He spat out a wad of reddened fur into the dirt, then resumed a serpentine grin. "What are you, a mouse?" Burningpaw rolled off of Powderpaw then reared onto his hindquarters, digging his paws down into his brother's ribcage and pushing him out of the tall grass into the clearing. He stalked after him, his confident stride and smug expression radiating an energy that screamed "see how tough I am."

"I don't fight mice. Scream for mercy, Shadowclan dog!" Before Powderpaw could even brace for another assault, Burningpaw was on top of him again, tugging hard on an ear. This was his favorite game of all.
"H-hey...!!" sucking in his breath to suppress the soaring pain. Is this how 'play fighting' should be like? A sharp jab to the ribs sent him stumbling back, tripping over on his big doofy paws the tom groaned. Powderpaw laid low, ears pinned back giving him the hint of surrender but of course, his brother didn't care about that. Once again, the weight fell upon him as Burningpaw leapt on top, roughly tugging on his large ears. The orange tabby gritted his teeth, standing on all fours trying to shake him off with unease glazed across his gaze. "Hah, okay Burningpaw. It..it really hurts now," he stuttered. "I give up-," the words got stuck in his throat once feeling a warmth trickled down his fur. Hesitatingly, he stared down witnessing a thick flow of scarlet seeping between his paws triggering a panic. "I'm bleeding!" he screeched trying to loosen his brother's grip.

One second he was alone next he was looking at the digging back of a child. That was a kit, what was a kit doing down here. A sniff. What was a wind clan kit doing down here?! Damn it this whole thing wasn’t good the kid could rat him out there where would he be?! And digging around without experience was a good way to collapse the tunnels, the kit could kill him!

Oh yeah and the kit could get hurt that too. Well nothing else to do, he needed to talk to the baby. And today was going so well….. “Heya kid fancy meeting you here. Mind getting your paws outta there before you kill us both please, that’d be great.” Ok maybe that was a little too much sarcasm for a baby “Soooooo how’d you get down here anyway, youre pretty far away from the camp you could get in trouble.” Sometimes kits were stupid if this was a young enough baby it wouldn’t notice the contradictions and they could get this squared away easy.

"Nothing that happened is your fault. Sometimes bad things just happen, we can do everything right and still it happens. I just..... want you to know that."
They went silent for a while, catching kits running about out of their peripheral vision. Sometimes they think they see Ashfeather's kits, so they decide maybe to make the conversation less heavy.
"Your kits names are Ravenkit and Whitekit, yes?"
The only name they remembered for certain was Dogkit. Hopefully Dogkit wasn't alone. Maybe if their sisters Peatkit and Fringekit were still in StarClan, they'd keep him company.

@TheNyanCatMinecart
Ashfeather took a deep, shaky breath at the cat’s words. It was... nice. Having a cat there who wanted to comfort her and make her feel better. As good as it was, it didn’t stop the grief from going away. At Shockholly’s next question, her undersized ears perked up a little and she turned to face the cat more fully.
“Y-yeah,” she meowed. “A-and there w-was Dogkit.” Saying the name sent a pang of grief through her at the memory of her little bundle of joy. Now she only had these two.

(Sorry for the short reply!)

Strange kit looking for a home? Twilightstar looked the kit over, she looked a little malnourished and could probably use something to eat.
"I might," she replied, with a curious blink of her eye. Did some queen leave their kit on their own again?
"Where did you come from and who are you?"

RAVENKIT

raven or ravenkit was exited she had found a place to stay she had found help. but she still needed to find her brother storm "theres on-" she was cut off as she was about to tell twilightstar about storm. she heard her name being called she looked over and there was storm "storm? where did you come from." she looked back over to twilight star "this is my brother storm, storm this is twilightstar" she had a lot to tell her brother but first she had to tell him her new name "my names raven kit now, right twilightstar?" she was so happy yes she still missed her mom but everything was gong great. @Moonraven

Twilightstar's nose's twitched as she picked up the new scent drawing closer. As she was about to urge the kit back to the camp, another cat appeared and raced over to Ravenkit. She watched the interaction with a puzzled glint in her gaze until Ravenkit introduced her.
"Yup," The she-cat affirmed the molly's words while trying to gauge Storm's age on visual alone.
"You didn't tell me you had a sibling?"

