The she cat's eyes gleamed with amusement at his stutter, however at first she didn't mention it. She took another daring step in his direction looking him over a few times
"would you like to eat it hm? pull it out of the dirtplace and eat it yourself hm?" she snapped tail whisking behind her "Who are you? thinking you could talk to me?" she added suddenly sitting down right in front of him, the interest and annoyance in her gaze enough to cut through ice.
Galekit was rather taken aback by her hostile, bitter tone. How had asking a question offended her so much? He pondered a second before coming to the conclusion that she was probably annoyed before he had approached her and was simply taking it out on him because he was foolish enough to approach her in such a foul mood. However, the small grey apprentice was used to such treatment and anger; his mother made sure of that since he was a young kit.
"N-no," Galekit replied, his eyes wide. He retreated a pace and broke his gaze away from hers. "I-I'm sorry for-for bothering y-y-you..." His sentence trailed off as he studied the ground beneath his paws with baleful eyes. His ear twitched as he heard her ask who he was. Deciding it was best to answer and not to ignore the she-cat, Galekit took a deep breath. "I'm Gale-p-p-paw... who a-are you?" He flinched inwardly, hoping she wouldn't get angry at him for asking, or for not knowing her name.

[I'm sorry this is so late ;-; ]

"Ouch!" The feline mumbled under his breath as his outstretched his leg, a prominent 'CRACK' sounding from his joints. Frostflight was so sore... so incredibly sore! He never thought that having an apprentice could take all the energy out of him, but maybe that's why older warriors seemed so grumpy. Either way, Frostflight was just glad to be back in camp. He'd have a meal, give himself a little spruce up, and try to catch an early night. Pacing over to the fresh-kill pile, the silver feline would settle on a smaller trout and carry it back to his spot, the fish clamped tight between his jaws. Settling himself down, Frostflight placed the prey on the ground ready to tuck into his meal, but what was dinner without company? Raising his icy gaze to scan the camp, he decided on someone who may have been close by, Roachfoot. Frostflight didn't know him too well, but he knew of him... "Hey!" He called, "Would you like to come share this with me?"

Snailriver staggered with the weight of Mintflower but then an idea sparked in the white tom's head. Standing up, with Mintflower still on back, he started staggering and his smirk became even larger as he heard the running of the river close by. This would have to work. Walking unsteadily he arrived at the river bed and turned hastily at the edge, laughing when he felt Mint slip off his back and into the water. It had been cold lately, colder than the Riverclan cats were used to and with the rain she would be miserable. He hoped so at least. Finding a new spot the formerly white tom - now brown - laid down and watched the molly with an amused smirk on his face. The rain would soon clean the mud off of his fur. He hoped so at least.

[Hush, it's perfect! <33]
Mintflower could only laugh as Snailriver picked her up, the she-cat finding it hilarious how much he struggled to carry her. Too busy laughing at the whole situation, she was completely unaware of the fact he was bringing her to the river. By the time she did realise, it was much too late to do anything. The creamy she-cat quickly found herself completely submerged in the water, the usual blue turned a murky brown as a result of the bad weather - so much so that Mintflower couldn't see a thing beneath the depths. The water was unusually cold, bordering on freezing with the temperature drop brought on by the rain. She fought against the current and quickly emerged from the water's depths, clinging onto the side of the riverbank. Piercing blue eyes looked straight at Snailriver, at first filled with rage and annoyance before they returned to a more competitive and playful stare. She was completely and utterly soaked, and not to mention covered in mud. She hated being dirty, but she also hated being outsmarted a whole lot more. But Snailriver would not dampen her determination, a point made very clear as the stubby-legged she-cat ambled over to his side once more, eying the larger tom up. She smirked, batting her eyelids at him in mock flirtatiousness - or was she actually being serious? She couldn't tell anymore. "Come on, Snail, don't be such a sour kitty," She whined, dragging her tail along his chin as she walked away from him. "You can pretend not to like me all you want, but it's obvious you want my company! I'm a pretty kitty, Snail, it'd be a shame to pass up the opportunity to spend time with me, don't you think?"

