"I know that." Hunterpaw smirked. "I just wanted to see how much farther we could run."

Brambleflash sat beside him with his tail wrapped around his paws.

Cavemist nodded, but he was dine hunting. He wasn't going to admit it, but he was rather exhausted from his previous hunt that morning and that mad dash after the rabbit and down the tunnel. It'd taken more effort that the solid gray tom had expected. He watched as Brambleflash dashed off, a feeling welling up in his chest, causing it to ache. For the longest time, Cavemist had admired Brambleflash, and though nobody knew it, it felt like something further than admiration now, something special and precious. When he looked up again, he saw Brambleflash coming back and smiled, jumping to his paws and setting to work burying the rabbit he'd caught, which he would fetch later. “That was fast.” the warrior commented.

She seemed like a caring cat, perfect for a mother. Cavemist purred and sat down, raising one forepaw and drawing it over his tall, pointed ears slowly, leaving the fur looking wet and flat, odd compared to the wispy gray fur that stood up around it. “Rabbit is the best. A lot of fun to chase down tunnels if you like tight, dark places.” Cavemist said, shrugging. He did like the rabbit tunnels, although he'd never understood why.

"No problem. And I mean it, you'd be one of the most caring fathers I know." She chuckled. "Thank you. Perhaps i'll find a nice tom who feels the same." She purred, hoping she didn't come across as rude. "Not that you aren't nice! I erm - just, couldn't see us.. you know.." she awkwardly trailed off with a shrill laugh. "Uh - anyways.. yeah! Rabbit tunnels are nice to hunt in." She agreed. "So.. would you ever want an apprentice? I sort of want to be assigned one to pass on my knowledge.." she said off with a smile.

Ebonyflicker thought back to the battle, his claws sinking into the sun-baked earth as he listened to his apprentice, "Well, thank you, I think.." The tom shook his pelt and rolled over in the heather again, flaring his nostrils as a cloud of dust rose up and clogged his senses. He stood up and fell into a coughing fit, wheezing and struggling to breathe as the coughing stopped. Ebonyflicker sat back down, "Wow, that dust is truly awful, I don't recommend trying it." The warrior joked, grooming his chest fur.

Midgepaw tilted their head, their confusion evident upon their face as they heard Ebonyflicker list off the cats he'd fought for. “Aren't those the bad cats though?” although they'd not lived in WindClan very long, they knew well enough the stories of the evil era leaders, and had seen both leader and deputy from WindClan, but no one from the other Clans. They didn't know it, but the WindClan evil era deputy was their kin, their mother's father. No one in WindClan knew this, apart from a cat that Midgepaw had never met, and that was Dovecloud. Midgepaw watched with a worried expression as Ebonyflicker broke into a coughing fit, then nodded. “I'll be careful not to.” Midgepaw couldn't help but laugh at it, although they tried to hide it. The shifted, the prickly grass underfoot causing them to step to the side, where the grass was flattened out, caked into the dried mud. Their mottled fur had collected some of the dust cloud, so when they shook, dust flew everywhere, making them sneeze. “Wasn't careful enough.” Midgepaw sighed, shaking their head in dismay.

Cavemist shook his head, unable to help himself as a laugh erupted from inside, making his eyes water. “I know what you mean. I couldn't see us either, not that you aren't a good cat, I'm just not sure she-cats are quite for me.” Cavemist explained, not at all offended by what could've easily offended any other tom. He nodded in agree, glad someone finally got his love for damp, stale aired tunnels that were easy to get lost in, although when he put it that way, he could see why others usually hated them. “Oh yes! I have one, actually. Safepaw.” Cavemist said, puffing out his chest proudly, his eyes shining with his often infectious enthusiasm.

"Was it really the running you wanted to keep doing?" Swiftpaw asked "Or was it something else?" She turned and padded back to their friends, who were waiting for them
"You guys get so carried away," Curlypaw sighed, his curly fur more out of control than usual
"Yeah, show offs," Snowpaw grumbled, ears back in annoyance.

She laughed as well, not sure what she was worried about. "Well, whatever makes you happy. I'm just glad you aren't like some other toms" she chuckled, grinning. "That's nice!" She trilled, wishing she had an apprentice. "I'm sure Safepaw will grow into a fine warrior" she mewed happily. "I'm still hoping for one, but i'm willing to wait." She added, knowing she'd get one sooner or later at some point.

Cavemist tilted his hard, surprised. “Oh? What do you mean by that?” he said, puzzled. What was wrong with other toms? This, this he had to know, it peaked his curiosity just too much to ignore. “Thanks you! If you ever have an apprentice, I'm sure they'll be great!” he added, nodding at Caracalspirit in a strange gesture, indicating that he was done speaking, and it was her turn yo answer his question, because he just had to get an answer, but he did his best to remain patient, paws prickling eagerly.

"It depends on who you ask, but for me, Gorsefeather brought me to Windclan during the great fire in Thunderclan's territory. He brought Bramblekit and I when we were just barely kits. Singenight, then Singeflicker let us stay, he saved our lives and we owed him everything." Ebonyflicker's head was raised high and he puffed his chest out proudly. "Singenight trained me to be the best fighter I could want to be. I took up the second part of his name to remember what he did for me and one of my only friends at that time." He finished the short story, his eyes filled with pride, "I grew up with cats from other clans who looked up to others they'd grown up with, Brokenpeak with Ashnight, Reedbriar with Bucknight, and Moonwhisker with Ratnight." The way he'd said Moonwhisker was filled with longing as he thought of the she-cat, shaking his head slightly, "She always was stubborn.." He purred, "Life with them was fun, all the dares and bets, I miss them a lot." The golden warrior rose an eyebrow and laughed, "I know I never was too careful with dust clouds."
