Violetshade narrowed her icy blue eyes in concentration as she quietly observed a frog just waiting to be caught, oblivious to the she-cat observing her not too far away. This was an unusual sight to be seen since around others Violetshade was usually daydreaming or chirping about some nonsense. The siamese she-cat skillfully crept up on the amphibian and when she was close enough to pounce on it. She successfully caught the frog off guard and swiftly killed it with one bite. Feeling satisfied with her catch she let out a purr of satisfaction. She finally looked up and spotted another she-cat not too far away from her causing her to stiffen and all the she-cat could think was, Foxdung I've been caught!

The mollies ears pricked, seeing the other look up at her. Her eyes narrowed slightly, seeing the dead frog lazily dropped onto the ground. Seathorn shook her fur, sea green orbs scanning the other up and down. "Haven't seen you like this before." She meowed, bushy tail wrapping around her hind paw.

He was tired, he was exhausted from his shock in the stream but he needed to reassure her even if he wasn't completely sure he was gonna be alright. "Tufty... We've gone over this multiple times, its not your fault. I can literally feel the guilt rippling off your fur." It happened every time he got into trouble and he felt kind of bad for putting Tuftbreeze in the position to even feel guilty. He had calmed down her strategy of distracting him from his ordeal having helped greatly in getting the black tom to relax. He started slowly to return Tuftbreeze's licks before nudging her gently with his muzzle. "Do you itch? And where?," he said while raising his head even higher to reach behind her ears, the space he knew she couldn't get. It was a relaxing and calming thing to do, sharing tongues with his clanmate and he let out a purr again, his fear of water forgotten for now. He kept on grooming her not knowing when the fur was clean and had - unknowingly - stuck to the same spot his entire time.
|
Tuftbreeze sighed and leaned into Ravenvine, guilt momentarily disappearing as she closed her eyes and breathed in the tom's scent. She could feel the vibrations of his purring from where she'd buried her head in his chest, and the feeling was more comforting than anything she'd ever known. She didn't answer for a moment, not sure how to respond. "I know you don't blame me, Rave," she finally settled on a response that both reassured the tom and wasn't a lie. She couldn't simply say that she knew, or that she agreed, because she didn't. Tuftbreeze did blame herself. Lifting her head at the tom's nudge, before tilting to the side and answering, "Here, on the side of my neck." Rather than licking her neck, however, Ravenvine began to lap at her ears. She didn't complain, knowing that he was still reaching someplace that she wouldn't be able to. Besides, she could scratch at her neck once the tom was done grooming. That is, if she was still awake by the time he finished. Already she was becoming drowsy, eyes slipping closed with the rhythmic, lulling licks.

