desire shook her head, responding with, "no, it's completely fine." she added a "thank you" afterwards, realizing that it was rude not to. the female rested the bag of crystal-looking ice on her leg, relishing the coldness it gifted her. desire was always one to love the cold, and ice was one of the things she was most fond of; it granted her coldness & healed her at the same time, which was quite an accomplishment. desire's stomach growled and the female's face turned a light, pale shade of cerise. most of the time, desire flamingo violetgarden did not get embarrassed, since she didn't quite care what others thought of her nor her reputation, but her brother was one of the few who caused her to actually care about what she did. the female knew she should probably rethink that thought, however. "you don't have to go out and get food. you might get attacked by some, i don't know, laestrygonians. it's dangerous out there, and we can't use cellphones because with those everything goes wrong." just then her stomach grumbled again defiantly, contradicting what she'd just said. the female tried to cover it up by talking over it, but desire knew aadam had heard her stomach growl. seriously, stomach. of all the times you could've grumbled! but no, it had to be now. ugh.

Aadam seemed to relax when he heard her thank you, glad that the ice pack would suffice for now. He was not quite intent with her answer about food though, but he did not have a chance to protest becuse he saw her face turn red in embarrassment as her stomach growled loudly. Aadam smiled, amusement showing clearly his face."Your stomach says otherwise." Aadam informed his sister, standing up. "I can fight off a few laestrygonians anyways. I already had a warm up today fighting the empousa." He told his sister jokingly. Honestly, he would like to avoid fighting for the rest of the day, but he doubted that laestrygonians would attack him on his way to Mcdonalds and back. If anything did attack him, there would probably only be one or two since they wee not yet aware he was there. Aadam was not sure if killing the empousa had changed that yet or not, but surely he would be able to get to McDonalds and back without getting killed. He had done it millions of times. "So do you want a burger or chicken nuggets?" Aadam asked Desire.

"chicken nuggies," desire replied, grinning. "oh, and by the way, that stomach growl totally didn't happen, y'know?" she said, winking at her brother. the female listened interestedly as he spoke to her, then tilted her head. "i know you can fight them off. you're strong and educated. but i dont want you to waste your time, energy, and potentially get a minor or large injury from unnecessary fighting," she responded after a moment of thinking. waiting for aadam to reply to her, desire flamingo poked at the bag of ice self-consciously. the crispness on her fingertips refreshed desire. the female was about to ask aadam if he wanted her to tag along, but after a split second realized that she would only slow him down and be a burden because of her recent injury. darn empousa. the second they get back from tartarus, i will hunt them and cause them a painful death. after thinking that thought over, she realized that maybe her train of thought was one of the reasons her companions at camp thought she was a daughter of nemesis. she did, in fact, love revenge.

As Desire changed the subjects back to monsters though, he answered, not sounding to concerned."It should be fine. The restaurant is not that far away, and monsters have never attacked me before on my way there." Aadam told her. After thinking about it though, he remembered a few weaker monsters attacking him, but never anything that dangerous. "good to know. just make sure you don't get hurt," desire responded, worry glistening in her golden-amber colored eyes as she looked up at her brother. "oh, and make sure you get me a drink, too, while you're at it. i'll pay you back," desire added, grinning. "thank you!" the female called out as aadam headed out the door and into the mortal city. quietly she poked the bag of crystal-looking ice. she moved it for a second off of her wound and quickly her wound began to sting, so desire put the ice back to cool off her wound. "stupid empousa with their stupid claws or whatever those things are. i didn't memorize empousa anatomy." she muttered to herself in annoyance, patting the other couch seat besides her, reminding desire of the loneliness she often felt during these previous days in the mortal world. must be nice being an ignorant mortal. i was once like them, too. 'til i found out i was a half-blood. desire thought to herself.

'oh, i'm hungry? what if aadam gets killed and i starve to death?'. yeah. not the best set of thoughts in the world. desire poked at the ice and tried her best to keep her mind blank, looking around the house to check if there was a clock to check the time. noticeably, desire wasn't the best at keeping track of time, and usually she didn't need to; at camp half-blood, there was usually so many activities to choose from, she wasn't left alone with only her mind and a pack of ice to entertain her. mortals were lucky. they always had some of their mortal phones and televisions to keep them busy. whenever desire or any other half-blood attempted to use them, they would go haywire, and also tell monsters that their meal was ready for them.

Aadam walked along the sidewalk, not seeing many people until he got to the part of town that had the shops and restaurants, which was just a minute or two away from his house. He kept going over the order in his head, not wanting to forget the order. He repeated it to himself one last time before going into the fast food restaurant, waiting in line for a second before it was his turn. Aadam repeated what he had been telling himself on the way here. A twenty piece chicken nugget, A hamburger, Two large fries, and Two Pepsi's. He was pretty sure Desire still liked Pepsi, unless her taste buds had changed in the time he had not seen her.
Aadam took the bag offered to him and payed the lady for the food, getting a few dollars back in change. He held the bag tightly,not wanting it to fall and its contents to spill everywhere, and started heading back to the apartment, glancing around for any signs of a monster every few seconds.He hoped Desire would still be there when he arrived.
