The snow caked in his long fur, weighing him down and making him slower; as well as making him frustrated. However, the conversation reminded him they were supposed to be hunting, so he opened his mouth and took in a large breath in of cold air, ignoring the uncomfortable feeling of it cooling his insides. They were RiverClan cats and used to hunting in the river, but everything was frozen this time of the year. He knew they'd have to resort to hunting land prey. There might be water vole near the river. He thought but kept it to himself for now.

The tom caught sight of Cloversplash looking at him from the corner of his eyes, and he turned his head slightly to meet her gaze. He couldn't tell if he was bothered by the fact that she seemed amused by him, or if her amusement was amusing to him. After a few moments, the corners of his mouth drifted upward naturally in response to her smile, and even though he didn't smile often, it seemed natural on his features. He didn't have a lot of cats to smile at because he didn't know many of them, but he figured he knew Cloversplash enough that he could relax a bit around her and be himself.

"They may be frozen in these temperatures," He replied. "Though, I doubt we'll need to hide any of the prey if we even manage to find anything out here." It was a bit of a negative thing to say and realizing that he continued. "I do hope we find something, though, it'd be nice to bring Applethorn or one of the elders something fresh to eat." The warrior paused for a moment or two of comfortable silence. "Maybe we should go to the river? It's a little bit sunny, so there may be prey out sunning themselves in the open areas."
She listened to the soft words intently, once more feeling more gratitude even than what she had for the refreshing experience, albeit it taxing, of being out in the territory. At the comment of hoping to find food for the elders, she nodded silent agreement, exaggerating the natural bobbing of her head as they walked. The silence was well deserved, the soft noises of the territory in winter filtering in the break of conversation.

At his remark of the sun, she instinctively lifted her head, eyes looking towards the sky. But instead of simply seeing a drab sky, she was met with a surprising beautiful display. The sunlight filtered through thousands of tiny icicles, hooked to every branch and leaf, causing a beautiful, glittering effect to be made. It was dazzling, the sparkling of the water crystals staggeringly wonderful, the light dancing and shimmering inside the hardened bits of ice. Never in her two lives had she ceased to appreciate nature; this was a spectacular display, of how even in the midst of hard times, wonders abound. She remembered other things of beauty to her; not just of plants and ecosystems, but instead of experiences.

Days spent lounging by the riverside, warmed by the summer sun, cheered by the company of old friends. Strolling down the beach at sun fall with her first mate, Birchfall, and simply enjoying the presence of each other and the roaring ocean. The feeling of kits at her belly; they had been weak at birth, and she had lost them within a day, but for the moments they clung to life they had been a balm to her battered soul; losing a mate was not easy, and losing his kits even harder. The feeling of her adopted mother, Seabreeze, holding her close. And even more recent thoughts danced through her mind; the way that Russetstar had stepped up to the post of leader, a joyous day for the clan. The strange, yet beautiful way snow seemed to glitter like starlight against the deep, inky pelt of Blackgaze.

She shook her head and smiled at herself; far too often did she drift into memory, of loved ones she had lost, and of things she would never experience. She lowered her head, and looked over at Swampgaze; he was not particularly open or friendly at times, but he was certainly genuine and kind. It pleased her, even the slightest bit, to know that she would always have his friendship; she would not live another life this time, but instead would die, and at the very least would see him in StarClan again. Cloversplash's tail twitched at this thought; at this very moment, she should have been with the starry warriors above. Her death had been a fluke, the slice of a ShadowClan claw dug too deep. But this, this next existence, was even stranger, and almost worse. The memory of death had always hung just behind her; she remembered the pain, and then bleeding out on the ground, just waiting for her time to pass. But instead, she floated for a time, out of reach from spirit or body, until being sucked back into the form of a kit, almost exactly like her old self. She had not remembered her past life until becoming an apprentice, but it had always marked her as different.