"As nice as it sounds to just lay back and relax, I can't help but feel as though I'd go a little crazy doing that. I always feel the need to be doing something productive." She chuckled. "At least with going on walks I can hunt along the way." Even when she was younger, she needed things to do. Albeit being shy and timid at such an early age, she enjoyed playing with her brother and chasing the nifty toys that they had made with moss and leaves.
"Yeah.. As I said, he always was on the shy side like me." She offered a small smile at the thought of how quiet her brother was. He used to hide behind their mother when they were kits and couldn't stand up for his poor sister, let alone himself. It never bothered Duskwing much, seeing as they were still able to confide in each other back then. "Slowly but surely.." The molly hummed, thoughts of her brother's overall improvement flooding her head. He was getting better, but it was still going to take some time.
"Stern Sunmist?" Duskwing eyed Sunmist over and snorted out loud. "I'd love to see that." As the tom questioned her gathering situation, she felt her fur heat up with embarrassment. "You do? ..Well. I suppose it's only fair since you told yours." She thought back to the day it happened and cringed. "It was my first gathering.. I had been a fairly new apprentice at the time along with my brother. I remember going with him and a couple other apprentices with all of our mentors." She paused, trying to recall the exact details. "This Thunderclan apprentice walked up to me and started insulting our clan. I still don't know why he was pestering me specifically about it-- must have thought he was some big-shot or whatever."
With an amused eyeroll, Duskwing continued. "Anyways, it got to the point where he made a comment about how Shadowclan was full of cowards and mousebrains. He tried to drag my brother into it and something just.. I don't know.. Set me off? I tackled him and we started tumbling around before the gathering had officially started. We were pulled away from each other and I got stuck with changing the Elders' nests for most of my apprentice-hood as punishment. It was the first time I ever stood up for anyone, including myself." Memories came racing back, the image of two angry apprentices rolling around like a tumbleweed and batting at each other had been.. Pretty funny now that she thought about it. It was like watching two kits fight over who got to be the leader and the deputy during playtime. "I, uh, ended up really embarrassing everyone there." She broke into a fit of laughter at the end of her story, the shame from it washing away. It had been such a petty fight that even she could laugh at it.
|
At Duskwing's statement, the tom blinked in surprise - she had just said something Sunmist himself had voiced to others time and time again. It was actually exactly how he felt regarding work, and he eyed her for a moment curiously. "Well, we're more alike than I thought! I'm the same way... I need something to keep my paws busy. Relaxation is basically just a fantasy to me," an amused snort accompanied his words, and he shook his head. "Honestly, even when I'm an elder I don't see myself resting. I'm bound to find one thing or another to work on."
Returning the molly's smile, Sunmist thought back to how he and his littermate had been when they were young. "I wasn't shy back then - though I wouldn't call myself shy now, either. Just quieter. I was much louder as an apprentice. Lightpaw wasn't shy, either, really outgoing actually. Neither of us would back away from a challenge." His whiskers twitched at fond memories of friendly sibling competitions. Lightpaw had really been Sunmist's best friend. As much as he missed her now, he was still grateful that he had any time at all with the she-cat. Mind coming back to the present, he gave a short nod towards Duskwing. He was sure that, eventually, her brother would be in a much better mental state.
"Oh, trust me," Sunmist puffed his chest out in an exaggerated, show-off way. "I can be very stern." Pausing for a moment of thought, the tom continued. "When I decided to change from that arrogant apprentice into a more responsible warrior, I definitely went too far in the other extreme to start with. For a while, I was no fun to be around at all. Way too stern." He gave a soft chuckle, thinking of how he truly had changed so much over the moons. From a rambunctious kit, to a rambunctious and arrogant apprentice, then a strict young warrior, and now a reasonably responsible one who knows how to have a bit of fun now and then. I wonder if I'll come full circle in my elderhood and become the party elder. His thoughts made him laugh, and he shook his head before dismissing the thought. "Oh, you don't have to if you don't want to!" The tom rushed to reassure Duskwing, but fell silent as he waited for the story.
Sunmist grinned at the end of the story. "Sounds like you were just being a good littermate to me." He laughed along with her for a moment. "I have to ask - before you got pulled apart, who was winning? The punishment is almost worth it, if you showed that Thunderclan mousebrain that his clan isn't as good as he thought." Another grin spread across his maw before a thought occurred to him. "Most toms - especially young ones - try to rile up mollies because he thinks she's pretty. Stupid way to try and get their attention, I know. But that's probably why he was so set on taunting you." Sunmist hadn't ever taken to trying to start a fight in order to get a molly's attention, but his boasting was certainly his way to try and get pretty she-cats to like him. Obviously that tactic hadn't worked; he gave it up after his incident at his first Gathering.

Rabbitpaw slowly lifted his head. “I- I guess..” He muttered, getting to his paws. He still didn’t completely trust her, but he figured it was better then being alone. “Uhm...” He shook his pelt, staggering a bit. He was still a bit shaken from waking up and hearing the screeches and yowls of his clan mates. I hope it ends soon..

Violetshade hissed curses under her breath there was no point in pretending at this point she was already caught. She quickly eyed the tortoiseshell up and down and quickly recognized her as the she-cat who would often get angry if things weren't perfect. The siamese she-cat prodded the dead frog with a dainty paw, "I suppose not. Does this shock you?" She mewed in her normal voice as she indifferently glancing at her.

Cinder'Paw looked at her paws before mumbling."I-I hope that my family is okay..".She accidentally spoke her thoughts.

The black tom looked at her. “I- I think they’ll be alright..” He flicked his tail. “I- I mean-” He gasped. “N-no one is really uh- okay right now, b-b-but I’m sure your family will uh- survive.” Rabbitpaw didn’t really know how to comfort anyone, but he still tried his best.

Cinder'Paw looked at him and sighed before flashing a small smile."Yeah...I hope so..". She stared at the black Tom for a little before she spoke softly."I'm Cinder'Paw by the way...". Her grey and white speckled pelt was a bit dusty from falling over as her multicoloured blue and Hazel eyes gazed at the Tom.

He smiled. “I’m Rabbitpaw.. Nice to meet you.” Rabbitpaw sat up, purring a little.

"It's Nice to meet you too,Rabbit'Paw". She said softly as she tested out the name, curled her tail around her paws as she sat down.
