Berryscorch was rather surprised to see Palepaw approaching her, considering they'd spoken perhaps only once before. Then again, Flyfur had disappeared a while back, so it made sense why the younger molly might be turning to other family members. "Yes, she was. What's up?" The apprentice's tone seemed to carry a hint of hesitation, which led her to wonder whether everything was alright. She sat upright, ears perked, to indicate she was listening.
However, as Palepaw launched into her description, Berryscorch recognized almost immediately the place she was speaking of. "I know that place... I'll explain everything, but..." Her voice lowered to a hushed whisper, eyes darting around to make sure none of their clanmates were within earshot. "We can't let anyone hear us. And you must not tell anyone else about this conversation. Understand?"

Giving her only a slight moment to respond, she continued on. "The place you described is called the Dark Forest." She didn't know if Palepaw had ever heard of it, though it was unlikely, considering she hadn't been able to recognize it on her own. "It's essentially the opposite of StarClan - the afterlife for the cats who were malicious and evil in their lifetimes. They recruit apprentices to learn more advanced and brutal battle moves in their dreams. I used to train there as an apprentice, and I know there were others, both in this clan and the rest, who trained there as well. As for that cat you saw... she probably intended to take you on as her apprentice, but you must've woken up before she got too far."

Figuring that was enough of a basic explanation, the molly paused to let Palepaw soak everything in. "Does that clear things up a bit?"

Berryscorch may only be her sister by adoption, but Palepaw didn't see the difference. Flyfur had loved her, so that was what had mattered, made them family.
She felt safe as the older molly sat beside her and felt at ease when her face lit up with recognition as she described the place.
When Berryscorch lowered her voice, she leaned closer, ears turned to her, listening intently.
"I promise I won't tell anyone," her voice was just as hushed in her reply.

She listened aptly as the cream and white warrior told her about the Dark Forest and what it was, it's inhabitants, and the implications of being contacted by a cat of the Dark Forest.
She wasn't sure she qualified as evil or malicious. Ambitious, for sure. More than anything she wanted to become the best warrior she possibly could, and protect her Clanmates. She wouldn't turn her nose up at the training, though, however brutal it may be, if it meant she could achieve that dream.
But.... not only had she not gotten far in her conversation with this cat, she hadn't seen her since. It's been a few days since the dream. Surely, she would have come back to her in that time, unless she deemed her not worthy of her time and effort, saw that at her core, Palepaw was not fit to be her apprentice.
"I had the dream a few days ago, and.... I haven't seen her since. Did she decide she doesn't want to train me? Am I not worthy?"
If she had received the training as an apprentice, couldn't the warrior teach her instead?
"If she doesn't come back to me.... could you teach me instead, please?"
Oh, how she had wanted to become privy to that knowledge and train with these cats.

Finally! It seemed to be warming up! The snoh was melting and the sky was a little less dreary. It was still windy and kind of sad, but at least he wasn’t freezing cold. The siamese was currently... well, lounging. He was lounging outside of the warrior’s den, generally just kind of hanging out. Honestly, Beansprout didn’t have much to do. The general hustle and bustle of camp was... calming? In a way. He enjoyed just watching the Clan work like a... what was that saying? A well coiled my sheen? No.... never mind.

The black and white she-cat padded into the camp with a couple of small mice in her jaws. It was a poor catch, but at least she got something. Maybe she could go back to Lionsrange and find that mouse den. She had been there a while back. She had found a nest of mice. They might no longer be there as she had scared them off, but it didn't hurt to check.

Heronflight placed her kill in the pile before heading towards the warriors den. maybe she could take a nap. It sounded good to her. Well that was when she saw Beansprout. The molly padded over to him. "Mind if I sit next to you?", she asked. She didn't want to if he didn't want her to. She had respect.

Sedgestorm had recently heard that the beach in RiverClan territory had shells. Although they had spent some time there before Lionstorm had found them, they hadn't explored it in full or seen anything so marvelous.
He wanted to explore that and possibly bring back some treasures for her, but decided instead she might rather go there with him than be given an empty token.
He wasn't quite sure how shells were found, in they were buried or simply laying around.

He looked for her in the clearing, whiskers twitching in excitement, practically buzzing with energy. He really hoped she was in the mood for exploration.
If not, they could wait for another day. It was always there to take time for.
"Flamebriar," he called, softly, eagerly.
"I have somewhere I want to explore with you. I recently heard the beach has something called shells. I heard they're pretty and I wanted to find some with you, if you were up for it."

(This is a very late response, but I'm finally returning to this site and wondered if I could continue with Vimi's joining process?)

The she-cat's fur bristled with initial indignation and swiftly following, anxiety. His question! Why did she want to join RiverClan?"I-- ah, I..." She racked her brains. She had to get control over herself. Finally, the feline stood straighter, trying to look the tom in the eyes. "I need a purpose. My life as a kittypet was good, but..." She dragged a claw through the dirt in frustration. The long pent-up words weren't spilling out as she had hoped-- more like trickling. Scratch that. They weren't flowing at all.

Breathe, Vimi. Breathe.

"I wanted a place where I could be a part of something bigger than myself. And I want to fight for something that will last. A cat isn't meant to be trapped under the reign of some furless, bumbling animal. Cats should be free to hunt and to live. And since RiverClan is the closest Clan to my home, and I know how to swim, it seemed like the logical option. So... so..." She tried to make her expression hopeful, even though emotions like that didn't come easily to her. "If there's any way I could join RiverClan, I would be in your debt."

Struggling to keep her breathing under control, she finally looked away. There was no way Sootstar would let her join. Logically, she had nothing to bring to the table. She knew the Clan was big, and they didn't need her. What qualifications could she possibly have? Shouldn't it be hard to enter a Clan? She had to be incredibly presumptions for assuming she could just walk up and... beg to be let in. Logically she should walk away while she still could. Any one of these cats could shred her. Logically she never should have come here in the first place. She dug her claws into the sandy clearing floor and waited, tense, for the verdict.

Hmm.

Come to think of it, Lionstorm hadn't seen Sootfather or Stormlion in a long time. Over the last half-moon, he'd hardly seen a hair on either of them.. it was concerning.

RiverClan had been dying for a while, something he'd been aware of since shortly after his friend had taken the reins.. but he put it off, tried to be optimistic about things. It was tiring. Boring. Nothing happened anymore.

Looking around the clearing, checking under rocks and in bushes, he decided to swing by the leader's den to see if he could spy his buddy. The scent here was stale.
