The river was too cold to swim in or fish... he slipped on everything when he ran - not to mention his short coat! "The only thing leaf-bare is good for is snuggling." His meow was gentle, filled with humor though he really did dislike it. Twitching his ears at the sound of an owl, the warrior kept his stride steady and focused, careful not to lead them towards the border or into the river by accident. That wouldn't be fun to explain why they'd both be soaked... or scratched up by a nighttime patrol. Relax... it's a walk. The thought comforted him, his body relaxing slowly and visibly. Frost couldn't help it. As much as their walk was pleasant, after hearing about Fawn's close run-in with death, Frostflight couldn't help but be extra protective. Plus.. he had mentioned that he no longer had mentor... and despite how awful Fawn's mentor had been to him, no mentor meant no training... and no training meant Frost was the most experienced feline here. That was a scary thought!

Fawnpaw's cough seemed to pull Frostflight from whatever worry he had been too focused on, his head tilted in curiosity. "Wha-?" He almost meowed, though quickly the question processed through his brain. "Oh!" A short and sweet moment of recognition! "It's uhm.. well... going slow." The tom admitted with slight embarrassment. "Not much had changed since we last spoke. I haven't been able to take Ravenpaw out to do anything because I just can't find her! I suppose she's being pulled away by chores around camp or other warriors. Weird as it is... I wouldn't doubt it. Maybe she's avoiding me?" His hushed voice was thick with worry as he cast a hesitant glance to the side. "I know our first session wasn't super exciting, but you don't think that would be why? Right?"
A glittering of amusement twinkled in Fawnpaw’s gaze at that, and he replied, “Every season is good for snuggling.” Not that it was an activity he partook in, regretfully. It was a product of his circumstances, being an apprentice and …well, mostly having nobody to do that with, no matter how much he tried to sugarcoat it. It was strange how loneliness had started to seep into him, the death of a mentor (who never provided much company to begin with) drawing his attention to the hole he’d never realized was there before. Curiosity twinged at him as he looked to Frostflight, examining him, wondering… Maybe it wasn’t such an isolated feeling, and he found himself on the tip of asking if Frostflight had ever experienced the same. But he swallowed it down again, losing his nerve after deeming it too personal.

“That’s okay,” he reassured upon being told their training was slow and catching the hint of embarrassment that tagged alongside the admission, “I don’t think there’s a time limit or anything.” Though, an apprentice of more than fifteen moons might start raising some eyebrows of the clanmates as they wondered why training had been dragged out so long. However, he stiffened when Frostflight added that he couldn’t even find his apprentice, somewhat alarmed by that. “Wow, yeah.. that is kind of weird, but I don’t think she’d be avoiding you. I guess I don’t know her, but I…” he kicked his paw along a tuft of grass to mumble, “you seem pretty nice and everything.” It didn’t make sense, but Fawnpaw lacked the information to do more than speculate.

Ears tilting forward, Fawnpaw asked skeptically, “Wait, you.. think it might be because the session wasn’t exciting? What sort of extreme thrill-seeking.. daredevil apprentice did you even get?” He was as flabbergasted as he sounded, the words sputtering out until he was silenced by his own stream of thoughts. “Maybe when you see her again, you could just ask her. I don’t know.” A small, semi-sad laugh. “Sorry, that probably wasn’t helpful.”

Clouddash nodded in encouragement, "Good. Let's go find some prey then." He mewed before continuing walking. However, he was much more alert and quiet now waiting for the slightest sounds to indicate prey.

Kestrelpaw hurried after Clouddash, padding along behind him. Looking around at the territory, noticing how alert his mentor was, he tried to do the same.

I don’t know.” A small, semi-sad laugh. “Sorry, that probably wasn’t helpful.”
The warriors attempt to stifle a bout of hushed giggles proved fruitless as it echoed throughout the darkened forest. He didn't know why Fawnpaw's comment tickled him so much, but he had found it amusing nonetheless. "Well, I'm glad someone thinks that," He commented, his eyes shining against the darkness as a soft smile played on his maw, having quickly gotten over the worry of Ravenpaw. Who knew... maybe Frostflight wasn't doing all he could. A spark of determination ignited in his belly. Maybe Ravenpaw didn't like him, but he'd try his absolute best to train her into a strong and considerate warrior! "I was absolutely awful as an apprentice." His meow was curt and for a moment Frostflight was lost in thought from the old demons creeping in the depths of his mind, but a simple shake of his pelt did the trick to pull him back to reality.

