There it was, his anxiety once again. It always popped up at the worst times, and that was a wonderful thing. "Of course you do," he muttered, not even really audible. What had made Fallenstream change so quickly? He had no idea, and honestly, he wasn't even going to try and understand. "I will, I will," he mumbled after a moment. Starclan, couldn't Fallenstream see he was tired? It had been a long day, and he had felt as though the Sky had been crashing down on him the whole time. He knew it wasn't, but, well, when he started to overreact those kinds of things happened. He knew he shouldn't, and maybe he should talk about the fact that he was always overreacting in not the best ways when he was yelled at or scolded or whatever. However, he didn't do that. He was deputy. He was strong. He didn't need help. He let himself believe that for a second, before he realized that he might need to talk to Daypaw about that. They might be able to help, he never knew. "I have full faith in Daypaw," Golden said after a moment, his voice cold, though he wasn't exactly glaring. He knew that Fallenstream was right about him not trusting himself. However, he wasn't going to admit that. He would hide it for as long as he could, even if it ended up being his downfall, which he bet it would be. Just simply following Fallenstream, not making eye contact with the other tom.

The ebony warrior lashed his tail and kept his pace, expecting the slimmer feline to keep up. He had forgotten just how tired he was, just how much his own limbs ached, although he hadn't escorted a whole clan across marsh and through a storm. After a few moments of huffing the deputy lashed his tail and turned his blue optics upon the tabby once more "Okay, okay, we're all tired, some more than others...alot more.....I apologize for snapping." he apologized. Fallenstream knew he had to keep face, he couldn't risk making an enemy out of one who would be potentially staying in their clan for a while. 'What would Honeypool think?' It popped up in his head that almost made him freeze up, his blood froze and for a second his limbs didn't seem to listen to his orders. Would the Molly detest him if he annoyed the deputy of Shadowclan? She was already avoiding him...she was already ignoring him, he wasn't sure if he could take her hating him. He pushed the thoughts aside and focused his gaze to his front and began to chew on his lower lip. 'You say that....and yet.' he held back saying that aloud, Fallenstream knew that it was important to keep faith in those around you, although he himself hadn't had faith in his higher ups till about now. "Seems like I'm not the only one who doesn't trust myself." he said quietly, realizing that Goldeneye hadn't answered the other half of his question. Although he wouldn't admit it aloud, he was relieved that he wasn't the only one who didn't believe in himself, it almost made him chuckle.

Lately, he's been incredibly cautious about anything involving Everwhisper, as if she was hiding behind every bush, listening in on his conversations. However, he didn't want Caracalfrost to feel bad for either failing to make him laugh or causing him uneasiness, so he forced a small chuckle. Whenever he laughed or smiled, his eyes would narrow; he would squint. He couldn't help it, as his cheekbones seemed to decide to rise so high that they basically squeezed his eyes shut.
Of course, he didn't want anything more in this moment than to laugh with Caracalfrost about Everwhisper's skepticism and possessiveness. Unfortunately, Sorreltuft's strong commitment to his mate denied him the ability to do so. Or rather, Sorreltuft's opinion on the entire topic wouldn't allow him to genuinely laugh as much as he desired. He was too depressed - caused by his situation with Everwhisper - to so much as laugh about it. Sorreltuft nearly cried thinking about it, but he refused to let the tears surface. After all, he'd gotten himself into this mess.
After half-heartedly chuckling, Sorreltuft shook his head. ``No, actually, I think she's really committed to me.`` He sighed sadly. ``I just feel so guilty - I wasn't very committed to her.`` And I don't think I'll ever genuinely be. Yet his gentleman nature forced him to remain by Everwhisper's side. It was partly his fault they had kits so young when they could've been living life to the fullest. It was his duty, as a father, to look after them and make sure they were as happy as possible. He also felt that if he left Everwhisper, she'd be heartbroken, and he wouldn't dare hurt his former best friend. Basically, Sorreltuft just couldn't win.
|
Golden optics showed the cat's concern as she realized that Sorreltuft wasn't laughing. Or at least, he didn't seem to be - not really. She knew him. "That was a joke, you know. It's okay to laugh," The feline mewed with a weak smile. But her expression grew more serious as she stood a little closer to her friend. Part of her was struggling to keep the temperature of her pelt down, as well as her heart rate even. She didn't want it to speed up. He couldn't know... he couldn't know. He could never know. Not with a mate and not with kits. Especially since she was supposed to be something outside of his love life, someone he could count on. What would Sorreltuft do if she suddenly became a part of it? And besides, what could be done about her feelings? Her best friend wouldn't leave his mate for her. If he were willing to do that, maybe she would have told him long ago. But, Caracalfrost knew that he was too loyal to Everwhisper. Despite the fact that she was awful - no, no, that wasn't her opinion on the cat. It wasn't supposed to be. Support. She needed to be supportive.
"I know something has to be wrong, Sorreltuft. I know you."
Had she said something? Probably, sometimes Caracalfrost had a mouth that was way too quick-moving for her mind. Meaning, she would think before she spoke. And sometimes she would say things that would come out a different way. Most of her words had some sarcastic meaning behind them, or a joking tone, but every once in a while she was completely serious. Like now. But, not long after she had spoken, he told her. Was that what was bothering him? "Oh." Great, no sympathetic comment? No friendly comment, at least? Nothing that would pick up his spirits again? A joke didn't seem appropriate right now. Even though Caracalfrost wanted to say something - badly - she knew it would most likely seem not funny at all. And, the last thing she wanted to do was seriously offend her friend.
"You really shouldn't talk yourself down, you know. You're a good cat - Everwhisper knows that, and I know that. Everything's going to work out for the best, you'll see."
Keeping her heart rate carefully stabilized at a normal rate, the she cat leaned fowards and touched her nose to his ear in an affectionate manner. That was pretty good, Caracalfrost! No freaking out. And hey, that was a nice comforting comment, too, She thought with an inward smile. Pulling away and trying not to feel awkward, as well as trying to keep her body neutral, the she cat gave him a bright smile. Maybe she should take some of her own words to heart - everything would work out for the best. It had to. Sooner or later, something good would come into her life and maybe she could finally move on from her first and currently only love. Little crushes didn't count. Sorreltuft was the one cat she had loved for... well... for what seemed like forever, and she only wished things were different. Everything's going to work out for the best. You'll see.

