ThunderClan: Life Before 2023's Sinkhole

The tom had been sitting quietly throughout the meeting, observing the naming and the antics of his Clanmates. Still, the atmosphere felt rather tense, which was strange for Buckstar. Given the circumstances however, perhaps it was not so alien a feeling.

After long enough, the older tom's reserved thoughts receive an answer. Buckstar addresses Frostbreeze, and the stormy-furred warrior's eyes turn to her. As she begins to realize that her severe actions had severe consequences, her shrill voice rises. He could tell she'd noticed her slight slip of a hold on the situation she was in. Inhaling slowly, the warrior- No, the medicine cat moves to step over to her. But before he can, Frostpaw's eyes widen wildly, and a delicate curl of smoke unfurls out of her fur. Copper eyes flash with alarm, but Rainywhisker's surprise is silent, and he doesn't say anything before the she-cat flees the camp in a hurry.

Rainywhisker frowns. At least she could have acted concerned for her Clanmates, if there were a fire... Flicking his tail, his eyes slide onto Meadowvalley. "I appreciate the congratulations," he rasps. He would have his work cut out for him with Frostpaw.

Looking up at Buckstar, he nods curtly. "I think Mosswhisper will do fine at fetching her back. Having all eyes on her, it's probably just overwhelming. Please, overlook this."

Lightkit sat in a shadowy corner of the nursery, scowling. He was so bored. It wasn't fair to keep the kits cooped up in camp. There was barely any personal space for him. He groomed his pelt lazily.

Tawnykit just remained where she was, giggling slightly from Frostpaw’s sudden apprentice ceremony, but she remained where she was, looking up. (Congrats! @implimm )

…demotion. So that's what this meeting was really about. Though, Lionpaw barely prevented his fur from prickling at the name. He made a mental note to stay as far away as possible from the new medicine cat apprentice later—her existence alone insulted the prefix that she bore! As another tomcat approached, the golden-furred feline nodded in greeting. "Morning, Beetlepaw!" he meowed cheerfully despite his conflicting inner emotions.

"Rainywhisker! Rainywhisker!" Chanted Duststrike. Dawntail chimed in from the nursary.

Lionpaw's eyes widened, surprised that the trick actually worked. He took his chance and swiftly scrambled back onto his paws, hiding his slightly tired breathing, which was another he picked up in the wild. If you looked strong, fit, and ready to go, then less cats would dare attack you. "I trained myself," grinned. "I've been a loner since I was born. Being able to fight is pretty important out there." Despite that, clan cats rarely complimented his skills. They were simply jealous that their training regimens didn't cover true tactics, the abyssinian bet. Frosty told him the same thing, that he fought and walked like a windrunner, but the windrunners kicked out the shadowdwellers, so he took that as a good thing.

"Can I repeat?" Lionpaw echoed in slight bemusement. He nodded in an affirmative. "Yeah, I guess so. I said: 'Morning. You're Cedarleaf, right?'" The tomcat watched his clanmate curiously, then tapped his tail on the ground in enlightenment. "Oh, you're deaf!" the apprentice realized. Then, sheepishly, "Ah, I wasn't trying to offend you or anything—I just talk out loud sometimes."

Thunderkit was runnign around. He was making a racket, and throwing around moss, but no one cared. He could do anything and no one would care. They would be too scared to, because they know that if they say no to Thunderkit, they'd have to face an Duststrike. (Open)

Bramblefire liked that news. She didn't really like Frostbreeze, no Frostpaw, and Rainywhisker seemed like a good choice. ( @implimm, congrats!)

Valleypaw padded out of the apprentice's den just as Buckstar started an announcement about Frostbreeze and Rainywhisker, stopping for a moment to just listen quietly. She couldn't help a small snicker as she realized Frostbreeze had gone and gotten herself in trouble. Completely expected with that she-cat's attitude, it had just been a matter of when. She padded closer to the Thunderwillow then, purpose in her step, raising her voice to be heard above the clan. "Does that mean I get a new mentor?" She called up to Buckstar. "Rainywhisker had originally been mine." Rainywhisker had disappeared, for StarClan knows why, only to come back and be given another role in the clan and Val was sick of waiting for Buckstar to assign her a new mentor. So, she'd just take her opportunity to take action now.