"That's not a bad idea, I don't know if I'll straight out ask her. But I could try and test the waters? See if I can figure out more than just what I've seen." Yeah, that could work! While Ravenpaw had seemed a bit detached from their training, maybe Frost wasn't looking at the big picture? Maybe she had a bad day! Either way he would reflect on it later. As the pair came to a thicker part of the woods, Frostflight lifted his tail in a motion for the other to stop. "This is about as far as I usually go, would you like to turn around and head back towards camp?"

Glossing over the amusement to instead be concerned his perspective was the odd one out, he inquired, “Wait, do… are there cats that don’t think that? I never met anyone who’s said otherwise.” Not that he talked to many, but Frostflight seemed generally acknowledged around the clan as a source of charisma and friendliness, and ‘nice’ seemed like a catch-all term to describe him. It was a little bland, but nevertheless accurate since Fawnpaw couldn’t imagine him having a mean bone in his body. Biting down a chuckle at the mere thought of Frostflight being a troublemaker, he mumbled, “Yeah? I’m sure you were terribly unruly, accidentally bumping into a stick one time and not even apologizing to it. It’s wild that Fallenstar didn’t assign you to four extra moons of training for that oversight.” Fawnpaw’s jaw worked as he fell silent, sighing upon the realization that sarcasm probably wasn’t a good look on him; he dropped it in favor of a skeptical glance, pondering if Frostflight would elaborate on how he was ‘absolutely awful’, but he wasn’t going to push the topic.

“Oh, uh, good luck,” he said once his plan regarding Ravenpaw’s disinterest was shared, “I hope things get better for you guys..” Trailing off, he was more intrigued by the stretch of territory before them that seemed more dense than what they’d walked through, perhaps a less explored area. “Is it dangerous?” he asked, gaze transfixed on the expanse before them as he took a tentative step closer, head lowering in interest. However, he reared back as there was a nearby shuffling within the undergrowth, and his ears flicked forward fast enough to get whiplash. His signature curiosity lapping at him, he meowed, “I wonder what that was.”

@Starfall

The ebony Tom gave the other a side glance, brow quirked “For you? How to contain your ego.” the leader quipped, shaking his head in amused exasperation as he strode on. He got no tips on how he was supposed to behave as a deputy, he figured Lionstorm wouldn’t mind one or two, and he never got the chance with Daisyshade...more like, at the time when she was new to the position, he didn’t care. “I’ll officially start this off by saying. You’re still a warrior, you still go on patrols and hunt and provide for your clan. Same as me, I’m still a warrior.” he paused. “Don’t let it get to your head, is what I’m trying to say.” at that point Fallenstar has stopped and was looking at the deputy, a rather contorted expression plastered on his face. There was much more the ebony Tom wanted to say, more details he wanted to give. He just wasn’t able to force the words out quite the way he wanted.

It was perfect for a walk. Sunny, yet with a slight breeze. He had been so busy helping rebuild the camp he hadn't noticed how cut up his paws were. Of course he wasn't out here strolling about by choice, he got nagged by Cedarsprint, Lionstorm and even Shiverpetal. So on this sunny day, with the perfect conditions for a stroll, Riverclan's leader was grumpling and stomping through the territory.

It seemed as though the territory borders were still a hot spot for interesting felines. He stumbled upon yet another feline. He squinted his eyes, flattened his ears, and let out a drawn out sigh as he walked towards the tom. However, as he got closer he noticed the Kits he brought with him. Was this what other's would call worry? His stomach did a flip. "Kits aren't allowed outside of the camp." he said once he was close enough to give him and the kits a good look.
(I think you misunderstood me. I meant his mate is in Riverclan and is expecting hos kits and he wants to be with his mate and unborn kits)

|| @Troutleap124 ||

The dark grey tom ran after his mentor and as Troutleap came to an immediate stop by the river bank Hurricanepaw had no time to react and the grey and silver tom could only watch in dismay as he came closer and closer to the bank and then, managing to dig his claws in at the last moment stopped but his balance was wrong - most having been forced onto his front and he went toppling into the water. The apprentice had learned to swim from when he was young of course - most riverclan cats did - but it was still a shock to suddenly feel the cold of the river and the pressure against his own fur. Shaking - mostly from the shock - the grey tom managed to drag himself onto the bank and looked at Troutleap with his orange gaze.

