I have to show you something!" She bluffed, her fur bristling as she raced to go and fetch her mother in a hurry. There's Whisperblaze, too... I can't let them see her- I have to think of something big to distract her, quickly! Thankfully, she hadn't seen Russetstar yet, so he might not even be here at the moment. "You guys shouldn't go in there... You'll scare somebody." She stammered, her tail flicking in discomfort as she tried to think of a better excuse to distract him.
Russetstar didn't happen to even be in his den- he was on the other side of camp, looking for his mate, Whisperblaze. He hadn't caught sight of the two entering the camp yet, being much too busy to notice the pair. In recent news, his mate had gone on some sort of expedition and hadn't been back at camp since, worrying the russet-patterned tom as he sifted through other cats, asking them questions and looking around his side of the camp, already having checked the first half where Shellfeather and Spicepaw now resided. Thankfully, he hadn't been integrated into all of this drama quite yet, but he was very easy to spot in a crowd of cats thanks to his handsome markings.
|
Shellfeather slowed, turning to look at her daughter. The white cat looked about ready to argue, but thought the better of it. "You're right Rabbitpaw. We haven't been here in almost six moons. We probably need to be introduced to the clan again." There was disapointment in her voice, but also understanding. "Where should we wait for Russetstar?" She asked, purring. "I also want to see Cricketpaw." Shellfeather's ears pricked as she looked towards the medicine den, hoping to spot her other daughter. "And Apple..." Shellfeather's voice trailed off. Her eldest daughter was a warrior, now, right? Shell wasn't sure, but she knew she'd figure out soon. The she-cat turned her blue gaze to Rabbitpaw, awaiting her instructions.
Spicepaw was sitting behind his mother, casting his yellow-green gaze around the clearing. Of course, the ever observant tom had already spotted his father. Spicepaw had an urge to walk over, but if Russetstar saw him, he'd assume that Shellfeather was here too. And from the worry in Rabbitpaw's voice, Spicepaw knew something was up. He just didn't know what. His most-likely guess was that Russetstar had gotten a new mate. The russet-colored apprentice wasn't surprised. His father was nice, and handsome, and Spice supposed every she-cat in the clan had a crush on him. Spicepaw himself didn't understand how one cat could attract so much attention. He'd seen it before, with a loner they'd met on their journey. He then turned his gaze back to Shellfeather and Rabbitpaw, seeing his mother looking expectantly at his sister.
Oh Rabbitpaw, please think of something quickly. He silently pleaded, trying to catch his sister's eye.

"I can stay if you want, but if you'd rather me leave, I can bring this stuff to Geckoleaf..."
Ravenkit's body was rigid; one paw in the air and ready to turn tail in case Blossomkit didn't want him there, but his hindquarters were halfway to the ground, in case she wanted him to stay. The position made his legs ache, but he was too focused on Blossomkit to care. Others before himself, at least, that's what his mother had always told him.
Until she thought of herself before me and became a kittypet. he thought bitterly.

NO!" The shriek left her maw before she even realized it, and then once she did, Blossomkit's ears went back again. "I-I mean, y-you don't have to. I-I would rather you stay b-but, if you want to you... can." Go ahead and leave. See if I care. The thought was harsh, but Blossomkit had to make sure that she was careful about her personal connections to other cats. Copperkit loved her very much and got overprotective of her. Way, way, way too overprotective. And he was so annoying about it too... Blossomkit didn't have a lot of bad thoughts about other cats, because all the other cats seemed to always walk away when she did, so she tried to keep her maw shut. It was the smart thing to do. "I'm okay. Sorry, just... y'know, nerves and stuff." Nerves and stuff? How weak that must have sounded. But at least she wouldn't have to talk now. At least she would shut up and keep her maw carefully closed, forever being cautious of the tom who was so friendly towards her. His intentions were still questionable. But at least now she had someone who either really cared or even if he didn't, at least he was pretending to care. Either way was going to make her just as happy for the moment.

