November Gathering

Whiteclaw clenched his jaw at all the leaders' announcements. It looked like there wasn't too much interesting stuff, which was a real shame. It was awesome that Sootstar was now the RiverClan leader, Lionstorm had always been quite wild, while Sootstar seemed like a pretty chill guy. He turned back to Brightpaw, as the younger cat revealed his smile. It was a nice smile, full of happiness and brightness[guess that was what he was named for - did kittens smile at birth?]. Whitey returned the small gesture, adding some sparkle to his own.

"Nice to see you here, especially 'cause you're not snapping at my neck like some of those.. other cats," Whiteclaw purred. "My name is Whiteclaw, though some call me Whitey - only if I let them, and only if they're friendly enough. It's fine about the paw, I think my poor foot has been stepped on so much it doesn't really care any more. My foot, I mean. And really, I promise you it's fine." He noted Bright's staring and gazed around himself, finally letting out a little laugh. "Yeah, mostly. Sometimes there are more - I think some Shadow and Wind cats died in the raid, or they're staying home for safety."

"Wow cool! Nice to meet ya!" With a grin, Baypaw took a seat. All the leaders were done with their announcements by now, so they figured they probably got the rest of the time to talk.

"So do we just get the rest of the time to talk? Or is there something else we gotta do or listen to?" They'd only been half paying attention to the last couple of announcements, but surely it wasn't that big of a deal, right? It wasn't as if they'd be tested on what they could remember from the gathering... would they? Nah probably not.

Without waiting for an answer to the question, they jumped right back into normal conversation. "What's it like in ThunderClan? How's the forest? How are uh... the trees? Not that RiverClan doesn't have trees, I mean. But we just don't have as many trees as you guys. But you probably knew that already because you're a warrior oops. Anyways, do you guys ever eat fish? If not, it's really yummy! You should try it sometime!"

Puddlesplash had been sitting quietly the whole gathering, simply listening to the announcements and whatnot. Typically he'd have taken the initiative to find someone to chat with, but he'd arrived a bit later than usual, and by then, most cats had been settled. Luckily, he didn't have to worry, for Duckbounce was waddling straight towards him.

He didn't see her at first, since he was facing the other direction. The tom was startled quite a bit by the incoming molly. But he perked back up once he saw who it was and smiled. "Uh, yeah, I think so? I feel like we talked at one of the past gatherings, right?" If he was being honest, he didn't 100% remember this cat, but she did look familiar, so he'd just go with the assumption that they had, in fact, talked before, and that his memory was just a little cloudy at the moment.

He felt slightly bad for not remembering her name, so he avoided using it in greeting, simply jumping straight into normal conversation. "Nice to see you again. How's everything going in RiverClan? I heard there were quite a few high rank changes. How's that been?"

Dawnstar tuned out the Minnow announcement, nothing interesting to be heard besides the fact the Bigfish stepped down leaving this minnow in charge. As soon as it was over, the sturdy tabby parted her maw to call for her clanmates and let them know that they were leaving, but she paused as soon as heard Minnowstar wanted to talk to her? Her golden eyes flashed with distrust, she'd much rather just act like she hadn't him. But counsel from the others advised her that at least hearing him out wouldn't do any harm.
The powerful muscles shifted underneath her pelt tensed as she leaped off the stones, signally to her clanmates that they should gather they were leaving as soon as she was done talking.
"Make it fast," Dawnstar called to the RiverClan leader, large paws shifting underneath the gritty sand.

The tears in her dark amber eyes made her vision blurry. Oh dear Starclan her daughter was still beautiful as the day she lost her. Why did Starclan send down their fallen angel to her?
It never registered that her daughter could possibly be alive, all this time Stormlily convinced herself that she was the last one. But the moment Echopaw nosed her chin to lift the molly's face that belief changed.
Pausing the warrior took the heartbeat to actually look at her kin, her pelt wasn't shimmering with stars and she couldn't see through her. Was it possible...?
"Echopaw?"
Wiping the stream of tears away Stormlily moved to a sitting position to look at her daughter better. The apprentice grew, I missed my baby girl growing up... She was up to her nose by now, the last time she was right to the middle of her chest.

Palepaw was exploring through the cats at the Gathering when she smelled a very familiar smell, so she followed it, occasionally checking to seen if it was a who she was smelling, but no luck so far, up until she almost ran into Sparrowpaw, the Sparrowpaw she had met at the ShadowClan border.
She perked up and smiled at him.
"Oh, hi Sparrowpaw! Remember me from the border? I was Halfpaw then, but I've since been renamed to Palepaw. How have you been since we last met?"

Palepaw gave him a big grin. At least there would be someone familiar at the Gathering she could talk to. She wanted to know more about Sparrowpaw, he'd been nice to her at the border.
"I've been good!! I haven't gotten lost again, so I think my navigation it getting better. And I have a new mentor. I don't think you knew my first one, but I thought I'd let you know."

Quick? Had she made no comment he might have made it quick but she just had to say something. Quite the impatient one this Icespawn was - he could tell. He glanced at the cats milling about before facing his quarry, offering no reassuring smile as he might with a clanmate.

"I don't know what you intend to do with your new-found rank but I know what I intend to do with mine. I have done my time as deputy and during that time I've done what I could to make sure my clan prospers. I've learned from my mistakes."

"You haven't had that time. Do yourself a favor and learn from your mother's mistakes. She wanted to rule with the forest under an iron paw but she was beaten back with every attempt. By my clan. Icestar had the benefit of quick death at the paws of a clanmate. If you threaten my clan - their wellbeing - I will not do you such a favor. Understood?"

He did not pause and wait for an answer, "Good." Sootstar flashed a smile. She surely wouldn't listen but it was worthwhile to ruffle her feathers a little bit.

"RiverClan, we're leaving!"
