Poisonpaw took a second to bunch his muscles a bit more and lept. Whether good or bad was for his mentor to determine but when he landed he turned towards Thornclaw, finding himself crouching again. It had become comfortable in that position, his legs beginning to hurt if he stood up straight.

Standing up Thorn'claw strode over towards two piles of rocks, one pile was larger holding three or four large rocks the roughly came up to his shoulders, other pile was smaller and held five or six medium sized stones. " now ur next task is to push this pile of rocks," Thorn'claw gestured with his tail towards the smaller pile " over to the other side of the clearing, if u stop and take any breaks ur punishment will be served immediately. Understood?" Without waiting for an answer Thorn'claw sat back down and responded "good, now get going."

poisonpaw growled a bit but stood up straight and began to push the pile of rocks towards their destination. after an hour he was sweat-stained and in pain but he kept pushing or trying to push. He wasn't sure where he was but he was tired.

Glancing bac Thorn'claw waited for Poison'paw to catch up.

Poisonpaw followed his mentor, head drooping and tail dragging along the floor. He'd need a good cleaning when he got back to his nest but at the moment he was too tired to care. he just wanted to sleep.

“This maneuver works well if you find yourself pinned beneath an opponent. Make sure you’re laying on your back, paws pointed up towards their belly.” As he spoke, the deputy rolled onto his back and acted as though another cat had him pinned down. “From there, simply unsheathe your claws and rake them across their belly.” The name of the move basically spoke for itself, but he continued the demonstration anyways, swiping his claws through the air above him, as though he were aiming for another cat’s soft stomach. With a huff, the dark tabby rolled back into a sitting position and briskly meowed, “Show me what you’ve got.”

The belly rake was clearly no problem for his apprentice, as he performed it flawlessly on the first try. With that done, Finchwhisker began preparing to teach a few defensive operations, when Shadepaw piped up with a bright question. "Yes, I suppose every attack has a possible countermove. However, not everything has an official name or procedure. Often times, a counterattack may simply be a manuever you or your opponent comes up with on the spot." It may sound a bit confusing to the apprentice now, but he planned to further elaborate once they moved on to defense.

"Do keep in mind that the attacks I've shown you are just some of the basics that nearly every cat learns at some point. In a real battle, things are significantly more complicated than in training, so quick thinking and the ability to come up with offensive and defensive maneuvers to combat whatever your opponent tries are essential. Understand?"

Finchwhisker paused a moment to allow Shadepaw to soak everything in and ask any more questions he had. They had plenty of time, so he was in no rush to progress to defensive training. "As for how to defend yourself from attacks and counterattacks, there are several useful methods. But as I said, many of the moves you'll use in a battle will depend on what types of attacks you're dealing with."

Okay... so she had an apprentice now. That was cool. Fine. Dandy. Errr, it would be all of those things if she at all knew how this worked. Dreamcloud was lost, but she found herself leading her apprentice over to the training cliffs so they could maybe do some training. She just had to show Pumpkinpaw all the same things that she'd learned back when she was an apprentice. That shouldn't be too hard.... hopefully.

"Okie doke! So,,,, er.. Pumpkin. Is it okay if I call you that?? Anyways, I dunno what you've learned already. D'ya know how to hunt? Smack? We can do either or!"

Okay... so he had a mentor now. That was bad. Boring. Annoying. Ugh, it was all of those things, he knew how this worked. Pumpkinpaw wasn’t lost, and he found himself being lead over to the training cliffs to maybe do some training.
“I know how to hunt, and... smack,” Pumpkinpaw meowed.
Gosh, this one would be tough to handle, she seemed quite tentative, which was bad if he wanted some actual training, he hoped he would become a warrior soon, he didn’t want to be stuck in this position longer than necessary.
“I’ve been in a couple events, I can do most basics, I just need more... background stuff,” He meowed, sounding bored and uninterested, he had been told by his first mentor that he needed to learn basic respect for his mentor and the code, but what use was that when he lived in ShadowClan? This clan was a clan without rules! He could do anything he wanted as long as Dawnstar didn’t disapprove!
But, this cat wasn’t Dawnstar, or some other cat he was used to, this was Dreamcloud, a she-cat he knew next-to-nothing about, and he wasn’t too impressed.
“I’d prefer battle training since I’ve gotten a bit rusty since the last event.”
There, he’d said something that Dreamcloud would find use in, now he could get this dang training over with.

Dreamcloud somewhat noticed Pumpkinpaw's disinterest. Oo. This one might be tough to handle — he seemed kind of difficult, which was bad if she wanted to give him some actual training, but she was sure they could work it out. They had to work it out. Even if he ended up being awesome, she didn't want to be stuck in this mentor position longer than necessary. It felt weird. And it made her feel old. Which she was not!!! Hmph.

"Okay! Cool cool cool."

She knew how to fight, but.. how did you teach someone how to fight? Pumpkin knew the basics already, which was great and made her life that little bit easier, but this was going to take some thinking on her part. Maybe.. she could just fight him a little to get a feel of what he knew, and then work on what needed improvement, and then teach some new stuff. That seemed like a plan. She hoped he'd like that plan. Wasn't like he had a choice, though, seeing as that was the only plan that Dreamcloud could come up with and they were going with it whether he liked it or not. Still, though, she hoped he'd be okay with it, since she didn't want to seem like a mean mentor.

"Uh. Come at me. Hit me with your best! I wanna see what kinda moves you got." Dreamcloud exclaimed, taking a few steps back and readying herself up.
