Mistypaw nodded and stepped forward quietly, then pounced. It wasn't the nicest pounce, but it was still satisfactory. "Was that correct?"

Fawnkit glared at Frostpaw. "Why is that apprentice addressing the clan anyways? Even if they WERE the medicine cat. Besides we all know that's a lie", he meowed bravely but as he thought about it his confidence waivered as he turned to the cat closest to him. "It is a lie right?", he asked with a glimmer of fear in his eyes.

Ebonyfrost limped over to the medicine den, wincing with every step. The gaping wound on her side ached. It had stopped bleeding long ago, but it still hurt. When she finally reached a comfortable patch of moss, she lay down, heaving a sigh. She groaned.

"Alright," Mistypaw said, filling the information away. She tried again, and her pounce was a little better. Not perfect, but still better. She looked at her denmate hopefully. "How was that?"

Fernkit watched the elder named Blazingflower and the kit named Mosskit. He knew, by the eagerness of Mosskit, by the faraway gaze of Blazingflower, by the movements of their mouths, that there was a story. He wished he could hear, once again. After the accident, he had become deaf. Should I come to them? He knew he would not hear anything the elder would say, but he still wanted the feel of someone - anyone - by his side.

Kestrelflame watched this all unfold from the back of the group. Her yellow eyes narrowed to slits. Buckstar was killed again? How many lives was he going to lose in a moon? The calico found this ridiculous, their leader was being killed a bit too many times for her liking. She would study the two medicine cats. One almost smoking, which seem impossible to her. Cats would only smoke if they were on fire, which Frostpaw was not. The other, being accused of murder, had crimson-stained paws. Was Rainywhisker really so naive to leave blood on his paws?
Either way Kestrelflame found this mystery boring. It was one cat’s word against the other and frankly the young warrior trusted neither of them. Neither had posed a believable case and cats seemed more split between the two cats. Almost dividing the Clan. "Excuse me," She spoke standing up. "We have two stories from two cats both with compiling evidence against them. Are we supposed to just pick sides? No questions asked?" She asked, glancing around at her Clanmates that were all too quick to pick sides. "How are we to know that this is not some behind the scenes play where the two of you killed Buckstar and turned on each other? Rainywhisker, you have blood all over your paws, leaving a mess as you walk. That alone makes you a suspect for the murder of our leader. Frostpaw, you have always been in trouble it seems, getting demoted once before, additionally you seem to be producing some smoke like substance from your fur. The same thing that rolls out of the Leaders den now." Kestrelflame pointed out. Her yellow eyes shifted over to Eveningmist, who seemed to be as clueless about this situation as the rest of the Clan. Of course, the deputy would not be able to do much when she was not even around when Buckstar was killed. "Tell me, why should we believe either of you? I believe presenting factual evidence would be best for all of us. If neither of you can, should we not wait for Buckstar to wake and tell us what happened himself? He is the leader after all." The calico would suggest. She needed real facts, these cats were reacting off of emotions, which she understood but at the same time she did not care what someone felt about the subject. Kestrelflame wanted to know what happened and why. Not how some cat felt about it.

Nightpaw's mouth dropped open as she heard Rainywhisker. "What?" she tried to yowl, but all that came out was a surprised squeak. Frostpaw killed Buckstar? How many lives did he have left? What would happen to the apprentice medicine cat now? Surely he wouldn't be allowed to stay in the Clan after what he just did. She blinked suddenly as she saw the trail of blood on Rainwhiskers' paws. Why was there blood on him? Was Frostpaw telling the truth? Nightpaw's head swirled at the confusion. She looked up as Kestrelflame spoke up and nodded. That made sense. She didn't really trust either of them.
