Her smile was revitalizing, and Gorserain suddenly felt the need to say more. But, as her head rested gently on the mossy bed, he remained quiet, and instead enjoyed the peaceful silence that fell over them.
It wasn't long before he began to wonder if Pearldance had truly moved on from Onyxheart. The tom had disappeared without a word some time ago, but there was always the chance he could return someday. And somehow he doubted the queen would forget about him anytime soon.
After a while of musing he spoke again: "Every season or so, a rare white flower grows around the edges of Shadowclan's territory. It's something the medicine cats call a 'night' flower, because they've discovered it only blooms after dusk. -Oddly enough." He tilted his head. "Have you ever been lucky enough to see it?"

Pearldance relished the silence while it lasted. The warmth of the nursery was very soothing as she lay there in the presence of Gorserain. It lasted a good few minutes, she almost found herself drifting off before his voice sparked some energy within her. Her icy hues opened up wide again and her head lifted once more to meet his gaze as she stared at him curiously. With his question, she shook her head, her brows furrowing. How hadn't she heard of that before? Then again, she rarely explored the edges of the territory, she mainly stuck towards the center since she couldn't exactly be threatening towards another clan's patrol. She had no voice to defend herself or question why this other cat was there, provided that was the situation. Suddenly, the she-cat found herself trying to imagine the flower.

“That’s good,” he said, forcing out a purr. He showed no sign that he had taken any notice of the awkward way that the tom spoke, but that certainly wasn’t the case. Cardinalsnake could easily detect the awkward tone of the tom, he might even go as far as to say as the awkwardness was practically radiating off of him. That’s not good, he thought, his whiskers twitching in disapproval, although he had a small smile on his maw so he made it look as if his whiskers were twitching in approval, rather than disapproval. We don’t want an awkward deputy. ShadowClan deserves a deputy that can be confident and easily show that they are better than all the other deputies, he thought darkly. I might as well push Windygale out of his position and take the job myself, maybe then he would learn how he should be acting. If Cardinalsnake had said those words aloud, he would’ve been sneering.

Cardinalsnake caught the embarrassed look that Windygale quickly wiped away, but he too quickly looked away before the tom could see that he had noticed. Perhaps it would be better if he saved the tom from any more embarrassment, else he might become even more awkward. He sniffed and resisted the urge to roll his eyes from his own thoughts.

“That’s good to hear,” he responded, forcing out yet another purr. “It must be hard, having to suddenly switch from the role of warrior to the deputy,” he continued, a genuine smile now rising onto his face. This was where the fun began. “I remember the things that Halfgaze told me about the job. She was my best friend,” he sighed nostalgically, his eyes glancing up at the sky as if though all their memories were held in the clouds that spotted the blue canvas. “I remember when she would come crying to me in the middle of the night, sobbing about how stressed she was. It was horrible to see how much her new role had broken her.” Lies. He let a shudder run through his body to make his act seem more and more believable. He had faked a frightened look in his gaze and he’d let his paws shake a little, making it seem like he could fall apart at any moment. “I hope you don’t have to go through the same thing. It was terrible to see how torn she was and I wouldn’t want to see you going through it too. You can always come and talk to me about it if you are struggling though,” he added sympathetically. His last sentence made it sound as if though it were inevitable that Windygale would fall under the pressure. On the outside his eyes were wide with concern, but on the inside he was smiling wickedly.

Windygale nodded his head, unsure of what to say next. The other feline had let out a purr after his comment, and thankfully, seemed to not have noticed his awkward speech. Or maybe Cardinalsnake had noticed, and didn't bring it up because he'd wanted to spare the deputy's feelings. Even worse, maybe he hated the fact that he was so awkward and didn't bring it up because that would be rude? No, Cardinalsnake was so polite and kind to him. How could that kind tom end up being a bully? It was probably just his imagination again. He knew that he could overthink, and definitely overshare. In fact, his loud mouth had lost him some potential acquaintances before. He hoped that wouldn't happen between him and Cardinalsnake. The tom seemed like a good candidate for a potential friend. He simply had to get to know the other tom. It wasn't about Windygale, it was about Cardinalsnake.

When his gaze had averted, he thought he saw the other feline's orbs dart to the side as well. Maybe he hadn't seen the embarrassment he had tried so hard to hide. Or maybe, as he had thought before, his Clanmate was simply trying to spare his feelings. Once his gaze had returned to the tom, it was like nothing had happened. Hmm.

It almost seemed like the other cat was purring at his every word. A bit strange, though he didn't comment on it. Perhaps the tom was very happy? Of course, he was thinking this before Cardinalsnake started speaking once more. He listened intently, nodding ever so slightly. Yes, the new position took a bit of adjusting to, but he wouldn't call it difficult, exactly. But before he could interject, Cardinalsnake started to talk about Halfgaze. This was when his attention peaked. He'd heard positive things about his predecessor, and wanted to live up to the expectation that the Clan had for her. He listened, on edge, seeing the feline before him recall terrible memories. Windygale was shocked to hear this. He hadn't thought of Halfgaze as... broken, as Cardinalsnake had described her as. His ears automatically flattened, a whole new world of terrifying thoughts entering his mind. 'Oh, if Halfgaze cracked under all f that pressure, how easily would it be for you to snap like a twig? A small, brittle twig.' He couldn't hide the panic in his amber eyes, not until he controlled his raging thoughts. His heartbeat slowed, pupils widedened, and ears perked up once more. He nodded at Cardinalsnake's gracious offer, utterly relieved. "Oh, I hope that it got better for Halfgaze. And I very much appreciate your offer, I do. I'll come to you if I need any help."

