From across the nursery, Puddlekit noticed Heatherkit awaken from his nap. Giving his pelt a quick shake, he stood up and padded over to his friend. Blinking a couple times, he purred warmly and sat down near him. "Hello, Heatherkit. How have you been holding up?" The young tom had meant to ask this question before, but it wouldn't have been the right timing to hold such a serious conversation in front of the newborn kits. The less cats that remembered Ashwing, the better.

Heatherkit's nose filled with a familiar scent. He looked over as Puddlekit sat down next to him. He smiled, beginning to purr himself. "Hello Puddlekit." He thought for a moment about what Puddlekit asked before replying, "I feel better than before." He turned to look at his flank scars before turning back to Puddlekit. "What about you?" He shifted on his paws, still not at ease while being around all the kits.

Wraith finally made her way to the nursery, having had to ask several strange cats after being told the Medicine Den wasn't safe for her anymore. She stumbled through the entrance, suddenly nervous about meeting the other queens.
Her fur stood on end as she suddenly became the centre of attention. Oh, dear. This was more stressful than she thought it would be and suddenly wished Twilightstar was there like she had been when she had shown her to the healing cat.

Songbird lifted her head at the commotion that was taking place at the front entrance of the nursery. "What do you want?" She said cooly as she looked the molly up and down. The mottled queen has been on guard with who's coming in and out of her den since the last kit incident.

"I'm fine, I don't have any injuries. You were the one who Ash--" He cut himself off, not wanting to evoke negative memories in Heatherkit. "I'm terribly sorry if that made you think of a certain thing." Puddlekit glanced at his feet, not really certain of what he should say next. "So," he said, attempting to change the subject. "Are you excited that we'll be apprentices soon?"

Heatherkit was glad that Puddlekit was okay. He was glad when Puddlekit didn't talk about Ashwing. He was starting to get less memories about her, and he didn't want to start that up again. He heard Puddlekit say sorry and looked at Puddlekit, glad he was friends with him. "It's fine Puddlekit," he replied to his apology. When Puddlekit asked if he was excited to be an apprentice, Heatherkit thought for a moment. "Yes. I am excited to learn new things and help the clan." He turned his gaze back to the group of kits in the nursery. "What about you? Are you excited that we will get to become an apprentice soon?"

"Of course I'm excited!" He smiled, thinking about all the things they could do as apprentices. They could hunt real prey, instead of just playing warrior and mouse. "I can't wait for the next meeting. Maybe when we're apprentices we can hunt and train together." Puddlekit purred, imagining all the prospects of the future. If all went according to plan, the whole friend group would be becoming apprentices together, and maybe even warriors together in the distant future. Puddlepaw, Heatherpaw, Dawnpaw, Basilpaw, and Snailpaw. The names felt strange to him, but they would hopefully all grow used to them.

Seeing Puddlekit happy made Heatherkit happy. He smiled, listening to his friend and thinking about what it would be like to be an apprentice. He wondered who his mentor would be. "Who do you think your mentor will be," he asked Puddlekit. I think I would like Brindlejaw...He doesn't have a apprentice right now...
