Ashenpaw was lounging in the shade on the outskirts of camp, his body leisurely stretched out. It was morning, right as the sun was rising, and he was tired beyond belief. All he really wanted to do was go back to his nest, but no. He just had to get because who knows why. He clicked his tongue in irritation, lifting a paw to rest his head on. The toms growling stomach brought his attention back to the real world, and he inwardly groaned as he noticed that the fresh kill pile was nearly empty, with only a few pitiful mice left. No sir, he was not going to eat that! For a moment, he debated going out hunting on his own, but the annoying calls coming from inside the warriors den interrupted his marvelous idea. Wow, what an idiot. It was barely even light out, and some mouse-brain was yowling loud enough for the whole clan to hear? Talk about stupid. Though...he did assume that going hunting would logically mean that he could scope out the best piece of prey, so he seriously debated tagging along. @BreadTurtle (rose can bug him about going if you want haha)

Tallfern exhaled in relief, letting out a breathy chuckle. She was worried that she had made a pivotal blunder by criticizing the austere senior warrior, but Adderfang seemed to confirm her assessment anyway. She paused, however, emerald eyes softening in taciturn apology as she noticed a hint of bitterness in the cyan eyed warrior’s tone.
“I’m sure it isn’t easy to train under her. You’re a greater cat than I, I probably would’ve given up and become a loner. It’s good that it’s behind you though, and you didn’t carry on her tradition with your own apprentices.” She commented, pausing to contemplate how easily a younger version of herself would’ve broken under Leopardstrike’s standards. She shook her head lightly and pushed the thought aside, tufted ears pricked as she wandered through the labyrinth of towering pines. She brightened at Adderfang’s final proposition, “Ooh, I love a good story, do tell!” She chimed warmly.

"It wasn't even anything but stubbornness in the end and a drive to prove her wrong above all else." Adderfang snorted but her tail flicked pleasantly, eyes narrowing mischievously as her grim became almost smug.

"Now this isnt a story she'll ever have told anyone and I cant say how'll she take it if you ever repeat this anywhere near her but my warrior assessment was an interesting one.
Near the end of my training we'd had a rather large argument and I refused to let her teach me anymore, going off on my own and asking other warriors instead out of spite. Sure I was trained by her for most of the time but she was rather vocally doubtful that I'd pass or that I would do something and ruin my chances during the claws out battle session against her in front of Icestar, and well, she rather got a shock. I had gone through a massive growth spurt right before my assessment and surprise surprise I was far larger then her and used that to my advantage rather brutally. I refused to dodge, gained a good few scar for it, see the one on my tail fair warning she bites in combat, and I liked to think I tossed her around like a mouse. It didn't win the fight but while she was chewing on my tail I managed to get my teeth in her scruff and in the end it was declared I'd passed just to get us separated." She broke into chuckles at this, the whole thing wasn't exactly perfect, at her skill level then a draw was the best Adderfang could manage against her mentor but with how badly Leopardstike no doubt expected her to do the 'win' was sweet. That vicious bite had earned the large molly her warrior name and being pulled around like a kitten by your apprentice in front of the clan leader was just perfect.

Tallfern brightened in amusement, “Haha, well done!” She chimed, admittedly gaining some secondary smug satisfaction invisioning Leopardstrike bested by her own apprentice.
“Well, when you push your students to fight like lions, you can hardly be surprised when they do.” She retorted, shaking her head a bit. She thought for a moment, imagining a young cat—imagining Adderfang—toiling beneath the weight of Leopardstrike’s unfair expectations. She sighed almost mournfully.
“I know that...cats like Leopardstrike are ideal ShadowClan warriors—detached, blindly loyal, ambitious at all costs...I know she would, and has killed. But...sometimes I wonder if that mentality does more harm than good.” She mused aloud. Tallfern paused. She had made a genuine observation without diluting it with humor or dismissiveness. Where had that come from? She chuckled nervously, “Ah, there I go again...ever the traitor. Ignore me.” She requested lightly. Most of the clan knew she was rogue born, and any remarks regarding Clan life could easily be taken as disloyalty. She sighed heavily, hoping briefly that Adderfang did not see it that way.

RoseWhisper looked around for anyone who may have volunteered. "If anyone wants to come, meet me at the entrance of camp!" She yowled and went to sit down at the entrance, or, next to it. She didn't want any of the patrols getting mad at her. {Open for any cats who are interested!}

Smallthorn smirked as he was glad the Ashfur was finally apologizing. "Don't worry about it. I already forgave you, right?" he assured. He turned his gaze to focus on Ashfur next to him, searching his face for emotion. He grew concerned when he saw Ashfur's expression. "Is.. is something bothering you?" he carefully questioned. He didn't want to be too weird about it, but he was pretty concerned as he thought they were finally starting to reconcile.

ashfur needed to tell somebody about pine and it was killing him " why dont we go in the forest ill tell you there" ashfur said. he trusted smallthorn and pine would be here soon anyway. at least he hoped

Smallthorn widened his eyes at Ashfur and didn't speak. What could possibly be so secretive that he has to bring me to the forest? And why is he telling me of all cats? "Oh.. alright then? Is there something wrong? Why do we need to go into the forest?" Smallthorn questioned. He realized he was probably asking too many questions, and decided to stand up anyway, stretching a bit. He walked a few paces towards the exit of the clearing anyways, looking at Ashfur.