Her eyes had closed contently, humming softly as she focused on nothing in particular. Pearcloud wasn’t the one to focus on anything.in particular. Her mind always been fleeting, pretty lax about anything and everything. Sometimes she’d voice her thoughts aloud, to any hear that was willing to listen. She solely believed that mother nature existed, and that it was in the form of some...shape, but she couldn’t figure such out yet. She usually talked to different plants, knowing they’d listen to her ramble, when others failed to pay attention to her. It wasn’t that she wasn’t an interesting she cat, but rather many thought she was delusional, a bit too senseless to keep around.
She paused for a moment, another voice floating into her ears. Before then, she was idly conversing with the wind, giggling softly once again upon her silliness, but she blinked opened her gaze, tilting her head slightly to get a good look at the cat. While she remembered his face, she couldn’t put a name it. Again, her mind was a fleeting one, so she hardly remembered if she approached this tom before. That didn’t mean she was forgetful. Pearcloud always been quite slow in the logical department, and was still virtually getting to know her clan mates.
She smiled, a little brightened than before upon the new company. She thought she had a friend...someone who wanted to talk to her. Even if it was small talk. She squirmed a bit on the grass, her eyes squinting in concern when she heard derision in the tom’s tone. Pearcloud wasn’t the one for confrontation, cowering from violence. It bought unpleasant memories of abuse when she had been a kittypet. However, she blinked once again, her eyes glancing at the dead prey next to her. Was that what he was upset about? Evidently, Pearcloud didn’t want to take him seriously. If it was about the prey she didn’t eat and all…
Pearcloud paused for a moment, rolling onto her stomach, looking up sweetly at the older tom, noticing his limp, pinning her ears to her head slightly. She reached for the prey, locking it between her teeth before she gently pushed it towards him. ‘’You can have it if you want it,’’ She smiled, her voice soft and daydreaming, as if she had been daydreaming. ‘’I thought I was hungry, but I’m not!’’ She giggled softly, pushing the prey closer to him with her nose, clearly wanting him to have it. Suddenly, she pulled back, not wanting to be his direct source of anger - no one’s direct source of anger. ‘’I’m sorry. I don’t mean to cause any harm. Sometimes I do things without thinking...and, I forget that there are consequences...to my actions.’’ She spoke, almost like a kit that was being scolded. She got to her paws slowly, shuffling slightly, peering up at him once before looking down, trying to avoid confrontation.

The smile that the she-cat had flashed him would cause his tail to flick back and forth with mild irritation. Does she think this is a joke? Perhaps I should speak to Goldenstar about her behavior. This is not how a Shadowclan warrior should act. His mind thought with contempt as he stood there, waiting for her answer. But then again, was he really waiting for an answer? Was he waiting for her to do something at all? He had said his two cents, now he wasn't quite sure what he was waiting for. Badgersong was a hard cat to please, especially at this point in his life, and his son Ibisprowl knew that all too well. Perhaps he was looking for an apology from her, though it was likely he wouldn't let her get away that easily.
His scar began to send small claws of pain up his arm from the continued use, so the senior warrior would grunt and sit down, now annoyed at himself for letting the pain get to him. He'd have to talk to Daydream about getting some poppyseeds or something, it was truly beginning to get on his nerves.
Badgersong would blink in mute surprise as she pushed the piece of prey closer to him, as if that's what he had asked for. One would hope that he would be happy about this, have his heart-warmed by the sweet offer, but that was not the case. If anything, he saw it as her trying to please him and get out of trouble. "If you're not hungry then put it back in the pile for someone else to eat." He would say somewhat crossly, watching her draw backwards slightly. However what she said next was taken a bit better by him. Good. She gets it.
"Well then you need to keep in mind that there are consequences. Maybe next time it won't be me scolding at you, but you'll see a hungry apprentice without food while you're playing around with your meal. Or maybe it'll even be Goldenstar revoking your warrior duties and sending you back to live with the apprentice's for a few moons." Focusing his green gaze upon the rodent, he considered taking it back to the pile himself, but figured that would suite her punishment. He didn't want to admit his scar was bothering him too much to move again, even if it was just to the freshkill pile.

"Ah," Nighthowl murmured, unsure of how else to respond. Sure, he had always been the reserved, somber sibling compared to Willowpetal, but he would never have dreamed of biting her toe off! "Did your brother offend you in some way?" Nighthowl asked, twisting around to lap at a tuft of black fur that was sticking up.

"Well not exactly." He said with a grin, licking his paw and drawing it over his ear. He flipped quickly over onto his back and irked his head around at a strange angle to continue the conversation. He face was blank again, and his eyes cool calm and observing. "We were a few days old. 3 or 4 I think." His strange eyes drifted to the side. He looked back st Nighthowl quickly, and blinked. "You see, he kicked me in the face." His eyes drifted again. "Well not exactly in the face, but near my face." He huffed slightly with a smug little grin.

Tigerkit was sitting in the nursery, bored. He wanted to do something about the threat of Nightmare, but he knew it would be useless at this stage. He would have to wait until he was a warrior. He hoped he would lose anyone else to Nightmare.
