snailswirl stiffened as their name was called. silence hung in the air for a few short moments and their gut tightened. all eyes were on them. or, all eyes that knew they existed. sheesh.

the tabby stood up and dipped their head toward twilightstar, both a s a show of respect and so the cats who,, didn’t even know they existed could see their new medicine cat apprentice. coldamber beside them, snail felt more at ease. they were in this together.

Gullpaw was shocked to learn her mother was the medicine cat so she ran forward,” Mom!” she yowled in excitement. She couldn’t believe it, this meant her mother could take her to the Starcave to visit Fizzlekit.

He was late... yeah. Stagpaw had been busy sleeping, having been so exhausted from his trip with Mushy for stones that the apprentice had just practically passed out and now... now he was late for Twiggy's meeting. That was bad wasn't it? It was really bad! He was her apprentice he wasn't meant to miss out on this but well, he was LATE not.. ABSENT. So rushing over as fast as he could he pushed through the masses of cats managing to see Twiggy leaping BACK UP on the rock? That was... strange. Did Twiggy want a rock maybe? But... he was late so maybe it was the best idea NOT to draw attention to himself. So he sat down in the front part of the crowd trying to just, blend in. Act like he WASN'T late. Listening to the announcements though his eyes found Old. Did this... did this.. mean no more hugs from Old? He would have to ask Twiglight on that one. Maybe he could? Maybe not.. who knew at this point.

a few congrats met their ears — uh, ear? ear and a half?? they didn’t know — and they smiled sheepishly. this wasn’t so bad. then a tiny shape started by and a squeal made their ears flatten. "who — what?" was all they could stammer at first, shocked. they didn’t realize that coldamber had a kit! maybe that was why she got the brunt of the "no mate, no kits" lecture. "what are you doing, kid?" they finally stuttered, unsure of what else to say.

Crowpaw was pleased more... engaged cats would be the new medicine cat now, the clan needed cats that actually wanted to do their jobs. Still maybe he was cynical with everything but Crowpaw felt unable to let a good things just be, not with his history. After a few cheers of the cats names he asked,
"How will they receive training?" He yowled out the question to Twilightstar letting his voice rasp "Will Coyotesnarl teach them when he has time or is there another plan?" Maybe that last part was a bit more sharp then he intended it but it was an honest question.

Dawnkit sighed and nodded.
"I understand Twilightstar and I will accept my punishment, waiting for another moon to teach myself to be more patient."
Dawnkit stood her ground as if to look like she was serious.

Gullpaw gave a happy smile to Snailswirl,” Oh congrats to you too Snailswirl. But my mom is your boss now.” she replied giving a big smile to the new medicine cat apprentice. Her mother’s apprentice. Her mother’s servant. Her mother’s pet cat.

Alright, training. Twilightstar had already come to the conclusion that this was probably going to be a very boring lesson. She still wasn't sure how she'd be dealing with Parasite's paw. She'll work something out after smacking him around a bit.
"Hurry up Parasite." She mewed, sitting down and waiting for the slug. Perhaps she woudln't actually spar with him and see about working his muscles instead. Whatever she figured out it would result in her doing the least amount of work possible.

this... was coldamber’s offspring? this tiny, bossy, annoying brat? snailswirl didn’t dislike most cats, but they knew that this baby was a headache waiting to happen. so, they opted to ignore the cat and just give it a gentle shove into the crowd. "you and your... mother, can talk later. this is a clan meeting." their voice was serious, and they already felt weary. in the future, they’d just have to push the annoying babies towards coldamber and hope she could tolerate them more than they could.

Coldamber had kept her head high as Twilightstar announced her new position, though it was more to reassure Snailswirl in her confidence and to encourage their own confidence.
Anything she would have said or done in response to the congratulations (and possibly rebuttals) when Gullpaw came running to her, calling for her.
Her carefully constructed face, her confidence, her pride, all melted away into a calmer, more relaxed state.
"Snailswirl, I believe Coyotesnarl has been drilling us on no kits and no mates because of Gullpaw."
She stood and approached her daughter, blinking. So Coyotesnarl truly was asking her to pretend her daughter was, uh, well, her daughter.
She reached her tail foward to rest on the apprentice's shoulder.
