WindClan: Life Before 2023's Fire

Songlight whisked by her apprentice, her whiskers flying back and her ears pinned to her head. Running was the one thing she was good at, because of her suuuuuuper loooong leeeeegs. And Hornetpaw seemed to be pretty good at it too, darting amongst the heather stems, launching herself around each gorse bush.. Wow, she'd scored the apprentice lottery! Wait, was that a thing? How did you even get apprentices? Did you just ask Twilightstar? Something like that?

She got so caught up in her own head, the she-cat began to slow down to conserve energy to keep her one brain cell pumping(also because she quite tired). Songlight stopped and let her thoughts trail off, haphazardly watching her apprentice gallop forward. Time seemed to slow down, she could see Hornetpaw's legs moving so slowly. It was like syrup oozing over a rock, like a leaf being whisked along the ground with an extremely light breeze. For a second, all Song could here would the noise of a droplet slapping onto the water - but magnified, somehow. Boooooom. Driiiip. Also, superslow. It was just the weirdest experience, like one of those things that were half-dreams half-relality.

She trotted forward to where Hornetpaw had stopped, a small smile glowing on her face. "Hi," she meowed eventually after a short pause. "You were super fast, I was kinda surprised! But.. I guess I shouldn't have been, considering the fact that we're both WindClan cats!" After that, she ducked her head in embarrassment. "Did I already say that? Yeah, I probably did say that before our run - wasn't it fun? - , I do that a lot. I probably shouted WindClan pride or something. No, it's not like I don't have WindClan pride! It's just that.. it's weird, when I repeat things! Because I know it, but at the same time I don't.. " She turned her head excitedly. "I know! Why don't we explore the territory?!"

Gullpaw thought for a moment, it was likely a futile attempt but it was worth a shot,” I’ll join Shadowclan, if you’ll take me, Windclan clearly will fall to your might, and I don’t wish to be a part of the failed clan.” she meowed. That wasn’t fully the truth, she intended to temporarily join Shadowclan and as a Shadowclanner search for Twilightstar, if she could find Twilightstar, she could sneak Twilightstar across the border, or secretly inform Windclan of her location. It would do for now.

(Quick Question, is the clan going to be renamed Bunnyclan in tribute to the nickname Dawnstar gave it? If so I'm on Shadowclan's side. JK, Dimtail is gonna try and nope the Shadowclanners so hard.)
(Ooh, pointing out the fact Windclan unfortunetally needs to be rescued a bunch. Hittin a little below the belt there, Dawnstar. Then again, that is probably the least of their problems, so maybe I shouldn't be worried about that.)

Dimtail stood with barely concealed rage as Dawnstar, DAWNSTAR of all cats, the LEADER OF SHADOWCLAN stood ON TOP of the BREEZEROCK! Calmly announcing she had killed their leader (only once) deputy, and a warrior, and was keeping their leader captive, using her to THREATEN WINDCLAN!!! What did she THINK was going to happen? Peaceful turnover of power? Hardly.
Dimtail's claws crept out of their sheaths as everyone continued their jabbering, the complete pandemonium of the initial realization that Twilightstar was gone coming back with the added bonus that this time there was actual proof it was Shadowclan.
As an apprentice sued for all out warfare, a warrior stepped up suggesting that they all cede control of their territory to Shadowclan cause why not. What was that guy doing in Windclan? They certeinly didn't seem to want to fight for the clan.
By this time, Dimtail had murderously glared his way closer to Dawnstar. He noticed a small kit babbling something about Starclan and Dawnstar. He reached out and gently nabbed the kit, bringing him safely out of Dawnstar's reach. Who knew how that physco of a leader would react.
Dimtail leaned down to the kit's level. "Hey, kid, I don't know what you mean by Starclan, but that's Dawnstar, from Shadowclan. And Shadowclan doesn't just want to merge with us, they want to take us over. Dawnstar can be pretty scary and mean, so you should probably stay away from her, ok?"
The warrior hoped the kit understood what he meant. Dawnstar was a dangerous cat on her best days, and this obviously wasn't one of them. She was taking over the entire clan by herself? Then again, as far as he knew, she still had all 9 lives. And even if they eventually won, who knew how many she would take down with her? @BILL.

Rosebriar's eyes grew big. Had her silly ears heard correctly? Was Dawnstar, tyrannical leader of ShadowClan, taking over?! How many scars would she gain from this? But that was far from her biggest concern, for once. Even though she hadn't liked the high ranks, she hadn't thought that this... this would happen.
"You can't!" she yowled, shaking, then looked at Skunkblaze. "She can't! We can't merge with... with ShadowClan!" Living with those stinking furballs, under horrible leadership... she couldn't bear the thought.

Skunkblaze's eyes grew wide, and seemed to continue to widen as the shocking speech continued. Kill Dawnstar and don't get Twilightstar. Unfortunately not much of an option. They needed their leader. Resist and Twilightstar dies. Also not good. But submit to Shadowclan........how could THAT be the best option? The molly wished she had the answers, but she didn't. Her voice hesitant, she mewed But Twilightstar? We can't let her die! They couldn't do that!

Wishpool had no idea what was going on, but it was scary. She was worried about submitting to Shadowclan, how was that going to work out at all. Maybe they should let Dawnstar take Twilightstar? She was one cat, there were so, so many in the clan who might die if Dawnstar was in charge. But if they did submit and were well behaved, maybe they could get Twilightstar back and THEN kill the badger? She didn't know what to do, and in her indecision settled for sitting on her haunches, deciding to react rather than initiate.

Thornpaw was terrified. Plainly terrified. She couldn't stay here, be beaten down by the new leader over and over as her poor skills were revealed to all of the Shadowclanners, could she? But she had been living in Windclan for so long.......could she? She couldn't be a traitor! But was it traitorous if your clan was taken over and you left to not die? Where else would she go? Riverclan were savages, and Thunderclan didn't seem nice either really, she would have to become a loner! Which was ALSO completely unappealing. She decided to hang around for a while. If it got bad, she was leaving.

Deadpaw may have been an aggressive cat, but she wasn't stupid. Stupid cats were her LEAST favorite, and Cedarpaw was promptly sorted into that category as they challenged Dawnstar. No way was any one, or even multiple cats winning a fight against the leader, least of all an apprentice. She wasn't going to fight, that would insure certain death, but she was also worried. The dark, large leader seemed like the type to be obsessed with strength, and her paw.....did not make her particularly strong. But she couldn't just leave, she had to stay with the clan. She needed to train though. There was no one to protect, but she wasn't going to be an idiot and get killed.
