Name: Soaringpaw
Age: 7 moons old
Gender: she-cat
Personality: |Reserved|Solitary|Insecure|Emotional|Temperamenta l|Mean|Troublesome|Angry|Depressed|Suicidal|Disres pectful|Closed-off|Closed-minded|Xenophobic| Mentally unstable|
Soaringpaw isn’t the most pleasant cat to be around. She often is seen bullying kits and apprentices who seem rather insecure. Soaringpaw doesn’t do it purely to be mean, she does it to make herself feel better about herself. She is often very disrespectful to warriors and elders and doesn’t respect authority. She does what she wants when she wants. She typically persuades her friends to skip training to get into mischief or talks them into going hunting late at night instead of sleeping. Soaringpaw is known to throw an awful temper tantrum when she doesn’t get her way. She choses to keep to herself and pushes people away because she doesn’t want to get hurt. She never shares any information about her life unless she’s having a mental breakdown, which happens often. Due to her past she once a moon will break down into tears sobbing uncontrollably blaming herself for her parents abuse and her littermates’ deaths. Soaringpaw has a tough exterior and pretends like no insult hurts her, when they really do hurt her badly. While she may be an unpleasant cat to be around. She’s never hurt anyone physically and would never join the Dark Forest. She can be a bit closed minded and dislikes anyone who isn’t clanborn and takes a while to warm up to them. She supports Icestar and agrees with all of her new policies. Soaringpaw struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts. While she may be a box of negativity, she wants to one day gain a more positive view on life, however; she knows it will take time.
Where you want your character to go: I would like her to be able to grow closer to other people over time. I would like Soaringpaw to start living in the present more instead of the past. I’d like her to stop suppressing her emotions as much. I’d like her to quit bullying those more mentally insecure than she is.
Potential plots:
Plot idea #1: She could be very distant from Agave for a while, however maybe while out of camp with Agave, something horrible happens and Agave saves her sacrificing her life for Soaring
Plot idea #2: Soaring start viewing Agave like a mother and possibly Agave could view her as a child
Other: It would mean a lot to her if after Agave dies Soaring could visit Agave in her dreams just once. Also it will destroy Soaring for a few moons when Agave dies.
Background: Soaringpaw was born to Sweetfox (mother) and Jaywater(father). She was the sister to her younger sisters Drowningkit and Forgottenkit. Her father physically abused her by clawing her when she was in his way or simply spoke. Her mother verbally abused her and never let her play. One day her parents took her siblings out of camp and came back alone. The next day they were found dead in the stream. She is positive (and correct) that her parents killed her siblings. As a kit she never knew that what her parents did was wrong and not normal. As an apprentice she began to avoid them and took out her rage and grief on everyone around her.
Roleplay Sample: This is a RP between my Soaringpaw and @
Moonraven ‘s Elfinpaw. Shadowclan clearing page 674-684
Soaringpaw stalked out of the apprentice den. Her fur was mostly black, she had white paws and a white chest. Soaringpaw’s fur was clearly ungroomed. It was extremely messy, some chunks were sticking up. It looked as if she had never groomed her fur before. Her dark green eyes were wide. She looked rather unruly. she stalked past the apprentice near her mindlessly pushing the apprentice out of the way paying no mind to the apprentice in her way.
The tiny tortie was currently rubbing at her eyes with a small frown that didn't fit on her often blissful face. Two long marks, now scars, cut through each eyelid and stop just at the middle of her cheeks. Those were healing fine since the battle with rogues, it was her eyes that were bothering her something fierce. Elfinpaw paused in her rubbing as she felt her balance thrown off, she barely manages to catch herself before her nose hits the ground. Normally cats would have been more upset with the rude gesture, Elfinpaw was merely concern as she cast her blurry gaze to who looked like a fellow apprentice. "
Um...excuse me, but are you okay?" She asked, peering at the apprentice as best she could.
Soaringpaw stopped in her tracks before slowly after a good few seconds,”
I’m fine.” She snapped in an angry voice. She unsheathed her claws and dug them into the ground her eyes trained intently on the small tortoiseshell who was speaking to her.
