Cormorantpaw nodded, satisfied that Buckbranch had only bitten his tongue and sat down heavily at the tortoiseshell’s suggestion of calling it a day. Rolling his neck around and wincing, Cormorantpaw nodded sheepishly, embarrasses that the fall that had taken him out was his own fault. “Yeah,” he mumbled, “maybe a break would be good. My neck hurts... come to think of it, everything hurts...” The black and grey tom chuckled at his own words and gave Buckbranch a wry smirk, not wanting the older tom to think he was complaining about training. It had been rough and kinda painful, but Cormorantpaw had enjoyed it nonetheless.

Buckbranch let out a heavy sigh and sank to the ground next to Cormorantpaw. The young cat had really done a number on him - his chin ached and he kept having to wipe blood away from his mouth.
He cast Cormorantpaw a sideways glance, and couldn't help but grin back. "It might be a good idea for you to go see Lionwhisker when we get back to camp," he suggested. "I didn't mean for this to be so rough, but I guess I got a little carried away. Sorry about that." He leaned back, stretching out his shoulders until they popped. "Next session, we'll focus entirely on defense. Nothing as rough as this."

Seeing her mentor was awake, Sweetpaw bounced out of the warriors den. “Yay! I’m so excited! Aren’t you excited Minnowthorn?” Sweetpaw chirped quickly, her words slurring together from lack of sleep and excitement. The brown apprentice was ecstatic to say the least. This was their first training session, and their first ‘true’ training session of seeing the territory. The whole territory was so big! ”Where are we going first? Are we going to go beat badgers off our land? Defend the clan from angry rouges? Feed them by catching the most prey ever?” Sweetpaw’s eyes sparkled a little with each question as she glanced back at her mentor, eyes wide with hope that Minnowthorn would agree to do one of her suggestions.

The black and grey apprentice flopped down beside his mentor, falling over onto his side with a fatigued huff and rolling up his eyes to look at Buckbranch. He felt sore, a pain he’d never experienced before since he wasn’t used to training or fighting, but the fading adrenaline also made him feel good. Cormorantpaw likes the feeling of exhaustion that his worked muscles gave him and nothing hurt too bad if he stayed still. It certainly was different from playing around as a kit, though! Cormorantpaw flicked his tail against the ground and closed his eyes as he answered the tortoiseshell warrior, “I think I’m fine, I don’t want to bother him. The only thing that really hurts is my neck, but that’s just when I move it and only for a second.” The young tom would have shrugged but for his laying position and neck pain, as it was he just added, “I don’t mind. I’m excited for when I get better- then I can start to kick your butt!” Cormorantpaw laughed mischievously and opened his eyes to peer at Buckbranch with a grin.

Softbriar watched Eveningpaw scent the air, trying to decipher the rodent scent from the rocks nearby. "Great job!" They let their tone show they were proud of her attempt, it was great for her first time out of camp. They continued along, they wanted to reach a clearing before giving a short demonstration of hunting, so that Eveningpaw might take the chance to make her first catch during the tour. Seasons of paw steps wore down trails in the undergrowth that Softbriar followed until the area opened up to a small, grassy clearing. "I'm going to show you how to stalk, just watch what I do and do that same thing, okay?" They'd see how Eveningpaw could replicate the demonstration before giving them pointers more tailored to what she needed to improve on.
They lowered into a crouch at one side of the clearing, taking care to keep their tail from rustling any plants around them. They moved forward quietly, taking their time so Eveningpaw could see their movements until they'd reached the other end of the clearing. Turning to the apprentice, they gave a nod. "You give it a try."

(Oh. My. God. I am so sorry I'm not sure HOW I missed this. I hope you're still able to finish this roleplay.)

Eyes wide, the new apprentice scrambled into a hasty position, Eveningpaw couldn't believe she was already learning how to hunt! Her eyebrows furrowed deeply and her tongue stuck out in concentration, careful to match the position accurately. She felt awkward being so low to the ground and her long fur scraped against the harsh, rocky earth. Her knees swayed trying to get comfortable. The she-cat took note of everything her mentor was doing, however she hadn't been as observant towards what the cat WASN'T doing. Like their tail was certainly not swishing in anticipation. Something the apprentice clearly had trouble controlling. After a few quiet, awkward moments Eveningpaw sat back up awaiting for instruction and critique quietly. Maybe it looked better than it had felt?

"We're going to do something different this time." Uh, what next? He felt they shouldn't do any of the more agility based attacks just yet, he'd need to put something together for Bonepaw to maybe make this easier.
"Attacking the face is effective, a lot of the sensitive parts are there and if you can hit them just right, you can maybe knock them senseless. Unfortunately, the easiest way to do that is on the hind legs, leaving a very vulnerable spot open- your belly."
He immediately remembered seeing Sweetsong's corpse, how he had nearly been disemboweled. He close his eyes briefly and swallowed back bile.
Now was not the time for that.
"First, try making attacks like that and try to find a way to balance yourself."

The white tom nodded, and he went onto his hind legs, trying to balance himself. It seemed wobbly at first, and Bonepaw fell over. Then he got up, and tried again. It took several attempts, but he finally managed to balance himself. After that, he went for a half-powered swipe, trying to stay up on his legs.

Doepaw let out a defeat sigh. She thought she'd gotten him or at least, would be given a chance. Sitting down, she perked her ears at his comment... This would be harder than she thought. Having to try to figure out where to aim while not being aware of whereshe was aiming was proving a tough nut for the young apprentice to crack. She knew where her paws were, she knew were her legs were and her back. But she also knew that she was smaller than the average cat, like when she compared herself to the struggles of play fighting with Myrtlepaw and the giant size of Flintspirit. The little apprentice didn't exactly know how to continue from here, unsure if she should try the move again. Maybe... Her green but blind eyes lit up, and a mischievous smile - something that very rarely grazed Doepaw's muzzle began spreading. He'd said... that they were watching her. What if they couldn't see where she was or at least what she was doing? Slowly standing up, she walked up to Flintspirit and then further along, understanding suddenly apparent and then she tried her best, as he was facing away, to swipe his hindleg from out under him with her front paw.

Flintspirit gave Doepaw a small nudge, glad that she'd been listening to his instruction, but also wanting to let her know she's been doing well. "Don't worry, things just take a lot of time to learn. You'll get it eventually." He meowed, before turning a bat as he began to think of the next move, head tilted. "Alright so for this next one, you're going to want to-" Flintspirit had begun to walk forward so he could give himself some more space again, but was tripped by who he could only assume was Doepaw, and his momentum flung him forward and down onto the ground as he lost balance. "Well." He laughed, coughing up a bit of dusty earth that had gotten in his mouth. "I could say you've definitely learned something here, as have I." He sat up, flicking an ear as he gave Doepaw a raised eyebrow stare. "I've gotta keep my eye on you at all times during training." He laughed, getting to his paws. "But I think that should wrap it up for today, do you feel like you've learned something?"

Blizzardpaw jumped over the fallen tree to follow Silversky. "Well then, part of the forest are we going to explore?" He asked, his eyes sparkling with joy from her previous comment.

"We'll be taking a path around the territory, like we're on a border patrol. If you scent anything, let me know, and we can see if there's something we can catch."
