded. How could this happen? She could hardly believe it. How could...medicine cats of all cats allow something like this to happen? She may not have believed it if it was any other cat delivering the news, but she knew Spiderthroat wouldn't trivialize or exaggerate. And he wouldn't lie. But...wow... The dark gray feline could only sit there. Stunned.

Absolute chaos.
Flintclaw felt dazed and disoriented for a moment, his fur bristling and his eyes snapping open at the shouting. Spiderthroat looked murderous in the medicine cat den. As he listened to the shouting of each clanmate in turn within the medicine cat den, his eyes turned towards the back.
Rage clawed up, not even stifled by the pain still raging in his chest. He had thought he was being ignored because of Rosepaw's visits. Her bringing him food and water had freed them up to handle the others. His own daze aside, he should've paid more attention to them. He should've paid more attention to the clanmates that had been on that patrol. It wasn't his job, but he was about to make damn sure that he never took his eyes off of the medicine cats and their patients ever again.
The dark tabby rose from the moss nest in the den and slowly stalked out behind the deputy and medicine cats. There were no tasks left for him back here, not right now... but he would certainly help where he could. First, he needed to know what punishment was waiting for the pair that had failed to do their job. He had never been so naive to think the medicine cat duties were easy, but it was their job! It was everything their lives were supposed to revolve around.
Flintclaw sat just outside the medicine cat den, icy eyes narrowed as he focused on keeping his breathing as deep as he feasibly could. This shouldn't have happened. Not only should it have never happened, but Spiderthroat's punishment felt lenient, at first... though their was a grim satisfaction in Wolfpaw's rank and position being stripped for him to serve as the deputy's apprentice. He listened to everything, a low growl rising in his chest as his claws dug into the dirt. The more the deputy spoke, the better the punishment felt.
To be honest, Flintclaw couldn't really remember that first day in the medicine cat den. It was such a blur, but he did remember Spiderthroat giving orders instead of Wolfpaw, even if the medicine cats may have spoken a few times. There was something so deeply grating about how casually he had taken things. How slow he had moved, even as his apprentice asked him questions. Wolfhawk working on him, when there were more desperately injured clanmates in need of attention.
He remembered when Ravenfire was dragged to a nest beside him after being left to bleed near the entrance. Not by a medicine cat.
Flintclaw's claws dug deeper and deeper into the earth. He couldn't even feel his left paw, but didn't need to look to know. He could feel the tension and ache in his foreleg. The pressure against his paw pads as he dug in further. The same thing repeating in his head, about both the battle patrol itself and the neglect of the medicine cats.
It should've never happened, but they had failed. Again. And again.