Elfinpaw's ears twitched at the harsh tone coming from the other apprentice but didn't flinch or bother being upset with her. "
You don't sound fine." She told her in an airy tone of voice. "
My eyes aren't working the greatest right now, but even I can see that you don't look fine either." Elfinpaw's never been one to ignore those she felt needed some assistance. "
What's wrong? How come you're so angry? Did you get scolded or something?"
Soaringpaw was annoyed with the apprentice,”
I guess you are blind then, because I’m fine.” She huffed wishing the apprentice would leave her alone before grumpily adding,”
I don’t care when I get scolded.” Before suddenly shouting,”
I’m not angry!” She fought every instinct telling her to break into tears crying.
Soaringpaw’s mother had been neglectful and mean to her, while her father physically attacked her. She also knew her mother killed her two siblings Drowningkit and Sinkingkit. Now that she was away from her parents, and she had learned that they were not normal she was reacting by trying not to feel insecure and scared by being the biggest bully she could be and trying to shut off any thoughts she had. She also was acting out in training.
Elfinpaw shrugged her dainty shoulders at the blind comment, there really were some days where she wondered if she was blind or not. "
You don't seem okay." She answered as if she hadn't heard the last part of her sentence or her shouting. Her head tilted itself in a bird-like manner as she tried to figure out how her adopted father might handle a situation like this. "
Maybe you're not mad." She meowed, somewhat to herself like trying to figure out the answer to a hard question.
"
Are you sad then?" Elfinpaw questioned in a dejected tone. "
Shall we talk about it?" The tortie perked up while lifting a paw to rub at a watery eye once more. "
I bet you'll feel better if you talk about whatever bothering you." She purred as if she and this apprentice had been friends for moons. Her eyes didn't work that well but her ears worked perfectly.
Soaringpaw wanted so bad to push off her emotions so she growled,”
Stop acting like an over-protective queen.” She paused as she heard the compassion the Elfinpaw’s voice before she suddenly collapsed on the ground sobbing loudly. As she weakly whispered,”
I’m perfectly fine.”
Huh? Elfinpaw doesn't think she's ever been called overprotective or a queen before. She decided to take it as a compliment considering she was aspiring to be a queen once she got the warrior stuff down. A loud sigh could be heard that bleed into a small chuckle as she closed the distance between her and Soaringpaw. The miniature apprentice plopped herself down right beside the sobbing cat silently. "
You really aren't fine, are you?" Her voice held a nurturing warmth to it as she rested her chin on her forepaw, wordlessly offering whatever comfort she could. "
You know it's okay to not be fine all the time." Elfinnpaw figured it was probably tiring bottling up whatever it that got Soaringpaw so emotional. She must be so tired.
Soaringpaw glanced at Elfinpaw,”
No...I’m not okay.” She sniffled,”
My parents killed my sibling as kits, my mother ignored me or called me names and by father attacked me for speaking.” She paused for a few beats,”
I get it, I shouldn’t be bothered by it because I’m an apprentice now.”
Elfinpaw, although naturally empathic, was having trouble relating to the depressed apprentice. Elfinpaw lacked the memories of an actual family and had no siblings. She's certainly never had to deal with having kin kill their own kin either nor did she have an abusive father. So it was hard for her figure out what to say that wouldn't utterly insensitive. Normally the petite apprentice just spoke without worrying about her words, but this topic was clearly very delicate.
"
Well, I can't say that just because you're older that you should just forget about it." She spoke after a prolonged paused. "
I've heard cats say that time heals everything, but I don't think that this is one of those things that can be fixed with time. Yet it's not like you can change what's happened either." She meowed half to herself half to Soaringpaw. "
I'm not saying you should ignore all the bad things that have happened, yet, you shouldn't let them define you either."
It wasn't hard to tell the apprentice was struggling to find the right words here. One of the older cats probably would have been better at this then her considering her age, yet she was going to try. "
Hm...you probably don't understand what I'm getting at because I don't understand what I'm getting at." She sighed, most likely going to give herself a headache trying to console the apprentice.
She sighed,”
That’s what everyone says...” she knew that advice was probably accurate but she didn’t want to wait,”
I’ve waited to moons, but it still hasn’t improved yet.” She meowed