Re: RiverClan Territory
{Shadowclan moved here because of the flood so...}
@ Stormpelt
The tom made his rounds, keeping himself low to the ground. Aspen looked, eyes flicking left to right. Step by Step he walked across to a small stream. He took a few sips, laying down slightly. His fur was slicked down to his body, fur matted in blood. The small battle he had just one left him with many small scratches. But now the badger living in his territory had gone. Aspen took a small sniff, remembering the Shadowclan and Riverclan smell. The tom looked around,
hoping he wouldn't be found trespassing. He moved quickly, seeing a small rodent making it's way swiftly across the marsh. Step by Step, second by second.
The tom remained unhidden, until swift attacking any killing the prey. He laughed slightly, taking a bite and not bothering to hide himself.

Creekstorm walked beside Nightshade. Why did you ask her to go hunting Creekstorm. You don't even know this she-cat. The tom shook the thought away. How bad can it be...

Goldeneye simply following Fallenstream, expecting the silence to just stretch out, and his words be the end of the conversation. Because of that, he pushed up a bit, and now kept pace with the Riverclan deputy. He couldn't exactly expect the other tom to speak, however, that was what happened, and to Goldeneye's own surprise, it was a sort of apology. "It's fine," he said, shrugging. "I guess we're all going to be tense for awhile," he smiled awkwardly. He couldn't help if he was awkward to be honest, and as much as he wanted to get rid of it, it was always there, just waiting for the weirdest moments to attack him. He seemed to have more problems then he could contain from time to time, and that drove him crazy. However, he had to keep cool, he was deputy. He couldn't panic. Hearing what Fallenstream said next only made the tom blink in surprise. Okay, he hadn't been expecting that. "Y-Yeah," he mumbled, not looking at the other tom. He didn't want to admit his low self-confidence, but then again, who wanted to? It was just fuel to be teasing material, which, of course, never really helped the situation. It had slowly become lower and lower as he got older, and suddenly, when he became deputy, he regained a bit of it. But now, once again, it was slowly dwindling away, which nearly drove Goldeneye crazy. Well, he couldn't be driver crazy. He had to control himself, as difficult that may be. He could manage, he hoped so anyways, not exactly making eye contact with Fallenstream now, feeling too awkward to do so.

Nightshade shook the thoughts away by sniffing for prey. Catching a whiff of mouse, she went into a hunting crouch, and stalked it down. Moments later, she caught sight of the rodent. Gathering her haunches, she sprang and gave it a quick bite to the neck.

Creekstorm let out a nod in amusement as Nightshade catched and killed that mouse. "Nice catch." praised Creekstorm. The tom walked over to the river, starring at the fish in the water. Creekstorm saw a fish swim in front of him, so he unseathed his claws, lifting them into the air. He slammed them down on top of the fish, pulling the slimy body out of the water. Creekstorm gave the fish a quick killing bite.

"You too," she blurted out. She wasn't flirting anymore, that was a genuine complement. She didn't mean to say it, it just slipped out. Her fur turned hot with embarrassment.
