He doubted that the tom would attack him in front of a kit, anyway. "Well what was I supposed to think? You're standing near it, and she's fawning over it like she's the mother!" He looked at the she-cat, fur bristling with discomfort as the tom's words stung him like barbed wire. "May as well be yours..." he muttered under his breath, staring at the tiny bundle of fur. "'Less you're gonna find the real mother." Butch crouched down to study the kitten, staring at it with bright yellow eyes.
"Never seen a fluffball come out of nowhere," he commented, pawing at the kitten rather carelessly. He was no father himself, and he definitely didn't have the instincts of a mother. He didn't want to get strung into this weird, shameful family that the tom seemed to want no part of, but he still stared at the kitten as if it were something he'd never seen before.

Spade looked to the two in a bit of disgust. "Well it certainly isn't mine. No matter who it says it's Pa is." He scoffed. He narrowed his eyes asheloked at the kit crying to its 'Mother'. "Winter you can't keep it. It probably has a Ma out here somewhere. You should probably go and find it." he advised. The thought of a mother cat wandering hadn't exactly crossed his mind but this stranger made a good point. He couldn't keep it. It'd be stealing and he didn't want the father of this kit coming to find him all angry and everything. He already had enough to deal with. He watched as the tom played with it. "You seem so dandily fond of it. Why don't you take it and find it's Ma?" he said smirking in the slightest.

"Your right...." Winter said and picked up the kit to find its mom

Butch snorted slightly at his response, surprised with his attitude towards the defenceless... thing. It wasn't what he was expecting, though it seemed as if every cat he bumped into was in a bad mood. He hadn't yet connected the dots... So it must've been their fault and not his, right? The russet tom moved away from the kit, suddenly disinterested. He had the attention span of a fly, his tendency to get bored quickly shown clearly on the surface. Now, he was just annoyed with the squealing, and its insistence on the she-cat being its mother.
Butch's blood boiled at the tom's next statement, and his eyes narrowed at the strange cat. "You take it! Finders keepers," he meowed, dreading the idea of toting a kitten around until they found its mother. He didn't like the way that the tom was so insistent on angering him, especially due to the fact that it was working. He couldn't help it, every little insult was a challenge to his pride. "..Hm. Nevermind..." He watched the nameless she-cat pad away with the kitten, shrugging. She sure moved quickly.

Spade watched Winter leave with the thing, glad for the silence that it left behind. "Great Starclan that thing's loud." He grumbled. He cast a glanced to the reddish tom. With a smirk, realizing the tom had thought he was being real. "I wouldn't exactly wish that little firecracker of a cat on anyone. Carrying that thing around just brings hunger because it scares off all the prey." He mused. A twinkle of amusement flickered in his brown gaze. "Hence why I ain't keepin' it." He stated more so on the blunt side of things. "Two things in life I enjoy: Eating and sleeping. That thing takes both of those away."

"Yeah, tell me about it... Whatever a StarClan is," he mumbled, tail twitching slightly as he'd noticed the smarmy expression on the nameless tom's face. Well, the look wasn't much of a warning. Butch had expected for him to have another go at him, but he wasn't met with a challenging response. The collared cat simply shrugged in response, glad that the bundle of fur would be farther away now. As he continued to speak, the russet cat widened his eyes in surprise. Well... That was something he'd never thought of before. Kittens were loud enough to scare off prey... Well, and be noticed by predators. What would a wild cat's mother do to feed and protect their kitten?
Unknowingly, a befuddled look had already crossed the young tom's face as he became lost in his own thoughts, the amount of expressions he was pulling were rather ridiculous. Snapping out of his trance, he simply blinked and shot a quick; "Uh, sure," before getting his bearings straight again. "...Who are you?" Butch was barely even aware that there was no real follow-up to that question, though he certainly wouldn't care if he knew. "Have you two been... Dating?"