|| I'm hopeless... I ship them too hard. God why can't I have a relationship that isn't romantic? xD I guess I have to make up for the lack of romance in my own life ||

The white and ginger tom stared annoyed at the she-cat. "Why would I like to spend time with you? You're the one who came up and started bothering you. When did you ever got the idea that I wanted to spend TIME with you?" his voice was gruff and annoyed. His amusement and smirk was gone to be replaced with no emotion in his amber and blue gaze. His tail twitched slowly, flicking back and forth and he sat up from his sitting position. "You calling yourself pretty, aren't you arrogant enough?" his voice was curious. The annoyance left him as easy as it came from the amusement. It was one of the weird things about Snailriver... the fact that his moods indeed did change so easily - from plain annoyance to curiosity, from anger to amusement - it was confusing. You think you know him and he changes and you don't recognize the cat you just talked to. He padded toward the river looking back at Mintflower. "The water was cold wasn't it?" He plodded into it and swam strongly for a few seconds before heaving himself up again and padded toward the molly. He then flopped directly over her, crushing her to the ground with his drenched coat. "Enjoying this are you?"

It was bittersweet to think that only a few moons ago, he'd been a kit with high hopes for his apprenticeship, an apprenticeship that'd train him to be a self-sufficient and skilled warrior... and yet, he was reduced to this. This being mindlessly reinforcing the reedy walls of the camp to ensure they endured another season's weather-beating, not out exploring or hunting or practicing battle moves. The thought of that made his stomach flip uneasily after the recent loss of his mentor, and Fawnpaw was glad he hadn't been assigned a replacement. Maybe idle construction work was exactly what he needed. Light busy-work labor that let his mind rest.

However, the tranquility didn't last as Fawnpaw weaved in the next reed into the barrier and backed up as he had so many times before, ready to collect the next one. It just so happened that his back end collided with something solid, causing him to spin around with a startled, squeaky hiss. And oh.

Oh.

Fawnpaw's eyes widened, his pulse jammed in his throat. He took a couple staggering steps backward. He was pretty sure it was Frostflight, or something similar-- a warrior he'd seen around and admired for his upbeat, captivating attitude. But gods above, this wasn't how he'd wanted to meet him, this was probably one of the worst things that could've happened... and now, Frostflight was going to hate him forever. Yep, that was the only plausible end to this, made even worse by the fact he was staring like a total mousebrain and hadn't uttered a word--

In his panic, he forced out, "Sorry, I'm-- ...yeah, sorry. It's just, I... I wasn't watching. I didn't see that you were there." Fawnpaw wanted to exasperatedly face-paw. This was a catastrophic failure of an interaction. "I was kind of, uh, caught up in my thoughts." He ended that by clearing his throat and doing an awkward side-step to hopefully escape from this situation, but it was no such luck as he tripped over his pile of reeds. Although he managed to catch himself a second before hitting the ground in an ungraceful flop, the reeds were now scattered everywhere.

@Dust

Admittedly, Frostflight hadn't been too surprised to feel contact against his pelt. It happened all the time - mostly due to his larger frame. It was only embarrassing when the collision was his fault, but the impact had barely moved him from where he was standing. Clearly this wasn't meant to be on purpose. "Oh!" He said simply, turning quickly to finally see what, or rather who, had bumped into him. Lo and behold Fawnpaw, someone that Frostflight didn't quite know but had seen around camp before. Stuck on wall duty no less! Now that was a chore that Frostflight despised and he couldn't help but flash a sympathetic look to the other. Though the sudden burst of apology from Fawnpaw left the warrior more surprised that than the actual impact. "Oh, no it's alright," He purred in half-amusement, "No harm, no foul." His words had meant to be encouraging, but as Frostflight looked over the apprentice he couldn't help but notice their disheveled and, well... nervous expression. Am I really that scary looking? Or am I reading this wrong? "Really, it's-" But Frostflight cut himself off as he watched Fawnpaw unceremoniously scramble on the reeds they had been using to reinforce the wall. It was hard to stifle the amused giggles that found their way from his maw, but with a nonchalant flick of his tail Frostflight made his way over to the scattered reeds, clamping a few between his teeth. "Let me help." His meow wasmuffled by the plants, though he was able to cast a friendly smile towards Fawnpaw. In a way, he felt responsible for the, quite literally, slip up. The most he could do was help out!

