The slinky black tom walked with a prideful stride, his thin black tail curling over his back as his yellow eyes scanned their warming forest. The turn of the season was truly exciting; he hadn't eaten well all Leaf-bare and he craved a full belly. Bringing the fresh air through his nostrils, he kept his eyes forward as the other explained his story, "I heard about that." A mild growl rolled through his throat as his fur stood slightly; "If we find them, I'll shred their pelt." He met the other's gaze with a stern nod.
(ooc: I could bring in one of my rogues to cause them some trouble on the border if you want?) @implimm
Thistlepaw silently followed her mentor, golden gaze focused on the larger cat. She noticed Dawnstripe no longer had any sign of favoring her uninjured shoulder and must be back to herself. A tweak of hope singed through her, perhaps that would mean they could train more often so that she could finally be made a warrior. Perhaps if she were a warrior she would finally be able to partake in some of the action. The little dilute tortie was tired of seeing the action from the sidelines. The fur along her spine pricked with excitement at the thought, but her expression remained a cool smirk. As always. As she padded along quietly she took some quicker steps to fall into place beside her mentor, jaw dropping open to taste the crisp forest air around her.
[ just doing this so we can finish off the patrol ! <3 ]

sheeplight shuddered at the cold, her eyes flickering to the direction of the camp. what were they doing? pathetic-- the molly had.. things.. to do and this, this wasn't one of it. her tail twitch with annoyance. ''we're done. we're going back, " she stated bluntly, an edge to her tone. sheeplight blink, somewhat taken aback at her sudden display of aggressiveness. she knitted her eyebrows together, "please. i-- i dislike being away from camp so long, it just,, " sheeplight's voice trailed off. she was even cringing at her own display! i mean, she had to what she had to do but jeez. not fun. she wanted to go back to thistletongue and annoy him. without another word, she whirl away, twisting her head to look down at the ground with a pained look. she bristly walk away, speedwalking towards camp.

"Good," Nettlespark scoffs approvingly. "As will I." He almost hoped they would find Albedo, just so he could dig his claws into their mangy pelt and get that smug grin off of their face. But finding nothing was the ideal result of a walk through their territory. As they pad along, the warrior's lips part so that he could taste the air. It had been warming up lately, enough for thaw to caress the forest and soak the ground with snowmelt. This also meant that scent trails lingered longer, clinging to things without getting snuffed out by the cold. All the better to track down any intrusions upon their land.

