Rye looked hungrily at the piece of meat, taking a big bite. "Thanks. What's your name? I'm Rye." She squeaked, her voice raspy. She coughed, stirring up some dust, but that was about it. The piece of bird was so good, especially in her belly. She wondered why the other kit was alone, just like her, but didn't say anything.

Mud laughed, "silly, I already said my name! I'm mud!" he mewed, taking another bite out of the chicken. He nudged the prey back over to her, "here, you can have the rest. Do you wanna see where I get all my food?" he asked, hopping back up onto his back and prancing in a circle around her.

Rye scolded herself for zoning out when Mud had said his name. She gobbled up the rest of the food when Mud said she could. "Sure! Also, do you wanna know why I'm here?" She said, scratching her white ear. She wanted to tel her new friend about the clans, about WindClan. She really, really wanted to go there!

Mud wasn't really paying attention, but he tried to look like he was, "Oh, okay! What's a...clan?" he mewed, oblivious to practically everything she just said. "is there food at clans?" he asked, his mind focusing on the food part. As long as there was food there, he was all for it!

"Yes, there is lots of food there. The warriors, or older cats hunt with apprentices, who are basically bigger kits. Everyone in the clan can eat the food they have." She smiled, her belly thinking of how much food she would get when she joined a clan.

(Maybe they can get separated when they are crossing a thunderpath, and that's why they join different clans?)

Mud bounded after her, full of energy. This was his dream! He was going to have unlimited food and a best friend! He giggled, smiling widely, "I'm so excited!" he mewed, catching up to eye.
