Seeing as the other she-cat didn't seem to be bothered by her rather profound mention of death, Duskfeather seemed to dawn a happier look, her eyes focusing on the white she-cat for a moment. Now isn't that a rarity. It wasn't very often that another cat wasn't phased or upset by mentioning of death or dead bodies or something else just as morbid as the previously stated; while she never really cared about what other cats thought or said, it was a bit of a relief to finally have someone not ask her to be quiet about such things. Now she wasn't stupid, she didn't want to push it and have a full out conversation about how the death of one clan would effect all of the others and surely the surrounding ecosystem because after all, she didn't want to risk driving away a potential new friend. So she let the conversation drop. And just as easily as a current shifts, so did the conversation.

"Personally I'm glad that my fur is on the shorter side of the spectrum.
The only thing that is unfortunate is when leafbare comes, but I can deal with it.
" She decided to indulge on the small tangent of fur length, even though that's not why she made mention of the Shadowclan warriors fur. Cloudstrike probably knew what she was talking about and likely in turn decided to just not make mention of it. That was actually smart on her part. Moving the conversation to something that wouldn't be a dead end. Huh. I think I'm starting to like this cat.
Even if it wasn't purposeful and that's just how Cloudstrike's thought process went, Duskfeather couldn't help but be impressed.
"Ah.. Yes that sounds like quite the fantasy, I would highly doubt that would be a real occurrence. More than likely it was one of your dreams, after all, you seem to have quite the.. Imagination." Meowed the sandy brown she-cat, looking back ahead and noting that the stream she was heading to was now visible. And with that knowledge, she decided it was best not to start speaking again, they would likely reach it before being able to finish their topic anyways, especially with the tangents the other she-cat went off on.

One ear swiveling in Cloudstrike's direction, she paid attention to what she was saying without looking over, her paws carrying her swiftly to the water in which she would stop at the streams edge just as the Shadowclan warrior exclaimed her new nickname. Tilting her head and looking at the she-cat, she tried to read her face to see if she was playing. What she say there was not amusement like this was a joke, but innocent happiness.
"Dawny.. Not so catchy, I believe Dawn would be better suited for nickname standards, but call me as you wish." Clearing her throat, she'd look at the stream, remembering when she was but an apprentice. Her first swimming lessons.
"Well we're here. Currents not strong, so just start wading out a little bit,
at least until the water gets up to your belly fur. I'll go with you, but really,
you shouldn't need to worry.
"
(It really isXD)

Though Cloudstrike was still talking as Duskfeather mentioned that she preferred her short hair, she'd still paused to mew, "Yes, I'd imagine it gets cold in leafbare. But it must be pleasant in greenleaf." Her tangents went on and on and as Duskfeather said that her story seemed more of a fantasy, the molly shrugged, "Probably," she mewed without a hint of sarcasm in her voice, "but does it really matter? I've been told that before!" A smile crossed her maw. With as many thoughts as Cloudstrike had bouncing around in her skull, at least one of them would have to be that she wasn't exactly like other cats. Part of her knew that she was different, and calling it an active imagination was kind. The thoughts moved quickly, but that was one that stuck. Perhaps because every odd look brought it back to the surface. Due to this, she really appreciated the wording Duskfeather used.

Cloudstrike noted her companion's silence as she rambled about what nickname she should use, but thought nothing of it. She also noted that the stream was getting closer, and that there weren't any birds singing, and that clouds were starting to move away from the sun, and that fish must have a difficult time eating since they have such slippery fins. None of these things stayed at the forefront of her mind for longer than a moment, but somehow the nickname train of thought managed to reach completion. Cloudstrike was very proud of her nickname creation, but Duskfeather's suggestion made her pause. "You're right!" She purred, happy even though it wasn't what she'd originally decided on. "Dawn it is."

They'd reached the stream and Duskfeather had begun speaking. Cloudstrike heard every word, but was bounding into the water before her teacher had finished telling her not to worry. Perhaps it was the naivety, or perhaps her many thoughts left no room for fear but Cloudstrike never seemed to fear everything. She looked at everything with an open mind, including water despite having her camp just flooded. "This is fun!" She exclaimed, splashing about in the water. It was cold, but she didn't mind as much as she had earlier. Besides, the bog of Shadowclan territory had made her used to getting her paws wet. The water around her turned brown as the dried mud began to wash off, and her movement through the waves seemed to help remove the tougher bits until the long-furred warrior was almost clean.

Herringpaw said and placed his long, fluffy tail on her shoulder. "At least, we know they probably owe us something now." He chuckled.