As he straightened himself to steady paws again, he heard the chuckling from Frostflight and couldn't find it in himself to feel anything but mildly humiliated, his pelt heating under the other's gaze but a small smile touched his muzzle. At least his antics had brought cheer to another cat's day, he figured that should count for something despite its status as a minimal achievement. It was a relief that Frostflight didn't appear upset with the interruption, not that there was much he could've done to voice his complaints when he didn't have a mentor to confront, but his easy attitude alone was enough to take the edge off of Fawnpaw's anxiety. The interaction was still a wreck so far, but the possibility of salvaging it seemed obtainable if he managed this with some semblance of social grace - that might've been too optimistic.

"Wait, seriously? Are you sure?" he asked, the stunned question spilling from him as he cocked his head in confusion. "You.. don't have to, I can take care of it." But Frostflight was already beginning to gather reeds, so Fawnpaw scrambled to do the same, assuming that standing there cluelessly wouldn't help anybody. Although hesitant, he trekked after to align the reeds into the wall, mind racing with variations of 'how is this possible' and berating himself such a blunder. "It's not that I'm ungrateful or anything," he amended to clarify before leaning down to grab another set of reeds, "but I thought, maybe... you'd have better things to do? Being a warrior and all. I'm guessing fixing up the camp barriers really isn't high on the list of adventures... or, um, heroics.. that you guys partake in." He finished lamely, not entirely certain what being a warrior entailed since his training was lacking - at best.

"Mmhmm.." He hummed softly to reassure Fawnpaw that he would indeed help with the chore. His gaze was momentarily transfixed on a single strand of reed that he had begun to sloppily weave into the camp wall. As he finished he gave an annoyed squint at his shoddy craftsmanship, though it melted away as he glanced at the other feline. "Well, I finished up with my apprentice for the day - so no, I technically don't have anywhere to be. Fixing the wall needs to be done... even as a warrior." Frostflight groaned, tilting his head back in over-dramatic exasperation. "Yet somehow I still hate it as much as I did when I was an apprentice," Which in retrospect hadn't been all that long ago! It was crazy how fast things seemed to turn for him - to think that just over a few moons ago he would have been so isolated and withdrawn. "Plus, it looked like you needed a bit of help," He meowed in amusement, prodding a paw playfully in Fawnpaw's direction, "I always preferred to have company when doing chores like this, even if we never did talk. Why are you working on this by yourself anyway? No training? " Curiosity tinged his voice and he propped himself up onto his hind quarters, once again weaving another strand into the wall with great difficulty.

Curiosity struck as Frostflight mentioned his own apprentice. "You're training one? How… how is that going? What do you guys do?" It was almost difficult, deciding what to ask since his own training was unique in that Leopardshine seemingly had no interest in him except as a prop, or when he'd attempted to sacrifice him. Realizing he'd forgotten about the wall in the midst of his cognitions, Fawnpaw scrambled back to work and weaved in another reed with precision, surveying the placement before moving on. "When you were an apprentice?" Fawnpaw mused through a daydreaming murmur, mostly to himself as he thought about that, the passage of time an odd concept that was still foreign to him. "Jeez, that must've been—" And thankfully, he had enough sense to cut off his mental math since it occurred to him that it might be offensive, but not without a sheepish grin and a mumbled albeit hurried apology. "Uh. Anyway, yeah. Thanks. I kind of did. Need help, that is." Inhaling, he tensed as the subject of his training arose, and he willed himself to stay calm about this. "Well, not quite— it's just that, my mentor… sort of…" as he spoke, he pawed at the ground, searching for the right words, "died. Leopardshine was training me, and Fallenstar hasn't appointed anyone else. I haven't asked him to, it's— weird, moving on like that." He didn't know how else to describe it but was once again submerged in his own thoughts, barely making progress on the task itself.