Ravenkit pinned his ears back nervously when the shriek erupted from the depths of Blossomkit's throat, but when she explained that she'd rather him stay, he kicked the moss aside and set himself down carefully beside Blossomkit. He tucked his forepaws neatly under his belly and stroked his tail lightly along the she-kit's flank comfortingly. He didn't speak; if she needed to, she would, and he would reply as needed, but for now, he guessed that she just needed someone next to her.
When she said that it was just nerves, he gave a nod, barely noticeable. "I understand." he replied quietly. He really did understand, too; Ravenkit had been a lot more timid before he had met Shadepaw. The big Apprentice had brought him out of his shell a little and made him feel more wanted.

The touch was light, and comforting, and cautious; like he thought he might break her, but he wanted to help at the same time. It was a touch that Blossomkit knew all too well. The kind of touch someone gave a nervous or dying cat, or when they weren't quite sure what to do. Well, she knew she wasn't dying. But she was certainly nervous, and she couldn't be sure whether Ravenkit knew what to do or not. He seemed to. In a matter of moments, she was calm and drew away carefully, a polite way of telling him she was fine. The politest she could muster at the moment, anyways. "You... do?" No one ever understood. The she cat's fluffy pelt seemed to fluff out even more as she awaited the tom's explanation. He understood? But how? Licking her maw somewhat worriedly, the feline stared at him expectantly. There was no way that he could possibly understand, so why would he play with her? Yes, that was the first thing she thought of. That he was teasing her. Mocking her. Leading her on, playing with her only to tear her down later. Unfortunately it was the way that Blossomkit's mind worked, she didn't know another.

"Yes, I understand." he mewed quietly, bringing his tail back to curl around himself. "My nerves were a lot worse when... when my mother left to become a kittypet." These words were hard to say, and he sighed, his eyes clouding with grief. "Nightwhisker - well, Queenie now, she left as soon as I was weaned. Cats bullied me; they still do, and I was always nervous I'd be hurt, or thrown out of the Clan. But Shadepaw helped me, and now I want to help you."
With every word, the little tom's voice grew more confident. "You don't have to be scared or nervous around me. I'd never be mean to any cat, especially not you. Kits don't deserve that kind of treatment, anyhow."

Whisperblaze bursted into camp, with Shiverkit on his back balanced peacefully. Blue eyes darted around the clearing for his mate, Russetstar, and he wanted him to be aware that he was home. The tom had had a weird dream before he left, something telling him that he needed to go, be he knew he would return. He was happy to be home, and excited to introduce Shiverkit to the tom. His body felt heavy, after so much walking and traveling all in one day his paws ached and he was left exhausted, but he still sped into the clearing to find the certain ginger leader he was looking for. ¨Alright Shiverkit, were home. Im going to introduce you to the other cat that will be helping to take care of you, I promise he´ll take very good care of you and try to help.¨ he smiled and glanced back at the grey kit that was snugged in his fur warmly, holding on to balance himself. ¨This is your new home. After I find who Im looking for well settle to get some sleep, okay?¨ he was sure the kit was tired, as thi had been a very long, interesting day for them both. Whisper didnt expect to be a father again. Russet was one to stand out a bt due to his swirled markings, so finding him was no hard task. Whisperblaze approached his mate, a bright mile on his face. He hadnt noticed Shellfeather yet. ¨Russet- oh am I so glad to see you.¨

Thornkit smiled, bounding after Brackenheart, all his life the tall tom hadn't known he was adopted, and he was incredibly close with his parents. "Yea! Kits will just get dirty, ma keeps grooming be everytime I eat, I can never get peace!" he wriggled his hind quarters, leaping into the air, catching a small crow's feather as he landed. He yelped as a thorn stuck itself into his paw, with him whimpering.

