Ashfeather nodded and squinted her eyes, tilting her head so that she could see better out of her regular eye. Her jaw tilted oddly to the side as she did so and hung more disturbingly as she opened her mouth to better taste the air. Sure enough, there was the scent of a rabbit blowing right toward them. Looking around, she saw a white one, its pelt standing out against the green grass like a patch of snow.
"I have an idea," the she-cat meowed. "Maybe you could creep around to the rabbit from behind while I hide in that clump of heather." She tried flicking her tail in that direction, but it was to no avail; it barely twitched. So, instead, she closed her mouth, tensed up her jaw, and moved her head in the direction of the nearby, purple-flowered heather bush.
"Then it will smell you and run toward me," she continued. "Chase it and make sure that it comes right at me. I'll leap out and kill it afterward." She felt proud of herself for formulating a plan. However, she realized that she had not asked Flameclaw if he wanted to do it.
"Is that okay?" she asked, anxiety creeping up into her throat and in her words. "D-do you actually want to do it?"