Sucking in a breath of cold her, she rounded up her errant thoughts and turned her focus towards Swampstone. She had waited for a peculiar moment, and so now she responded quietly, and almost a bit unsurely."Um.. Yes, that would be a better idea than running around until sundown, waiting for something to happen. I mean, it's not like a vole is purposely going to run into our path. I just wish there was someplace where the river was not coated with ice."

Bouncing in her pawsteps, Tinypaw was more excited than she'd been in quite a long time. "I can't wait to see the river!" She exclaimed, having to take many more steps to keep up with Dappleblossom due to her shortened limbs. She was getting a bit tired, but her excitement kept her going. "I'm soo excited," she meowed, her ears swivelling in different directions to catch every sound, determined to soak up this wonderful experience as much she could to remember it forever. Suddenly, her nose caught on to the scent of what smelled like a mouse. Her eyes widened and smiled broadly. "I smell something!" She shout-whispered to her new mentor. "I don't know what it is; but it smells good." Tinypaw looked up at Dappleblossom for further instructions; particularly whether or not to go after it.

Dappleblossom strolled in the territory and watched her apprentice with kind eyes, smiling at her apprentice's enthusiasm. It made the dappled molly wonder how she was able to contain all this excitement for so many moons. She couldn't imagine how her parents were able to keep her out of trouble. When she mentioned the river, her tail twitched, however she kept her glowing smile plastered on her face, though her steps were more slow and hesitant. Avoiding the river was inevitable, though she knew her apprentice had no interest learning to swim as of that moment. She took a sniff and looked over to the direction the smell of the river was. It smelled of abundance of fish and the wetness of the water. The fish smell excited her. The water smell did not. She swiveled her attention back to her apprentice as she hears her exclaim of a scent she found. Dappleblossom lifted her nose and sniffed around the air. She smelled prey. Dappleblossom looked down at Tinypaw, who was awaiting instructions. "Well, what are you waiting for?" she purred, "Hunt down the scent. But mind the noise you make. Even the faintest of sounds can spook off prey."

The loner padded into the territory that reeked of Clan scent without any care, his smirk showed he didn't respect the Clan rules or boarders. His silver pelt gleamed in the sun, and his strides were long and powerful. He parted his jaws, scenting the air for any prey. He pricked his ears, scenting fish. He sighed in his mind, it would have to do to suppress his hunger. He stalked to the river, throwing his paw in and scooping out a surprisingly large fish. He killed it swiftly, settled on the Clan's territory, and began his meal.

Little did the loner know, a small she-cat was watching him. Sandpool's eyes narrowed with disgust at the loner who was now eating prey that belonged to her Clan. She glanced back at the camp, should she get a patrol? She shook her head, the loner would be gone if he was satisfied with the one fish. "What do you think you're doing here?" The fluffy Siamese she-cat asked, her icy eyes glittering with malice. The loner looked up with surprise at Sandpool. "I- I'm just.. uh.." he stuttered like a nervous kit. He spat at her, clawing her down her side. She yelled out, and the loner took off over the boarder. Cleaning her wound, Sandpool noted it wasn't that bad. She glanced at the fish, half eaten and turning to crowfood. She hissed in disgust, turning to go get her wound checked out.

