A Walk in the Forest
Based on Hansel and Gretel
Trees swinging,
Birds singing,
All along the merry path
Of the woods.
Soft earth,
Beautiful flowers,
All along the merry path
Of the woods.
Woodland creatures
Dart across the road,
All along the merry path
Of the woods.
Leaves falling from the sky,
The rushing of a river nearby,
All along the merry path
Of the woods.
Hand in Hand with you,
Dropping breadcrumbs on our way,
All along the merry path
Of the woods.
Soon ahead we see a house,
A house of candy it was.
All along the merry path
Of the woods.
We walk up to take a bite,
A witch's voice gives us a fright,
All along the dark path
Of the woods.
"Come in,"
The witch becons,
All along the scary path
Of the woods.
"I don't bite,"
The witch smiles,
All along the friendly path,
Of the woods.
A feast laid out,
Right before our eyes,
All along the uncertain path,
Of the woods.
"Dig right in,"
The witch coaxed.
All along the hungry path,
Of the woods.
As we reach to take a bite,
My brother is overcome with fright.
All along the strange path,
Of the woods.
My brother tries to escape,
But the witch grows angry,
All along the horrible path,
Of the woods.
The witch catches him,
Throws him in the cellar,
All along the frightening path,
Of the woods.
"Feed him 'till he's plump,"
The witch commands,
All along the hopeless path,
Of the woods.
A chicken bone is used,
To trick the blind witch into thinking,
That my brother is skinny,
All along the hopeful path,
Of the woods.
Tired does the witch become,
And tells me to heat the oven.
All along the path of ideas,
Of the woods.
"Where is it?" I ask,
Pretending to be rather dumb.
All along the hopeful path,
Of the woods.
"You imbecile, it's right here!"
The witch snarled.
She climbed right in, and lit the match.
I walked right up and closed the hatch.
I grabbed her key right off the wall,
And went to free us all.
Her screams echoed after us,
On the cautious path,
Of the woods.
