She let out a long exhale as Fawnkit went off to explore. It's been . . . Different with him not around. But having Fawnkit around . . . Wel, it's made it bearable. I still find myself wondering why StarClan sent the rockslide to take him. It wasn't his time. she was almost in tears when she finished.

The tom set his normally held high head on top of the smaller she-cat's. It's fine. You know you can come talk to me any time you want. he said. His fluffy white fur stood out against the she-cat's light brown pelt.

Fawnkit's eyes widened as she saw her mothers tears, rushing over she ran straight into her stomach pressing close "whats wrong!? and dont say nothing i wanna know!!!"

Fawnkit's face formed a look of terror as she head this. Her father? he was...dead? a rockslide? fawnkit shook a little. maybe she shouldn't have asked. She pressed against her mother nuzzling her trying to comfort her.

She inburied herself from the fur and leaned down towards her kit. She licked the top of the kit's head and purred. It's fine. It'll be fine. she purred softly.

She nodded and said, Promise. If you want, I can take you to see your father's grave when you're old enough. she said. Maybe it was . . . time to move on. To remember her mate with happiness, to take on another mate when she meets the right tom. That's what she would have wanted for Rockytrail if it was her who died.

She smiled and purred. Fawnkit was so much like her father. So confident, so loving, so brave. She sighed and gave her daughter one last lick. Alright then. Are you ready to go back to the nursery? she asked.

The tom was relieved when the kit wanted to comfort her mother instead of crying about it herself. He got up and nuzzled his sister one last time before turning to leave.
