"That's understandable, but remember that you serve CLU now. Not them." Paige repeated another line parrot-fashion-- one she often told herself in her earlier days of being a soldier. Her friends had been murdered by two vicious ISOs-- whom Paige thought she could trust. At least, that's what Tesler had told her.

His eyes turned a lighter red, and he lowered his disc. "S-Skye?" He stood over her, still a hint of red in his eyes. "What happened?"

"You can ask it, I won't bite." Paige didn't look up at her, but acknowledged her all the same. She still felt bad for keeping Vernal away from her friends-- but it was what all soldiers really had to do. They didn't have time for interactions outside the military-- even Paige herself couldn't see Beck more than once every other cycle.