But he had to do his best to seem as though he wasn't aware, or Deadpool would be in even more trouble. The patchy brindled tabby gives his snowy chest a couple of licks to smooth his fur.

"I'm sorry," he mutters, not really having an excuse or even a valid explanation as to why he didn't know better. What had been the case, was he imagined finding their camp before they found him. Thinking on it now, Nettlespark was glad he hadn't managed to do that and drop himself into a pit of vipers.

"Everything you've said makes total sense, Twilightstar..." The tom struggles to put together any sensible form of petition for himself. He needed to persuade her, but had he even totally persuaded himself? "My name is Nettlespark. I was born to ShadowClan, family's in ShadowClan. I was proud of being ShadowClan. I admired Icestar and how she lived for us, what she did for us. She was strong, and great, and sharp. And after what we, ShadowClan, did for you and your Clan, your way of thanking us was to raid us like foxes." There was an edge to his tone that he hadn't meant to let slip, but the young tom appeared to be speaking very openly. His voice sounded almost raw.

"But she made a mistake in stripping Beastspark of his position, and then she was murdered in front of us all. Now her daughter's turned ShadowClan into rogues, and I..." He cuts off abruptly, his speech having grown quicker up to this point. The tom meets Twilightstar's gaze. "I don't want to forsake what I am, what I was born to be and will die as. I don't think I can be a proud warrior in ShadowClan right now. I can't be a warrior at all outside. And screw Lionstar and Buckstar. I've come to you before. I've helped WindClan before. More than once. Maybe I can... I can... Tsh, I don't know! Redeem a little bit of that lost image for the ShadowClan I was proud of, in your eyes. Maybe I can come here and be a part of something again, and change your mind about some of those cats you hate so much."

Nettlespark's voice had risen by now, and he falls silent after his passionate speech to take a couple of deep breaths. In this time, he studies the lilac she-cat, his dusky green eyes gleaming with excess energy that now began to cool off and fizzle away. He takes another slow, long breath and sighs. "I'll live quietly here. I'll learn to run, to fight, to provide... Just give me a chance. The cat you hate, the ShadowClanner you hate, isn't here. And the one who loathes you isn't here, either."
[ @Moonraven ]

At least this one apologized, most went on and on or bypassed the whole apology when it came to finding they had done something wrong. Or maybe she just assumed that he, like his former clan, had a huge ego and thus were beneath taking responsibility for his actions. It easily could have been that assumption.
Twilightstar did her best to listen to Nettlespark's words without too much judgment. It was common sense, even with how troublesome the leader had been, that she had some of her clanmates actually like her, Icestar that was. If she had been a little less bullhead, maybe things could have turned out differently. The second bit, though, was very hard for her to be impartial with.
She could feel the fur along the base of her spine start to bristle at his accusation that WindClan had been in the wrong. Maybe they had been, but Twilightstar didn't think so. She listened to the rest of his words with one ear flattened against her head and her tail tip twitching with pent-up aggravation.
"You still speak as if you're a ShadowClan cat." Twilightstar swiftly pointed out in a displeased tone of voice.
"Don't presume that I have a hatred for ShadowClan, I have nothing against that Clan personally, it's the terrible leaders that I don't like. As sharp and great as Icestar had been, she blinded by her pride and her need to prove her strength, and she let you and ShadowClan suffer for it." Nettlespark still carried resentment for the raid, still had ShadowClan's prideful ways, which was understandable he had grown up in ShadowClan.
"I'm not interested in your redemption or some image you're trying to fix. I'm trying to not judge you based on you where you came from, but you are making it very hard not to. You say you don't loath me and that you aren't ShadowClan anymore, but your earlier words contradict you, you still embrace ShadowClan's teachings on pride and it sounds like what happened in the raid still rubs your fur wrong." She didn't like it not one bit. Even with the flame of his words dimming into a small ember, it didn't make Twilightstar feel any better. What would need to be said to spark it up again? He seemed still to hold ShadowClan dear and Twilightstar didn't trust that.
"I have no interest in your pride or your proud ways, I have little to no interest in strength or fighting either. When I hear one of my cats has done something wrong, I ensure that they are punished for it, reassure that it won't happen again, or trying to work out the misunderstanding. I do not pass the blame to another nor do I act like my clan did nothing wrong for the sake of my ego." Twilightstar wasn't sure if he'd ever understood what Icestar did was wrong and selfish. She wasn't going to try and change his mind, he had his thoughts and she had hers.
"My clan is important to me. I have and will take responsibility for their deeds, good or bad. They trust me with their safety, and unfortunately, I don't think it's safe to bring you into WindClan. I like to believe every cat deserves a second chance, but not if it puts my clanmates at risk. You may have helped my clan in the past but at the root, it seems like your a ShadowClan cat and I don't think I can change that." Nettlespark was genuine in his endeavor, but she really was worried about how he'd handle WindClan and her ways compared to ShadowClan.