It took him a few moments to realize just how tired Honeypool was, she did just come back from chasing a rabbit, supposedly, across the Riverclan border, and decided to slow down. The ebony warrior completely stopped and dug his claws into the ground, he didn't get it, what made the molly calm down when she thought of Windclan, all they did was chase rabbits and whine about their food, their weak and mouse-brains, he didn't get it, and it annoyed him. He turned to look directly at Honeypool and glared, his eyes were accusing and full of anger, but it wasn't towards the molly, no, not at all, in all honesty he grew quite fond of the molly, her weakness, her sweetness, her fear, he felt as though her could protect her, he would protect her. "Why in the name of Starclan are you defending them? I never said anything about Blazingstar being a bad leader, and Russetstar was appointed by Starclan to become leader, they're star's apart." he snapped, his tail lashed back and fourth, he soon realized that he was yelling at the molly, he let out a snort and turned around. The warrior dug his claws into the soil and let out a huff, he didn't like it, the fact that she sided with them, why could she side with him, was he really all that bad? Was he really that scary, that evil? He lowered his eyelids and let out a long sigh, his tail drooped and his ears flattened against his head, never, not once in his live time, has he shown his soft, defeated side to another cat, but he didn't care, he felt as though he had been clawed in the stomach, no, he felt as though his heart had been clawed "Yeah....that's true, there are some evil cats in all clans...even Riverclan......" he trailed off, he thought about it, deeply about it, and he came to a conclusion, he was one of those evil cats, he killed, even though he did it for his clan, he still killed, and it has been eating away his soul. Fallenstream let out a long sigh and turned his head to look at Honeypool "you can go back to camp if you would like, I won't make you come hunt with me, you're tired and you need to rest." he stated, his tail tip flicked as he awaited to hear the molly walk away.

Honeypool smiled sweetly at the tom, she felt her guard of the tom easing off her shoulders and she felt herself feel a bit lighter. Though she felt embarrassed when she noticed that he saw through her fib about how tired she was. She looked over to the river. It was almost time for newleaf to arrive, so the temperatures were expected to rise and the snowy ground to melt. Placing her aching feet into the river did seem nice. "Alright, I'm game." she says, agreeing with his statement. She licked her lips in excitement and hunger. She had only ate small prey that day to satisfy her from her trip to the border and the way back. However, she wasn't going to rush her time with the tom. Looking around, she asks him. "Where do you want to start, now?" she looks at him, flicking her tail slightly. "I-I could go up ahead and search for some prey hiding out nearby and you could stay here and try to catch some fish." She hoped he wasn't some drypaw that was afraid the tiniest of his furs would get wet. He looked like a big, mean, intimidating cat, but now she is seeing him in a different angle. There was a cat hiding underneath that demeanor and though she just met the cat, she never saw him in camp before because she doesn't spend so much time observing cats, she wanted to stick around his side to see what was truly inside of his dark pelt. She realized how suspicious it seemed for her to suggest that she leave him by the river while she go search for land prey. She wasn't too sure that she gained his full trust yet. What if he suspects that she is going to up and leave him to hunt for prey while she makes getaway? "O-Or, maybe vice versa?" she added in, to make herself seem less suspicious. She didn't really mind what job she would be assigned to. Despite tired feet, she was certainly a speedy cat that could catch up to some mouse and dipping her paws into cool, refreshing water seemed nice, though she wasn't the best at catching fish. She awaited for his call to see what they would do.

The quiet she-cat heard a splash and turned toward the river. She padded forward until she saw the splashmarks in the snow, not quite noticing the tracks from the trees. She padded forward and looked into the water, squinting.

Goldpaw yowled a warning to what she guessed was Mosswhisper, judging by the way the cat leaped a taillength in the air and sprinted away. The golden she-cat dove into the water, pumping her legs to reach the bottom. Opening her eyes she looked around, but saw nothing. She shivered and let the current take her further downstream. She was running out of breath, so she lunged at the nearest dark mass and swam up to the surface, sucking in air as she struck out for shore.

Goldpaw's vision was darkening at the edges, and her movements weakened. She was running out of air. She pushed harder, making it to the surface. She struggled to breathe through the wet fur, trying not to let go. Blinking the water from her eyes, she blearily looked around while trying to keep her head above water. She struck out perpendicular to the current, trying to reach any land before...she.......

Goldpaw's paws faltered and she went limp, sinking below the surface with the kit's scruff still in her jaws.

He blinked his eyes open seeing he was being held by goldpaw. He wriggled free and kicked her stomach and nudged her up and up until he got her to the surface. He pushed her to the shore as he curled up next to her "dont go..." He cried