Silentshade must have had ears of a Starclan cat because as soon as she heard Thornkit yelp, she barreled out of the nursery. "Thornkit! What in the name of Starclan happened?! Where are you hurt?" She nosed the tiny kits paw, and seeing the thorn, "This will hurt a bit sweetie, but a brave warrior like you can take it, can't you?" She pulled it out and then showed it to Brackenheart. " So he landed on the thorn, and you didn't have the sense to check the clearing before he started jumping around?! Sometimes I think you have the mind of a kittypet Brackenheart!" She licked the fur on top of Thornkit's head, all she cared about was that he was safe, much worse could have happened, he could have broken his paw, or hit his head, or smashed his tail or jammed his precious little nose on a rock! "He could have hurt himself more than he did, and he's lucky he didn't!" Silentshade snapped, when it came down to Thornkit's personal safety and emotional health, no cat messed with him; for fear of facing her or Brackenheart's claws.
"Silentshade, we was being careful, accidents happen, and every kit gets a thorn in their paw sometime! Who hasn't?!" Brackenheart grumbled. But he could see how devoted the she-cat was to protecting the kit, and he felt the same, "Why don't you go play with the other kits Thornkit? Me and your mother need to talk." Brackenheart loved his foster son; but the kit needed to play with kits his own age.

Mostly work and next to no play, it was greatly different from his life as a kit. He had been hoping for some kind of release, for something to keep his mind off of the earlier half of his kithood. And it did distract him from thinking about it, he supposed, but he had wanted a better, happier alternative. At least he was learning something. I guess.
That didn't really make it any better. Well, his mentor had let him off early, anyway, so Littlepaw wanted to spend the rest of the day doing something fun. Padding into the camp minutes after Geyserpaw had, he came upon the sight of a grey and white apprentice dancing around the camp, probably chasing a leaf or something of the like. A mischievous grin grew on Littlepaw's face as he watched the unfamiliar tom. Hesitating for a few moments, making sure there were no cats walking into his path, he trotted over to the feline and caught sight of the ant that he was following. Littlepaw tilted his head, squinting at the ant for a couple seconds before raising a white paw and placing it on top of the bug. The LaPerm apprentice hummed a quiet, slow tune, lifting his paw back up and watching the ant stroll away. Finally, he focused his attention on the stranger. "Hello!" he grinned, involuntarily glancing back at the bug but settling his gaze on the other apprentice's once more. "I'm Littlepaw."
|
Geyserpaw chased the ant about, nearly bumping into some warrior, but narrowly avoiding it as he continued to bounce around, chasing after it. He wondered if the ant knew that he wasn't going to squash it, because it seemed to be running away as fast as its . . . . “Wow . . . . He breathed, staring at it. Never before had he noticed that ain't had two legs more than he did, and it fascinated him. He was having way more fun than he would've been having if he'd taken up the offer to go hunting, since his mentor was missing and he hadn't been assigned a new one yet. He flicked his gray tipped ears and touched his nose the ant then flinched away as it tried to bite him. He was wondering how painful an ant bite would be when a paw planted itself on the ant, nearly causing Geyserpaw to jump with surprise.
He looked up at the new cat, who was a rather unusual looking tom about his age. He nodded. “Hi!” he said to the apprentice who'd introduced themselves as Littlepaw. “I'm Geyserpaw.” he gave a little bounce, then bent his head, licking the ant. It stuck to his tongue and was in his mouth in a heartbeat. He hadn't expected that, and he tried to spit it out, but ended up accidentally swallowing it. It had no taste since he'd not killers it, so it was like swallowing a clump of wriggling dirt or a couple grains of sand. He sat down, his gray and white pelt sticking up, somewhat due to his displeasure of eating the ant alive. Geyserpaw shook himself then grinned, her tail tapping the ground and paws moving. He was being his usual self and finding it nearly impossible to hold still. It always was quite hard, and he wished that he could at least stay still while hunting. “That ant tastes like sand.” he said, shaking his head. That was his way of telling the curly furred apprentice that he should never, never eat an ant alive. He stood up, subconsciously lifting and raising each of his paws in turn, as if he was walking in pace almost.

"Okay," he padded off, shuffling. He had no other kit friends, and he always heard his parents argue. He sighed as he nonchalantly swatted at a leaf, causing it to break.