She had no idea what Shadowclan was, but she got the gist that this was a group of not savage wild cats, but there were some savage wild cats,” ...Would I be safer if I stayed with you, so those savage cats you call Shadowclan don’t get me?” she asked her eyes starting to grow wide in concern. Who does she think she is just renaming me like that.

Twilightstar tried not to laugh at the kit's answer while she reminded herself just who it was she was dealing with. Bunny had no clue what dangers lurked out here. She'd most certainly either freeze by nightfall or get snatched by a predator if she just sat and wait, but all she was worried about was being hungry.
"I would like to think you'd be much safer with me than sitting her waiting and dying of hunger, Bunny." Twilightstar mewed with a shake of her head.
"You can come back to my Clan, WindClan, there are enough kits and queens there to help take care of you. You won't get to live there for free of course, you'll have to learn and train, you have to listen to me, and naturally you'll need a new name."

What a ruckus! Twilightstar growled to herself as she slipped out of some overgrowth. The leader shook out her as she gazed at Featherfur.
"Lost?" Her tone was calm as her gaze slide over the molly's checking for any wounds.

“Twilightstar, can I talk to you?”

The relaxed molly sniffed at the prey on the food pile, scowled at how low it was. She was going to need to see about fixing this, somehow. The she-cat swung her head in the direction of her as a molly walked over. Heathernose, it's been a bit since she had last seen her.
"I hope that whatever you want to speak about has to do with where you've been." Heathernose didn't seem to have obtained any visible wounds, thankfully, she didn't smell like a two-leg and honestly had lost WindClan's scent some time ago.

There... there was another cat in here? No but weren't they alone? They had to be alone because Heronkit for sure didn't remember that another cat had followed them in here so how had this other cat just appeared in front of them? They'd not given permission for this either and so the tall but skinny grey kit fluffed up their fur and went over to confront whoever this was.. they smelled Windclan but you could never be too sure! So Heronkit, with no care for their private space just stuck their nose into the other cat's ear and gave one sniff... yes. Windclan. Good. They were safe for now... or

"You're not going to take me back to camp are you? I really don't want to go back to camp!"
Ok, big evil cat was not going to send them back to camp but put an end to their tunnel adventure? No... that wouldn't work would it? No! They wanted to make their tunnel all the way back to the nursery so they could go have fun every day. "I WALKED down here! On my own FOUR LEGS... how else would've I've gotten down here?" And then... hearing their belly rumble Heronkit was unable to not question, "Do you have milk?"

Yes Ma'am. ~Feather-fur knew that voice , that soft but stern voice of her leader. But she dared question them.. She really had no vision so it wouldn't hurt to ask~ Are you Twilight-Star? If so I am lost and cant seem to find camp. ~Feather-fur tried to look in the direction of her leader's voice~

Nettlespark was genuine in his endeavor, but she really was worried about how he'd handle WindClan and her ways compared to ShadowClan.

She was hard to get through, that was for sure. But what did he expect? Nettlespark lowers his eyes from her, listening to her carefully. Perhaps he was missing some crucial sliver of information somewhere in her words, in her stance. Something he had to see and respond to.

