"I have no function but this, program," Skye replied, not being fazed by anything Chris said. "I exist to serve, and serve only. Unlike you, I have no other purpose." She showed him her upper left arm, where the traditional female ISO symbol flickered brightly.

Chris hugged her. "No... " He began crying in Skye's shoulder. He kept on crying. He didn't want Skye to be like this. He never wanted this. He never would wish this on anyone, especially Skye. Chris liked this program! Why did it have to happen her? Why? He kept on crying into her shoulder.

Skye wanted to understand why he felt this way. She couldn't place why he was sad. Maybe it was because he had a different function. One he was programmed with. Unlike her, he'd been given a purpose... Skye had only materialized in the ocean.

Was Skye not supposed to appreciate her purpose?

Confusion rose in Skye's mind, and she attempted to pry away from the saddened program, unsure why he cared at all.

Nobody cared for her.

She was useless. Pointless. Unlike all the other programs, she wasn't created with a function. That's why CLU was killing off her kind in the first place, even though she wasn't aware of it.

Chris hugged her more tightly. He had stopped crying, but didn't stop hugging her. He wouldn't let go. Chris would protect Skye. Nobody would mess with Skye if Chris was around.

Chris said this. "I care about you. That's why." He didn't say anything else. He didn't want to. He heard footsteps. Faint, but footsteps. His staff was still laying on the ground.

Pavel came out of the store with coffee beans in a bag. He was running low on coffee as well. He didn't notice anything off, until he saw Skye and Chris. "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" Pavel called Skye over to him. He knew that Chris wouldn't hurt Skye, or his commander. He told Skye to... terminate Chris.

"Skye? Chris took some steps back. He picked up his staff, and got ready for the hardest battle of his life. He saw her draw her disc, and Chris got ready. He couldn't fight Skye. Chris could try and reason with her.

"Destroy him!" Pavel yelled out. Pavel had pulled out a snack, and began to watch the show. He also ordered Skye to kill him in the most painful way.
