Shell looked up at him and uncurled herself and stood up. "What's that stench?", she asked, wrinkling her nose at the scent of the fish. The kitten had never smelled the scent of fish before. She didn't even know what it tasted like. Shell's mouth began to water at the thought of getting something to eat. Her stomach growled, but she didn't expect this cat to share.

"I'll admit, it's easier to hunt on dry land because I can feel the vibrations and scent the prey," Wisdomsight said cheerfully with a swish of her tail. "Fishing is a little different. Usually I can smell the fish, but it's faint above the scent of the river. And I use the sound of the river to judge my distance from the edge, so I know if my shadow hovers over the river or not."

"Wow! That's awesome. Maybe you could teach me how to hunt land prey, I always am tripping over my paws to catch a vole." she mewed with an embarrassed chuckle. "If you don't mind I would like to hunt near the river though, it is kind of my specialty over there and really the only place I feel comfortable hunting," she spoke gently. "I would still like to be taught how to catch mice and birds without disrupting half the clans but maybe another time. When we get more used to the number of mouths we have to feed." She paused thinking for a second, "With this much work to do Lionstorm will have to loosen up on Skyclan cats, Riverclan is strong and I don't doubt our abilities but maybe we can soon start incorporating Skyclan cats into Riverclan patrols. Maybe they can start to feed themselves, I don't trust them to patrol the borders though, who knows what information they could spread. " She spoke, giving just enough time for a reply in between questions and statements, as she lead Wisdomsight towards the river.

"We have nothing to fear from the SkyClan cats," Wisdomsight murmured, a sudden edge of intelligence in her voice as she padded alongside Oakbranch. "They took refuge here for a better life. They won't spill any incriminating secrets to the other Clans because that means that they would have to fight the battle alongside us, or risk getting driven out. Besides, after they had that impossible quarrel with that pack of dogs, I doubt they want any more fighting for moons to come." The she-cat sighed. "Lionstorm will need to learn to trust them sooner, because we'll exhaust ourselves at this rate."

Wisdomsight dropped into a hunter's crouch, perking her ears as she listened to the sound of the river. She crept closer until she felt the pebbles of the streambed beneath her paws. The faint scent of fish drifted above the wet scent of the river. The warrior closed her blind green eyes and poised herself to strike, becoming in tune with nature. The shells that lay knotted in her fur shone in the sunlight.

The ebony tom opened his mouth at the others remark, but shut it slowly. "That's a good point... er well, put your clans needs first...is one thing you should remember." he mumbled, sitting himself down abruptly as he thought hard about how to be a 'good deputy'. In reality it was just a singular step up from a warrior, more responsibilities was all it was, and he hadn't seen much of Lionstorm in terms of getting in trouble, so he knew the tom knew how to be a good warrior. Really it was just making a bunch of important decisions, and Fallenstar couldn't tell the deputy how to do that. He couldn't even do it himself really.

He brought his paw up to his cheek and poked it a few times, almost patting it too. "Well, I won't lie, I'm not sure how to prepare you to be a good deputy, most of it's really up to you and how you react to situations." he said after a few moments. "Like say....Say that Thunderclan was taking prey from our border. What would you do?" he asked, looking back up at the deputy.

She purred along with the small joke she added, happy that her blindness never really put her down. It was like the stars aligned them to be mentor and apprentice, she understood the hardship of being a disabled cat that wants to serve their clan as much as possible. Even if it meant putting aside of being a warrior, a queen can do just as much. Helping raise the next generation is an honor itself. She blinked, impressed to see how easily the she-cat can maneuver through the river without a struggle. Her tail tip brushed her long, shell tangled fur to indicate that she's right in front of her. "As tired as the wings of a bird but I'm still healthy n' crowin'. What about you, sweetie? I don't get to see you often, what have you been up to?" @Aquilex