"Icestar was proud, she was greedy and bullheaded," the tom says slowly, thinking. "She had bad ideas just as she had good ideas. I admired her perseverance greatly. And even though you seem to think ill of me for it, I won't feel bad for still feeling proud of that. I can't pretend that I've forgotten where I came from. I can't act like it means so little to me." He becomes quiet again, and for a moment appears a little unfocused.

He was standing before Twilightstar, the leader of WindClan, going on in some argument he'd started himself on his former Clan. But... What for? The tom was being foolish now and he'd realized it, perhaps too late. ShadowClan was his birthplace but hadn't it always felt hollow? Empty? Nettlespark's gladdest moments had all seemed to revolve around...

"Deadpool," he mews lamely, unintentionally speaking her name aloud. Nettlespark doesn't even appear to realize he'd had such a slip of the tongue either, not for a sizable pause. Since the moment he'd seen her, heard her speak, sat with her, life in ShadowClan felt different. The empty spaces his family members had all left no longer distracted him. Gatherings became essential to attend. Border patrols, or more typically unofficial walks, sharpened the hyper-aware tom's senses. Discovering Irisflame's relationship with Breezefeather led him to finding a secret confidante in the former medicine cat, and... It suddenly hits him that he'd been standing there for some time, after audibly and clearly giving Twilightstar her Clanmate's name for seemingly no reason.

"The Clanmate of yours I'd helped once escape from Twolegs. My patrol brought her back, and Icestar let her heal in ShadowClan. I brought her to the Waterbarn while you took shelter from coyotes. I've gone to every Gathering I could get to just to talk to her for a few minutes. When she was over the moon about getting an apprentice, she told me." And Whiskernose, but that was beside the point here. "When your Cowpaw came to ShadowClan and assigned to me, she's the one I went to first." Besides, well, the rest of his Clanmates who observed the meeting.

His pelt had begun to heat up, and again as he spoke more fervently his voice rose. "The raid bothered me so much because I couldn't fight!" The warrior finally exclaims. "I refused to fight her- I refused to fight any of the cats she spoke so kindly of. She loves you all and it screwed me up because I'm a good warrior! I've loved carrying out my duties, believing in them, believing in what I was doing. And that night I couldn't. No, I- I wouldn't. Maybe you'll think worse of me, all I'll ask of you is to not think worse of her. I love Deadpool. I wouldn't fight her, or WindClan. Your Clan who attacked mine by surprise on a night of peace. I couldn't get my thoughts in order for days. I love her so much. She's so weird and special and dear."

"If you think I'm a danger, then put me under observation," he pleads. "You don't know what I am or who I am. I never knew myself until I met Deadpool. I want her, I want the chance to do it right. I want the chance to get to know her properly, without a time limit, without a border that I'm not even fighting you over. I'm not a ShadowClan cat right now. I'm just... Just..." Stammering to silence, Nettlespark sighs.

"If you choose to send me away today, Twilightstar, just know that I won't relent. I'll come back again, to talk to you. To ask to join. To talk to her, see her, be with her. And then my pleas to you will be about joining the family I've started." Sure, Nettlespark. Because threatening to make a queen of one of her warriors to her FACE was intelligent. But behind the sheer stupidity of the threat, there was a startling note of desire he'd failed to realize to this point.

As though he were trying to recover his case (which was surely lost by now) he dips his head deeply to the female. "I swear that I would devote my life to this. Through and through. I swear it."

The sandy tom took a deep breath to steady himself and, though the hum of energy under his pelt never left, he managed to calm himself a little. “Hallowstep and Crowpaw both did their job very well.” He began, trying to find a gentler way to push through his next information. “While we were out on patrol however, we noticed... well, we noticed some ShadowClan scum had decided to move a stretch of border. Crowpaw did a very good job on making sure they knew where the right border was but... I’m sure you would like to know what kind of antics ShadowClan is trying to pull.” His voice rumbled, shooting from different aspect to different aspect of the patrol quickly.
At least the Shadowclan patrol reported in this time... and he was quite happy at that. Nodding as Fidgetfreckle begun his report he made sure to note down that this one was reliable and doing their job quite good, well in Breezy's view any cat that managed to report in a patrol were doing a good job. Crowpaw and Hallowstep, two names of cats that might need some praise later on, this patrol most certainly were doing their job and doing it well. Yet now the issue came up, and a border violation? Shaking his head and taking in a deep breath he nodded gratefully, "Thank you for reporting it in Fidgetfreckle. I'll make sure to let Twilightstar know of the border movement for sure."