(No worries! I didn't realize it had only been a day! I didn't mean to be a nag.)
Blackfoot nodded his lean head, flaring his own nostrils to take in the smell of the forest. He didn't smell anything suspicious, which was good, but he half hoped they would find someone. Things had been rough lately for the whole clan and he felt like getting some rage out of his system. As he stepped, he flexed his nails into the dirt, scraping them every so often to leave a marking. @implimm
She was just out of the camp not too long ago, but everything felt so much better without a sore shoulder to tend. She smiled to herself while walking, feeling the apprentice's golden eyes on her, she turned and glanced at her. "So which hunting technique were you already taught?" She asked, stopping as she did so. Dawnstripe figured she should probably start with the teaching before hunting down prey. She hoped they could make this quick and get down to hunting. She enjoyed the feeling of a good chase and catch.
In his blind frustration, Falconpaw had not been paying attention to his surroundings when he left camp. He was angry belong belief! Who did they think they were— acting like they had the right to argue with him? To demean him? Falconpaw had not done anything wrong, he was sure. All he said before everyone ganged up on him was that had Twilightheart been in the nursery like a good she-cat, she would not have caused so much trouble..
And it was true, he knew. She would not have had a chance to cause any issues if she was nursing a litter of kits! Granted, he did not think she was good stock for having kits, but .. he was still certain there would have been much less drama in her presence.
It did not matter, he supposed as his pace slowed to a trot. The forest was a far more enjoyable sight than his Clan-mates right now, and he let out a sigh after he inhaled some fresh air. It was okay, ...he was okay. He did not need the idiots of ShadowClan dragging him down. Their uncultured, careless ways were only going to bite them in the future, and then they would see.
Distracted by his thoughts, he failed to notice the wide silvery loop he passed through.. until he felt something tighten around him and lunged forward to escape it, only to find it had secured around his tail!
"Weeeh!" He could not get out, and the trap was just getting tighter, and tighter-- he could not get out, it was digging into his skin, biting into him worse than fangs, and he could feel his tears weal in his eyes—
he did not want to die...
Not right now, not so unfairly by an unseen creature masquerading as something he did not recognize!
In his struggles against the thing around his tail, he twisted around to try to attack the metallic string that held him hostage, but his teeth did nothing against the loop. It clanked against him, impenetrable, and he was quickly running out of options. What could he do?? The pain in his tail was unbearable, the worst thing he experienced, even worse than the dog biting his tail tip away— it felt like there was only one thing he could do and..
And that, he decided, was what he had to do. Twisting and pulling away from the snare, he ducked to bite at his own tail— through his blood and fur, to where the skin was breaking apart around the bone and sinew, and it hurt, he could not keep doing this, but he had to..
There was no other choice, and he was finally free— stumbling away from the trap in a pained daze as he stared at the piece of his tail on the ground.
He felt... sick, he could hardly breathe, the corners of his vision were beginning to darken, and he only had time to take a step back before everything went dark.
---
When he came to, he found himself away from where he had collapsed. Outside of camp, on the opposite side of the warriors' den. And there..
There was his parents, Peachfuzz and Tinyfuzz, and he almost choked with his sobs at the sight of them. It felt like he hardly saw them with how backwards the Clan had become, how.. evil ShadowClan had turned over the moons.
"Falconpaw," Peachfuzz's voice was a deep rumble as he set a few dark-red berries down in front of him. "Arise, son. Today is the day we embrace StarClan's Will and ascend to the Stars Themselves. Your mother has agreed with me.. The Dark Forest has tainted ShadowClan at its roots, and there is no longer hope for us here.
"They have won this Clan.. but I will not allow my family to be damned with the rest of them! A female leader constantly fueled by her She-catly Emotions, her weakling of a deputy— a female medicine cat at a prime age to be groomed for the nursery. She-cat warriors abundant, blinded by lies about being 'decent' at what they do!
"StarClan is calling us all, and we shall answer Their Will." Falconpaw watched as Peachfuzz pushed the berries to his mother, a silent demand to take them that she obeyed. Then, Peachfuzz took his own, his dark mouth stained with a tinge of red from the juices.
Then.. it was his turn as his father pushed the berries to him. They glistened in the dying sunlight like balls of blood, and he hesitated. "Are.. you sure about this?"
Peachfuzz's gaze was relentless, staring into Falconpaw, and his pelt bristled with his discomfort. "Answer StarClan's Call, boy. It is your Divine Duty." When Falconpaw did not rush to eat the berries, Peachfuzz shoved them in his face. "Eat it!"
Ah.. okay. Falconpaw relented to his father's will, taking a bite out of the bitter berries, quick to swallow them due to his dislike of the taste.
His mother was already beginning to slump onto the ground, drool pouring from her mouth, and he could see how sluggish his father was becoming, how slow his movements were as he settled around Tinyfuzz. They were..
They were actually dying, and he was next, and he did not want to die...
Hurt and feeling the weight of his stomach churning, a sickly sensation overcoming him, Falconpaw was desperate as he tried to flee— trying to go around the barrier to make it back to camp.
He only made it as far as just outside the entrance before he collapsed, a combination of saliva and berry juice running out of his mouth. He did not want to die..
"Well I've been over how to hunt voles, mice and rabbit. That is all easy. As well as Toad and frogs, I know where they hide. The things I haven't learned to hunt yet are the tricky ones, like birds and squirrels!" Thistle was feeling rather optimistic about the warrior waking her what she already knew, it gave her more of a sense that perhaps Dawnstripe cared a little. Though she could be wrong, she was probably just doing her duty. The thought made the excitement get subdued with a bit of a guarded expression, she didn't want to look overeager to only be disappointed down the road. Her fur itched to say something meaner or offputting all of a sudden, something to put some comfortable distance between them. It was just easier if other cats found her unapproachable rather than losing someone she might learn to look up to.
Hailstorm had stayed around camp after the clan meeting, milling about with her own thoughts and troubles. She remained rattled from the whole experience of Falconpaw's outburst, and how quick the other warriors had been to assume her incompetence. And on top of that, how harsh some of them had been to the young tom. Sure, he was a pain, but he was young, and still had a lot to learn. Maybe she had been too hard on him as well. She decided she'd pay him a visit.
"Falconpaw?" She had poked her head into the apprentice's den, only to find his nest empty. And she had panicked. Oh, stars, who am I to think he would stay in camp? Of course he wouldn't! She rushed out the camp entrance and into the territory, the sight of the dog chasing him before replaying in her mind. If something's happened to him, I'll never forgive myself, she fretted inwardly. It didn't take her long to catch his scent, as well as another, sickly sweet smell. Her heart raced in her chest when she heard his soft cry for help. She followed it, and found him, slumped on the ground with something red coating his mouth, and half his tail missing.
"Falconpaw!" She exclaimed, fear reigning her voice as she rushed to his side. "Can you hear me? Oh, StarClan, what happened?" She froze for a moment, unsure of what she could do, but she realized that every second could be critical to his survival. Without another thought, she grabbed him by the scruff and started taking him back to camp, as quickly as she could.

So far, this scouting patrol was a huge bust! Nettlespark continued to pad along the loamy forest floor at a smooth pace with his Clanmate with a neutral expression, but disappointment prickled at his pelt. He was sure that Blackfoot must have felt it, too, even if only a little bit. "I suppose we should also hunt, huh," he mutters, as if making an observation rather than a suggestion. The Clan did need more food than it had, especially with illness at their doorstep. "At least if we spot anything. It's not necessarily a hunting patrol, so." He shrugs, looking up at the trees above and rotating his velvety ears about to collect the noises of the sparse wood.
(Eh, when you're havin' fun with it it really feels like forever between posts!)