Creekgaze was beginning to consider forsaking the whole 'staying-in-Riverclan' thing.
It was abundantly clear that cats like them didn't belong-- they'd never expected anything like a flood to occur in their Clan's territory, but the slim tabby had found the hard way that Starclan really did do whatever they really wanted; even if it meant claiming another few cats for their own.
The partially deaf feline let their ragged breaths slow, into the regular pattern they usually found them to be in, and shook their thick pelt to and fro-- having accidentally fell into a small stream (they had failed to make out the babbling noise of it close to their paws,) they shivered. It was, quite frankly, an unbearable predicament, but the Shadowclan warrior would much rather prefer this to being dead.

Smokestep, who had been sitting along the river grooming himself trying to seek peace away from the busy camp of the clan who helped them, shook his head to clear away the sleepy thoughts. The big smoke black male looked to his right and saw the she-cat sitting at the side, her wet fur clinging to her frame. He stood up and slowly padded up to the cat, making sure she knew he was there.

Oh, Starclan, they internally snapped, twitching at the distance between them-- or lack thereof. Creekgaze always fancied themself to be someone who went unnoticed, someone who could be part of something but never independently recognized; it was something that often kept them from flipping straight off the handle. They found themself sidling away from the scent and the huge dark frame that had so suddenly slipped into their view, but raised their grey head, the fur upon their cheeks drooping in a particularly sorry image.

Whatever this feline wanted, they would have to make it quick. Creekgaze was painfully aware of how effeminate their thin, pale green eyes made them appear, and if this... stranger had anything romantically oriented to say, then they knew exactly what to retort with. Yes, it was probably a good idea to try and get one's spirits up to be in the midst of things in order to help morals when their camp was in a safe state to rebuild, but the sopping wet warrior was not happy to be pestered by one they did not know.

"Chivalry is dead, just so you know," they muttered, immediately getting to the task of thoroughly deterring this good-looking tom from whatever the hell he had in mind. Sure, Smokestep could just be making sure if they were okay, but Creek never loved giving too many chances. Their tail lashed as they awaited a response.

The dark grey tom shook his head, the light grey fur around his neck shaking. He slowly sat down and said, "Are you truly okay?" He twitched his ears toward her thin, wet frame. "You fell into the stream. It won't be good." He slowly angled his head, silently asking if he could help her get her fur clean and dry.

They blinked once, ear flicking in what could be disbelief, before gracing him with a prickly response. "Yes," they bit out, feeling somewhat patronised. "I am." They weren't paranoid, not really, but something about the way Smokestep spoke to then rubbed Creekgaze the wrong way. Watching him get comfortable with an unbroken turquoise stare, the lightly built tabby stood in the very same position they had been heartbeats before. The enby really did wish Pinewhisker was with them right now, but their associate had things to do, like mourning their apprentice, hunting, and, well.. Doing the things a blind warrior of their type would. Their mainly observational sense of humor (Ironic, they knew,) would definitely help in a situation like this; Creekgaze felt as if they were being held hostage by their well-meaning Clanmate.

They guffawed at his next statements, forcefully drying their face-fur and concealing a quiet sneeze as they swung their head in a fashion reminiscent of a tree swaying in a huge storm. "No, duh. I fell into the Dark Forest's secret base. Of course I fell into that stream, but I appreciate your ever-so-intelligent observation." Stubbornly raising a shoulder as they brought themself into a sitting position not too far from him, Creek began daintily grooming a paw as they found their lofty gaze settling upon him again, the way he quirked his head as he considered the next thing he was going to do.

To be truthful, they hadn't heard his gentle affirmation of the negativity of, well, falling into a Riverclan stream just after a flood, but the elm-grey tabby figured they heard enough. They'd never admit to anything else, after all. As he approached them again, they rolled their eyes, but nodded, relinquishing consent. "Just my back. I don't need your help."

Smokestep nodded slowly. He had a thought about how hard it was for himself to accept help and guessed it would only be harder for the she-cat. He shook his head to clear the thought and then shifted his position and slowly, gently started licking the she-cat's fur. He looked up at her and slowly meowed," It's brave that you accepted my offer of help." He let the comment stay in the air as he continued to help her with drying her fur.

(Is he flirting..lol)
Honeypaw nodded," Yeah, they do owe us, and we can't demand free hunting in there nasty swamp...like we'd want it, they'd be mad at that demand." She chuckled.

It was hard to keep track of everything that happened, but every day, they were able to recover. He had faith in his clan, and faith in everything.
"We are," Arcticstorm agreed, his blue eyes staring out into the territory. In green-leaf, a thick pelt wasn't generally appreciated - especially if it was a dark color - but the white tom having quite a light one, he didn't mind as much. Though if Arcticstorm did mind, it wouldn't be obvious. He was always calm. Always had that same polite tone in his voice. "It's a good thing we're doing well this green-leaf. Since we have another Clan in our territory, that is." The white feline's voice was almost curious, but he wasn't outright asking a question. It wasn't really his business why Russetstar had allowed ShadowClan to take refuge here. And besides, they were as much a part of the forest as anyone else. As important as anyone else in the forest.
