huh...he lifted his head upon hearing his name, he looked to roosterpaw and then felt a rush of...pride maybe? a non-clan born was his apprentice! this was his chance to welcome them and- and- okay don't get ahead of yourself, he raised up to his paws from his sitting position and padded over to the new apprentice "Heyyy-" he cleared his throat "hello, my names darkwater- im- erm- your Mentor!" he smiled brightly as he leaned a bit to touch noses with the small tom. ohhh he was so happy now!

Mountaintalon had been watching from the back of the crowd since the first call from his- well, former leader. The transition wasn't something he had many thoughts on. Necessary, yes, but that was about it. Anyone could see how she'd run herself into the ground. And in any case, he was curious to see the start of Spiderstar's reign.

He observed the next announcements with just that - a simple air of curiosity. New warriors. New apprentices, one his own, he noted. A strong start indeed. New Hornets were expected as well. What he hadn't expected was to hear his own name announced.

His eyes sharpened and his ears shifted forward. An offering of a promotion. Now, more responsibility wasn't something he wanted. He was perfectly content stepping in when the cats above him failed. But maybe...

Just maybe, this would give him an edge.

Mountaintalon pushed himself to his paws and lumbered up to the front of the crowd, idly listening to the finishing announcements. Acceptance. As he lifted his head to look back at his Clan, he found himself searching for golden rosettes and an icy blue stare - one cat in particular who seemed to be lingering around him more than usual lately.

No sooner had Acornfall settled back down from chanting his kits' new names, not at all them as Sparrowkit and Lightkit didn't come forward (he'll have to have a chat with them about that), the surprises kept coming. His remaining golden amber eye stretched wide at Spiderstar's announcement. Not about the new warriors and the new -paw, he knew that was gonna happen. But...did...did he hear that correctly? Did Spiderstar say...he was going to be made a Hornet?! He shot a quick glance at Bri, then his siblings. Jaw agape. Should he...accept? He wanted to, stars he wanted to! He was certain Briarmask would have...words about it...but...

No. The brown tabby shook himself free from doubt. Chest and head lifted, Acornfall stepped forward beside Pineblossom and giving her a nod of recognition. Dipping his head to Spiderstar in respect and gratitude. It still felt...surreal. But he would continue to work hard for his clan regardless. It would sink in...eventually.

Burnedbark chanted the new names and nodded at his assignment. A lot of mentors were being doubled up...but it wasn't like training was anything new to him. He blinked in greeting as Leopardpaw bounded up to him, nodding at her before reaching down to touch noses with her. "I'm Burnedbark." He mewed simply with a flick of his ear. Expression mostly unchanged, though his gaze wasn't unkind or cold. "I look forward to working with you." His words were genuine. Maybe he could even have Dandelionpaw and Leopardpaw spar together? Combat training wasn't something he considered his specialty, but it needed to be done. And having more than one sparring experience could only be helpful...right?

The Calico's whiskers twitched, a second of a smile across his face before he fully clambered down. Good. Perfect. All three accepted. Slowly but surely, he'll build up more hornets. Maybe. Only good ones though , ones that did their job properly.

"RISINGSTORM. You have three fresh pelts to clean 'n update. Have at ye. I'm layin down. I'm almost positive I messed up something during the announcements." he huffed. Who could blame him? He'd only just gotten back from an otter attack...and was still healing. Attempting to , anyways.

Pineblossom walked up to Spiderstar and Risingstorm, beside Acornfall and Mountaintalon. She was ready to learn whatever she must to be great for the Clan.

Dreamykit blinked at Papa as he fussed over her. He didn't usually do that, but she didn't think much of it. The indecipherable chatter of the clearing was at the back of her mind, only a babble of noise that she didn't think of at all, now that she got used to it. She had found her siblings, and now Papa was here---That was good. She felt safe with her family around her, not like how she had when she was trying to find them earlier.

Mama? Mama wasn't here. Where? The last time something like this had happened, where the clearing was very busy and loud, her family and her mother was there. But her mother wasn't. Why not? She searched her dim, fuzzy memory... something was there, but she couldn't pin it down--then she did. Briefly, as she had glanced back, she could see her mother turning to a big cat, bigger than her but not bigger than Papa. Why? Who? That good? Bad? Dreamykit didn't know. But at least everyone else was with her. When this was over, she'd find Mama again. Maybe she'd take a nap. She liked naps.

She was zoned out, her mind fluffy and white like a cloud, void of thoughts, when she heard Kessy's name called by the loud and commanding voice she had heard before. Then Leopard, then Breezy, then her own name, then Flame's name. It took a moment for this new information to process--but when it did, she went back to reality and looked around, bewildered. Then her and her siblings names were called again, but different this time---she couldn't place her paw on it. Wait... Paw. Why me 'paw. Dreams...paw. Not kit? Not kit?
Leopard disappeared, as well as her other siblings. They were going to strange cats bigger than all of them. What was going on? She heard Papa's name called, too. Huh?

Then another large warrior came up to---to her? Blue-and-green eyes gazed up at him as he greeted her and booped her nose. Her fur spiked, startled. Who? Where was Papa? Where was Mama, and her siblings? Why'd this cat come up to her? Everything was... different. Different than usual. A feeling she didn't like crawled all over her fur. She felt like she wanted to crouch into the ground until she was so tiny, tiny, tiny, until nothing could affect her. She didn't know the feeling, so she tried to ignore it, but it still made her uncomfortable.

Dreamypaw stared up at the new cat, eyes wide, silent, not knowing what to do or what was happening.

Breezekit side-eyed Dreamykit. How could she look so out of it during their apprentice ceremony!? This seemed like the most important time to pay attention. The rest of her siblings - the ones who didn't disappear from camp one day that is - were. Maybe she should offer to train with Dreamy some time, make sure her head wasn't in the clouds all the time.


She was so wrapped up in her own thoughts that she almost missed it. The moment where Breezekit was no more and she became Breezepaw. A better name, but one that she hoped to not wear for too long. The rossetted gray she-cat beamed up at Spiderstar. It was a shame she wasn't apprenticed under one of her aunts, but that didn't mean she couldn't ask them for training later.


Before she could go off to find her new mentor, there were two more announcements. The new cats she had nearly missed, but despite the craziness of the past moon or two, they landed in the right clan. Even proved themselves right away by saving some kits. But her dad, being made a Hornet!? "Congratulations, Da- Acornfall!" She shouldn't be calling him dad anymore, should she? Breezepaw could dwell on that later, for now, she went off to find Mallowswarm.

Tigerpelt noticed how shy and scared(?) the apprentice looked. He bent down to meet her eye level."Don't ya worry, we wont start your training today,"he meows hoping to sound comforting. He sat back up and flickerd his tail. "Feel free to go rest and get something to munch on."

Acornfall felt a tug at his paws when he noticed Dreamypaw's...spacey-ness. But he restrained himself from racing to her side. She was an apprentice now, she had to start figuring things out for herself...even if it killed him. Besides, he was needed here. He dipped his head to Spiderstar again and then turned to Risingstorm with a grin and a nod. Indicating that he was ready to go.