"I'm... sorry. I guess there won't be any fish around." The apprentice looked down at his paws in shame. It was so typical of him to make a flounder of himself by not managing to stop in time. His long ears were heavy and he kept tipping his good ear back and forth. It fit that they had put him with a she-cat who had lost hearing on her ear as well - although Hurricane hadn't lost his hearing he did have one completely shredded ear and was incredibly sensitive when it came to sounds. "I think we need to go somewhere that I won't fall in.

Though Fawnpaw may have found their sarcasm to be, for lack of a better word, distasteful, Frostflight felt the corners of his mouth twitch up into a cheeky grin. "How'd you know?" He teased gently, though he gave an internal sigh of relief at the realization that others, or at least Fawnpaw, hadn't remembered (or met) him at his absolute worst. He may have been slightly distracted as he watched the apprentice bound ahead of him, stopping to gave into the dark expanse of forest. Perhaps he should share some information about himself? I mean, not to be weird, but beyond their clan loyalties, Frostflight didn't know a whole lot about Fawnpaw, and in turn he assumed Fawnpaw didn't know much of anything about him. His mouth dropped slightly as though he was about to mention something, but at the sudden rearing back of Fawn and the semi-distant sound of something scurrying through the undergrowth, Frostflight gave a small jump of surprise. As quickly as he had been distracted, the warrior's demeanor completely changed as he stealthily rushed forward to Fawnpaw's side. Ears pressed as far forward as the could go and with his claws unsheathed into the marshy soil, Frostflight lowered his voice to whisper to the other. "No, it's not too dangerous, but we should be careful." All thoughts of turning back were off the table. His curiosity was getting the better of him. Had Fawn heard the noise as well? Well, duh! Frost had reacted to his reaction... "Do you want to see what it is?" His voice was barely a breathy whisper as he turned his gaze downwards to take note of the apprentice's response.

Too curious about what laid in the beyond and still recovering from his momentary adrenaline rush, Fawnpaw hadn’t realized Frostflight had crept to his side again in what seemed like the blink of an eye, so he jumped as his whisper resounded from next to him. “Stars above,” he mildly cursed in exasperation with himself, wishing he wasn’t so easily startled when distracted. “I’m pretty sure that almost scared the fur right off of my pelt. Wow.” Although that alone might’ve been a clue not to pursue this further, Fawnpaw wasn’t deterred and instead gawked at Frostflight as he expressed interest in continuing. “Wait, really?” he asked, entire expression brightening. “I… If you’re sure, I didn’t think you’d want to— most warriors, they… it’s like they don’t want to see anything beyond what they already know.” When he realized he was gushing excitedly, his ears tilted back and gaze averted in embarrassment. “I mean, uh, yeah. Let’s… go see what it is.”

It was truly the first time he’d met someone who shared his senes of adventurism and wanderlust, most warriors opting to turn back because they felt it was too dangerous or not worthwhile. But Frostflight-- rather than giving those typical excuses had actually asked him if he wanted to go on, appearing just as invested in pursuing this mystery… It was a safe assumption that Fawnpaw was positively starstruck.

And he was determined not to ruin this opportunity, so he started with the basics: drawing a deep breath inward to puff his chest in hopes of appearing more confident. Then, letting it out again because he hadn’t realized it’d be that difficult to sustain. “You’re right, we should be careful,” he echoed as he surveyed the landscape, head lowering to catch any possible scents as he took a couple cautious pawsteps forward. “Maybe… it was just a prey animal?” he suggested quietly, keeping his voice hushed as Frostflight had done. “It didn’t seem that big, but I guess that’s coming from the mouse-brain who tracked a fox.”