As she spotted the tom, she rushed over to him. "Hello, Breezyfeather. Our group has returned from the hunting patrol we had been assigned." - That part was quite obvious because the warrior was standing right there - "We caught a few preys, which we set in the fresh-kill pile already."

Ahhh! Good! A hunting patrol returned. Breezefeather couldn't help but let a wide smile show up on his face. Prey, and a good bunch of that. "Good job Snailspark. Thank you for the contribution and see about getting some rest you've been particularly good with patrols and I really appreciate that. You showed up as a good role model for those two apprentices and I'll make sure that your reliability is acknowledged."

She didn't think so really, instead staying near Hailpaw in a bit of a stiff position, trying to be respectable and useful. She bet Russetpaw had never given a patrol report, not that she would have the courage to say that to his face with a haha thrown in. @Arie @Estelle
Ok, two apprentices reporting the same patrol. Oh... as Hailpaw dropped in the name of who'd sent them, Breezefeather understood why they'd been sent instead of the warrior going. That warrior was one mess of a cat but at least it sounded like the Thunderclan border was secure and that it was well taken care of. Stale scent markers was nothing new though with Thunderclan. "Thank you, you two. You did a good job reporting and I'm sure you'll both make wonderful warriors, you're already doing a better job than some warriors."

He was unable to complete the joke fully but nevertheless smiled gently at the two apprentices before squaring up his shoulders... It was time to put on the unrelenting mask of a harsh deputy who had stuff to talk to his clanmates about. He didn't like it but it had to be done and the clan couldn't just expect to get off scot free.

Now... The Riverclan border patrol had failed to report in and once again, he would first speak with the patrol leader why they had failed to report in. He would much rather prefer they reported in late than not at all. "Dimtail! [ @Jessica1917 ] Do you have an explanation as to why you failed to report in? I would appreciate if you told me if it got done or not, cause I know you might've done it but if you did, please take the time to report it as well."

And that was the only border patrol that failed... not bad to be honest. Now to the hunting patrols, which only one had managed to report in... dissapointing but at least they had some food to go in and share among the clan but he didn't doubt that there were clanmates that was going to go hungry.

"Eldersky [ @implimm ] , Wolffang [ @TheNyanCatMinecart ] and Stripeseed [ @Snow Carrot ] do you all have an excuse as to why your patrols failed to report in? I don't know wherever or not the prey pile has been filled yet and with leafbare approaching there is no excuse to slack. I need to know wherever you've done your patrol so please, report them in to me or expect punishment for repeated offenses." He still really hated this part of the job but it had to be done... or else he would be failing in his place as deputy and he couldn't let the clan down like that.

At least the battle patrol had the competence to report to him that they would be late and that was something. He just needed any sort of sign, if they were late it was fine, if they took some extra time it was all fine but what he needed was communication. He didn't know if they needed extra time if they didn't tell him, wasn't aware they'd gotten a slow start if it wasn't communicated across to him.

Default Re: WindClan Patrol Place

Eldersky had, in all honesty, forgotten that it was necessary to tell Breezefeather what she'd done upon returning home. Truthfully the hunt was rushed, but she did bring back a plump field mouse. And Lionpaw got to watch! But when she hears the deputy call for her, she winces. "Oooooohhhh..."

Skipping over to the old guy, she smiles pleasantly, though the cringe was still visible in her expression. "Hey Breezefeather!" she mews lightly.

"I, uh, forgot this was a step! Lionpaw and I went to the cliffs like you suggested. I took a mouse home. If you want, I can go ask around to see if anyone ate it yet?"
